Thanks for another fun weekend. This is our 4th stay at Allan’s Pause. Obviously, we love it there! I would recommend new mattress to master bedroom. We have always thought the bed was fine, but this time, my husband And I rolled to center during nite many times. Also, Mr. Coffee pot needs replacing. Those are the only 2 things I would recommend. We had a fabulous stay and look forward to next year!

Cozy with Gorgeous Views

We really enjoyed our stay at Aslan’s Pause. It’s a cozy, charming little cabin that feels like grandma and grandpa’s home. The kids loved the game room and exploring the outdoors, my husband and I loved having coffee on the deck with the stunning views and we all enjoyed the wood brining fireplace. The only points that need improvement are the beds and the master shower head. The master bed mattress and pillows really need to be replaced, the bed sags in the middle. Also, the kids felt the bunk bed was too wobbly and didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in it, so they slept in the loft. We appreciated the toiletries and supplies left by Greybeard and the communication was prompt and responsive.

By far this is the best view in Montreat. We spent most of our time on the deck. We had four adults and a baby and it felt a little crowded but having the outdoor space and the garage/game room helped with that. House was well stocked with everything we needed. Downstairs tenant is super nice and helpful. Greybeard Realty was super responsive to any needs we had. Would definitely rent Aslans Pause on a future visit.

This is our second time staying here and enjoyed it each time. It's our little secret.You cannot beat the beautiful views and cozy privacy. The place just feels like home. We already plan to return!!!

We enjoyed the view from the deck along with upgrades to the property i.e. adding black non-slip strips to the walkway, new windows, stove, oven, and new main bathroom sink

We enjoyed our Christmas vacation in the Mountains at Aslans Pause. The porch with rocking chairs + small tables was where we spent most of our time both bundled up on a chilly day and soaking in the sun and n the warmer days. The fireplace was so nice to sit around with family in the evening. We are a family of walkers and enjoyed the sidewalks for a safe walk to town (2.5 miles). We shared meals in and there were plenty of dishes and cooking supplies to get Christmas dinner done! Overall it was a wonderful experience.

This was our third time staying at Aslans Pause. Cute & cozy treehouse cabin! Always clean and has everything you need in the kitchen. This time we made a crackling fire to top off the cool weather.
The tenant below was very nice to blow the leaves off our deck and around the cars. Other than that, we didn't even know he was there.
We will return again! Love this property!

The view simply can't be beat! We had three adults and five kids under 8, and we never felt crowded. The house had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the washer/dryer was a god-send for keeping kid's clothes clean between clothes. The kids also really enjoyed the game room. We spent as much time as possible on the porch with a view of the mountains and clouds. We will likely stay closer to the conference center in the future, because it is a haul up the mountain between clubs with kids. But the grown-ups will be back sans children to soak in the view.

We enjoyed using the grill and the game room. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved watching the birds over coffee on the balcony. We also used the fireplace indoors with the firewood provided. The directions provided were easy to follow and we had no issues with the GPS - note it is uphill so would have been harder in the snow. Would love to visit again in the future!

Fantastic location with postcard views from every window ... especially that view from the deck! Aslan's Pause was clean and came with all the amenities. While we were close to Asheville we found plenty to do hiking Greybeard Trail, Catawba Falls and exploring Montreat and Black Mountain. What a great way to celebrate our Anniversary and my wife and I will definitely be back!

Aslan's Pause is a great size for us to get away as a couple. Very cozy and charming, and the view of the mountains from the deck has got to be the best around. Also a good location for day trips to hike and view waterfalls, although the gas shortage limited that this time. We appreciated the larger-screen TV and it looked liked the beds in the back room were new since our visit last fall.

The location, the view, the town, and we really enjoyed meeting the tenant downstairs. He was very friendly and helpful. He salted the steps and walkway after the snow, he offered to help us drive down the driveway if it was iced over (which it ended up not being), and pointed us to a nearby playground and pond that we could take our 2 year old to. He is an added bonus to the rental!

Our stay at Greybeard's was extraordinary! We woke up every morning to views of the sun rising over the mountains and deer wandering through the forest below. It was the perfect mountain get-away while still having all the amenities needed. We celebrated my husbands 30th birthday here and could not have been happier on the decision! In the morning, we sipped on coffee on the balcony watching the sunrise. Some of us played ping-pong for fun in the game room - that was a great bonus! At night, all of our friends got cozy by the wood fireplace. We cannot wait to go back! And the surrounding town is so adorable - there's a good selection of restaurants, cafes, and small stores. We definitely recommend this home.

