This year, the 20th Annual Groundhog Day Celebration will be hosted at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort since Chimney Rock State Park is currently closed until further notice.
On Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 1:30 PM, Tater the Groundhog will make his big prediction. According to legend, there will be six more weeks of winter if Tater sees his shadow or an early spring if he doesn't! Immediately following the weather prediction, Tater will place his bets for the winner of Super Bowl LIX!
Other family-friendly fun from 12 to 2 PM includes:
- Encounters with Chimney Rock’s animal ambassadors and park naturalists
- Groundhog-themed activities
- Ice skating and carousel rides
- Local shopping at WNC Main Street
- Lunch at Tryon’s many delicious restaurants
