From stunning mountain views to the beautifully outfitted kitchen and living spaces, Larson Lookout is a log cabin that has all of the desired modern furnishings coupled with the quintessential cabin feel for a true mountain escape. Enjoy the convenience of high-speed wireless internet and Satellite TV at this private mountain home. When you're not out enjoying Asheville or hiking area trails, time at the cabin can be spent playing pool or darts, relaxing in the hot tub, or taking in amazing views from the deck. During the colder months, relax around the indoor fireplace while spending time with friends or family!

About the Home
• The main level has an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen. The kitchen offers breakfast bar seating for 3, a Keurig coffeemaker, and formal dining for 4. The living room offers a gas logs fireplace, Satellite TV, and deck access. There is also a laundry area with a washer & dryer and a half bath on the main level by the dining area.
• Recreation room on the lower level boasts a pool table, dart board, and access to an outdoor covered patio with a hot tub. There is also a gas grill in the garage that can be rolled out and used on the lower-level patio
• Up to 2 dogs are welcome, with an additional fee per pet

• Open-air deck with covered dining area overlooking gorgeous long-range mountain views

Overall

Though a little out of the way, we loved the secluded location. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck and in the hot tub. Highly recommend and will stay here again if we don’t stay at another graybeard location.

We had a wonderful Christmas together and loved the cabin. It had everything we needed and was very cozy. Beautiful view!

There was nothing we didn't enjoy. The cabin was beautiful. The views were gorgeous.TI felt 100% comfortable and relaxed. The only part of our stay that I didn't enjoy was having to leave.

The cabin was well-stocked and clean. Our children enjoyed the games, puzzles, and toys! This is definitely a family friendly cabin!

Larson Lookout was an awesome, very private home base for a week of exploring the area around Asheville. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The view from the back porch was an everchanging delight. We would definitely stay here again.

We absolutely loved staying at Larson Lookout and hope that we can go back very soon! Everything was perfect! We only have one request and that is to put some type of railing, fence, etc. around the hot tub area. We never used it but wish we had. The cabin was so clean and had the most perfect view!!

We loved the open space, the view, the hot tub. Everything we needed was right at the cabin. The Kitchen was fully outfitted. There were puzzles, games, and legos for the kids. All ready to go. Very close to many hiking trails on the mountain and in Pisgah and Great Smokie Mountains.

Very quiet, well-maintained cabin with beautiful views. We were looking for something that felt like a true get-away but that was still conveniently located, and this was perfect. The cabin was extremely peaceful, yet close enough to Montreat and Black Mountain for good hiking, getting take-out, etc. The cabin was clean and everything was in good condition. A small note of caution: the driveway is gravel and has some deeper tire ruts. We were driving a Suburu Impreza, so pretty low to the ground, and bottomed out a couple of times the first time up the driveway. Completely possible to avoid if you just drive a bit off-center! Four-wheel drive was helpful, but not necessary this time of year.

We enjoyed our stay at Larson Lookout so much. The views were amazing, the cabin was lovely, and the location was great. Very accessible to Asheville, Black Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. To make our stay even more enjoyable, my boyfriend of 8 years actually purposed in the living room. This cabin will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Larson Lookout is an amazing cabin, very private with a great view. Because of COVID, we were looking for a "drive-to" vacation spot, and this cabin did not disappoint. It was very private, but had easy access to Asheville, the Smoky Mountains, Chimney Rock, and Black Mountain. It is well maintained and comfortable. Minor drawbacks? The master bed mattress is past its prime, the wifi was incredibly slow (oh well, no work emails), and the driveway could use some rock fill - had to drive strategically to avoid scraping the bottom of my car. But we would definitely visit again!

We spent a girls weekend here and it was perfect! Everything was clean and it was only a 20 minute drive to Asheville and about 15 minutes to Downtown Black Mountain! The views were awesome!

Came up here for a girls weekend- it was an amazing house! Plenty of room for a small group and it was so extremely clean and organized! Had everything you could need and more. And the view was unbelievable!

The house had everything you needed and was very nice. It had a great deck and view of the mountains. The drives to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway were both very manageable.

Three beautiful bedrooms with 3 1/2 baths - not common! Clean with a Keurig! Plenty of towels! Back deck was perfect for the dogs. Close to Dollar General for those little forgotten extras. Try Troyer’s Amish sandwiches & pastries along the way! Would visit again.

My wife and I recently stayed at Larson Lookout and really enjoyed it! This properly certainly has a cabin feel to it inside and out with the cedar walls and ceilings inside! The views from the back porch are incredible! We honestly have no complaints. The cabin is very private. The road up to the cabin is narrow and has several switchbacks and the final driveway is up a gravel hill. I wouldn't recommend taking anything less than a 4WD vehicle, especially is the weather isn't going to be good! Would stay there again!

We were so impressed with Larson’s Lookout cabin! Wow! Our first time in the mountains and we just fell in love! The cabin was way up the mountain but easily accessible! Our view...amazing! I could have just rocked in the rocking chair with my coffee for hours! Of course with the leave peaking it was stunning! The cabin was also perfect .... knotty pine with beautiful flooring open concept newer kitchen appliances AND nicely decorated! I would highly recommend a stay at the property!!��

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Larson Lookout is located in Fairview. This home is approximately 20 minutes to Black Mountain, and 25 minutes to Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Larson Lookout is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Larson Lookout has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Larson's Lookout. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
