With an endless supply of seasonally-driven activities happening year-round, you can enjoy skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort just under an hour away during the colder winter months, and enjoy ziplining, whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding in the warmer summer months.

Overall

We have rented this property twice. It is always clean and ready when we check in. We are able to make everyone comfortable in the bedrooms provided plus have a kitchen and living area to watch TV, play cards and have meals. My granddaughter is attending UNC Asheville. This has been a perfect location for us.

Really enjoyed our stay at white pines retreat - lots of space, nestled in the woods, even had a black bear with cubs come ambling through the yard. Its a residential area, so we also saw some neighbors out walking their dogs. Was close enough to Asheville while still being in the hills. Would rent again

Apparently we like going there in May, maybe it will be an annual event. Once again the place was big, clean, and fit for purpose. Greybeard easy to work with. Location is still very nice. Dog friendly and accessible. Easy recommendation to others.

Nice, big house with comfy beds. We did some kayaking and the garage was large enough for the kayaks and bikes. There are stairs into the house from the garage but a ramp to the front door, so wheelchairs and walkers worked well for our group. Views from every room. Vitamix for my morning smoothies. The location was perfect for us. Will book again if/when we return to the area. Nice spot!

I loved waking to a view of the mountains, enjoying coffee in the sunroom, being so close to restaurants and shopping but also feeling a million miles away, board games by the gas fireplaces, and family meals together.

Perfect for our family. Plenty of space for everyone to sleep and work. Close to hiking and Asheville. The den was large enough for us all to watch movies and the tables held us all for meal time.

The house was huge, very modern, open spaces, fantastic.
The folks at Greybeard were easy to work with, answer questions, etc.
The place is close to plenty of food, groceries, and parks.

Now to the part that matters - dogs. It's so hard to find a dog-friendly place, especially one with a fence.
While the yard is not huge rolling acres or anything, it's plenty big to stretch and do bathroom breaks.
It is fully enclosed 4ft chain. So it's safe, unless you have an extreme jumper.
The neighborhood is quiet and was easy to walk dogs there.
And it was very close to a great park to walk the dogs as well (7min drive).

Would stay here again (and actively trying to arrange our next trip here now actually).
We stayed here back in May and I just got sidetracked and forgot to write up this review.

This was our first time in Asheville. Our granddaughter is a student at UNC Asheville. We frequently rent homes at the beach and were very pleased to see how many lovely homes Greybeard had to offer. White Pine was perfect for us and our pets. The house is very clean. The kitchen was well equipped. We had plenty of room for our adult children as well as our younger grandchildren. The deck is facing the mountains and the view was breathtaking. Downtown Asheville offers lots of shopping and restaurants. The staff with Greybeard contacted us numerous times to supply information about our stay. We will certainly use Greybeard when we return.

It was a beautiful house with lots of open space. The kitchen was well stock with equipment to make a dinner for 10.

White Pines Retreat was a beautiful home. Easy roads to travel and easy to shop for what you need rather than packing it to bring. Large common area. Makes it easy to cook and still be engaged in group's activities. Our family was not as big as the home can accommodate. We spent most of our time upstairs. Kitchen is fully equipped. Loved spending time in sunroom and deck. Quiet residential area. Bonus to be able to bring our dog. No tell tale smells or hair to notice about a dog friendly rental. Great option for a family or large group. We truly enjoyed our stay.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

White Pine Retreat is located in Arden. This home is approximately 20 minutes to downtown Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

White Pine Retreat is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

White Pine Retreat has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE? WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at White Pine Retreat. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