My wife and I have rented multiple homes over the past 20 years through Greybeard in Montreat and we continue to come back to Aslan's Pause. Waking up each day to what we think is the best view in Montreat (perfect rocking chair porch and view from master bedroom), finding peace in the many quiet nooks to escape and read the many books that fill the shelves of this wonderful home, enjoying the play area in barn with your family... great rental. We will be back!

The view was terrific; we spent lots of time reading and rocking on the front porch! Our party had four adults so the bunk bed in the second bedroom wasn't quite what we had hoped for - best for young children.

My family and I had a really good time at the house! It is so cute! I hope that one day they can finish off the bonus room loft area and make that into another bedroom... that would be so awesome... perhaps put a spiral staircase to go up to it. We had a great time and the house has a great view!! We would love to go back there again! We were so surprised and happy that the master bedroom queen bed had an excellent mattress! We don't have that happen too much all throughout these years in Montreat!

This home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, so it was very quiet and felt remote (although there were other houses around). A beautiful view of Black Mountain below and the mountains beyond. Great place to relax. Easy access to Black Mountain for shopping & dining.

The best part of Aslan's Pause is the amazing view from the balcony. Very convenient location, just 15 minutes to downtown Asheville. My only suggestion for improvement is that the 1980s era 19-inch TV in the living room be upgraded with a new flatscreen HDTV (which would easily fit to the right of the fireplace). The staff at Greybeard's was very friendly and helpful, and I hope to rent from you again when I return to the Asheville area!

We had a nice time. The game room was an added perk. The view was amazing. But the kitchen was tight,not very well laid out and not a lot of storage. A little deceptive to show the loft in the picture, but then was told it was not part of the rental. Very peaceful.

We traveled to NC to spend Christmas with all our kids and extended family. Aslan's Pause was just down the road from their home making it a perfect location. We had a wonderful time at Aslans. The view was amazing and the weather warm enough to spend a lot of time on the deck. Our only complaint is the bedding in the 2nd bedroom. For a couple, the double bunk bed is quite uncomfortable.

It was a very different experience. Location was beautiful. Loved the loft.. something that you dont see in city life. Surrounding was peaceful. Realized there was a separate key to the garage in the end. Wish we had known that before. Would have been more fun.

My family and I were pleasantly pleased when we arrived. Such a nice view of the mountains and valley. The kitchen was fully stocked with the necessities and the pumpkin bread was such a nice touch and delicious. The only thing we would recommend is more outside lighting for night time at the back of the house where the deck is. We will be back in the future and looking forward to next time maybe going there in the summer to see all of the green leaves around the house.

We so enjoyed our weekend getaway in Montreat and loved being at Aslan's Pause. The house was comfortable and the view was amazing.

This was the first time my wife and I booked a vacation rental and we were very pleased with the experience. The service from Greybeard was awesome; everyone we talked to was extremely courteous and helpful. The Asheville Experience package was a great value and we enjoyed it very much.
The house was very clean except a few details such as dead bugs inside light fixtures and small details, but nothing really important. One thing we would recommend is to change the old couch, maybe replace it with a leather one so it does not absorb dust and it is easier to clean. As another reviewer stated, the porch can be a bit noisy but it is not bad unless you are specifically looking to feel \"in the middle of nowhere\" with absolute quiet. I personally enjoyed many hours relaxing and reading on the porch and the noise was not a problem. We stayed at Aslan's Pause for a full week and overall we felt very good in the house, it provides a very relaxing environment, it has a great location and the view is wonderful!

We had a wonderful time! I went to a conference every day but my daughters enjoyed all of the many trails and sights and my 87 year old grandmother spent wonderful times enjoying the view and reading on the deck. Very fulfilling stay.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Aslan's Pause is located in Montreat. This home is approximately a 10-minute drive to Black Mountain and a 30-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Aslan's Pause is not “pet friendly.” Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

This home provides an indoor wood-burning fireplace. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Since the property does not have a fire ring/fire pit absolutely NO fires are permitted outside, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Aslan's Pause. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
