This adorable cottage is tucked within a quiet neighborhood near Lake Tomahawk, the Black Mtn. Golf Course, and the restaurants and shops in the beloved town of Black Mountain. Whether you're enjoying your morning coffee on the outside patio alongside the trees, getting cozy by the fire pit during those cool evenings, or spending a night in watching the Smart TV with internet streaming (Hulu Live TV) by the electric fireplace in the living room, you will feel completely at ease in this inviting mountain nook. This home is in a premier location, situated near many hiking trails and other spots to take in the gorgeous views of the mountains and nearby lake. Great cozy cottage for two!

Overall

Whispering Pines was perfect for our work/play week in Black Mountain. It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was quietly tucked away, but also in walking distance to Lake Tomahawk and the golf course. And a short drive to downtown Black Mountain. We loved the patio for our morning coffee. Greybeard was wonderful to deal with and check on us every step of the way. They made everything easy!

Pines Perfection

This is the second year in a row my husband and I stayed at Whispering Pines in October. There was a reason we chose it again…it’s perfect for a fall getaway for 2. We love the location! It was a 5 minute walk to Lake Tomahawk Park and a 10 minute walk into Black Mountain. I seriously could have spent the entire time walking around the park and been completely happy! Fortunately for my husband, he was able to tear me away from the park for some spectacular day trips. A lovely surprise just up the road from the cabin was Montreat. Everything about the trip exceeded our expectations. We hope to return again next year! Thank you for recommending such a perfect place among the pines!

Lovely little house in a lovely little town

Overall

This was a great size for a couple. Very clean and comfortable. Although in a neighborhood, it was quiet. Short walk to Lake Tomahawk. Not quite walkable to downtown (no shoulder/sidewalks), but a quick drive. Easy drive to Montreat, Lake Lure, and Asheville. And Greybeard Rentals was nice to work with. (bring your own coffee filters with your coffee, and a wine/champagne stopper :-) )

Everything! My husband and I loved that it was a short walk to Lake Tomahawk Park. We walked there every morning after our coffee. The main business district of Black Mountain was only about a 20 minute walk and we loved that too.

The chipmonks and squirrels were a hoot! WP was very peaceful & relaxing - just what we needed. We enjoyed walking around the lake & the sitting area outside WP.
Always enjoy Black Mtn, Montreat & Ashville.
Wifi & the TV were iffy - mostly didn't work while we were there. Not a huge deal, but we did want to watch the Canes game. We appreciated the amenities, however, we did bring our own bath& kitchen supplies & towels, pillows,TP, paper towels and trash bags. We also disinfected prior to leaving.

Had a fantastic time at this home in Black Mountain. It was a great getaway for my girlfriend and I. The perfect size for the two of us and had a porch and grill. It was also a short drive to downtown Asheville.

The house was bright and airy. I loved the clean modern updates that were done very tastefully. It was a quiet neighborhood.

Walking distance to Tomahawk Lake this cottage is in a friendly community, with the lake, golf course, croquet, tennis & walking trails all within a couple blocks. We saw several birds while sitting on the front deck, a very quiet and enjoyable location. All the comforts you could want.

The cabin was very clean and organized. There were no issues whatsoever. It was in a great location and right near the lake.

Cottage was wonderfully comfortable. Nice location near town and neighbors but with quiet, peaceful setting. So happy to be able to cook fully, and do laundry. Especially during pandemic times!

Great little house for 1-2 people. Hosts are super responsive and easy to deal with. Convenient to Black Mountain (5-7 minute drive) and Asheville (15-20 minute drive). Clean, spacious, great internet, outside porch, close to golf course. Plenty of silverware and plates, clean fridge.

The house had great interior design-simple but charming and cozy. Easy check in with code was nice. I really loved the house overall. The bed was so comfortable!

The weather. Living in Florida where the weather is hot and humid, the

The little cottage was just as nice as it can get. Very quiet and peaceful location. highly recommend the Okie Dokie's BBQ. Phil's BBA was also good. Close to Ashville and nice drives on the Blueridge parkway.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Whispering Pines is located in Black Mountain. For larger parties, it's next door neighbors are Outside Inn and Morning Glory. This home is approximately a 5-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain and approximately a 20-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Whispering Pines is not “pet friendly.” Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Whispering Pines has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. This property provides a propane fire pit. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Whispering Pines. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
