Located within the heart of Montreat, you'll find this newly-updated mountain gem nestled among the abundant rhododendrons and trees and a nearby creek. In the morning, wander out onto the sunny, breezy deck to enjoy your morning coffee and beautiful woodland views before embarking on a hike to nearby Lookout Mountain or simply listen to the harmonious sound of the nearby creek. Return in the afternoon and spend some time reading or journaling on the cozy screened-in porch while you listen to the sound of the nearby creek, or continue the outdoor fun by paddle boating on nearby Lake Susan alongside the ducks. Stick around to hammock by the lake and watch the sunset over the mountains. Once evening falls, return home to craft a delicious meal using the spacious eat-in kitchen and gas grill before sitting down to enjoy it together in the dining room. After dinner, gather around the stacked stone fireplace in the living room to enjoy great conversation, play games, and stream your favorite movies (complete with popcorn).

Top of the World is also just 25 minutes from downtown Asheville where you can explore art galleries, sample beer at local craft breweries, dine at award-winning restaurants, and shop for souvenirs to remind you of your special time in the mountains. Overall

This was our second time at Top of the World and we enjoyed just as much this time as last! The house is comfortable and well equipped. The gas logs were welcomed as the weather was very cold! My only suggestion is about the laundry service. The mattresses were all deep mattresses and it was hard to get sheep’s on the bed. If the service could provide deep pocket sheets that would be great. We loved our stay and would recommend Greybeard to others if we are asked who to call for a rental in the area. Your communication was perfect!

Top of the World was the perfect place for us as we celebrated our daughter's wedding! We loved the open living area and separate living area downstairs.

The property was wonderful with so much indoor and outdoor space. It was perfect for celebrating our son's graduation from Montreat.

We were there with two other families over Labor Day weekend and loved our time on Top of the World! The layout was great. The kids enjoyed TV and games downstairs, while the adults enjoyed porch time and cooking in the (very open and well-stocked) kitchen. The house is far enough up Appalachian Way to enjoy a partial long-range view. We loved the side-of-the-mountain view from the porch and loved hearing the creek below. If you're a hiker, don't miss the opportunity to hike the ridge around Montreat, which is just up Appalachian Way. Awesome views!

Top of the World is a bright, spacious, beautiful home and was more than enough space for our family of five. It would be very easy to have multiple families stay in this home. It is well stocked with everything you could possibly need (games, puzzles, kitchen supplies) but still left plenty of room for us to store our own belongings and food while we were there.

The deck and screened porch are perfect outside spaces for enjoying the view and having some quiet time. We loved having the upstairs living area for quieter activities but then also having the downstairs living area for the kids to play and watch TV. We would absolutely stay here again - five stars!

The home was spacious, clean and quiet. The screened porch was lovely in the evening listening to the katydids sing. Mornings and afternoons on the deck. Large kitchen table for lively family meals cooked in the kitchen.

The house was perfect for our family gathering. We loved sitting out on the deck and on the screened in porch. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and glasses, the beds were comfortable and everything was very clean.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Top of the World is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Top of the World is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Homes with gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. This house does provide a firepit. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Top of the World. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
