Make the most of your time in the mountains at the modern & stylish Stone's Throw Retreat. As the name suggests, this home is just a "stone's throw" from everything the idyllic Town of Black Mountain has to offer! This home also boasts impeccable design and decor, from the craftsman hardwood flooring to the stylish sliding barn doors to the sleek marble countertops, the posh features in this home ensure luxury & functionality riddled with mountain charm.

Upon entering the home, you'll find an open floor plan that includes a living, dining, and kitchen area, making it easy for groups of friends or family to hold a great conversation while some are relaxing on the couch or playing one of the many games and puzzles stocked in the living room (complete with luxe furnishings and a gas fireplace) and others are cooking in the gourmet kitchen (complete with stainless appliances, marble countertops, and gas range stove). In the evening, use the Sonos Sound System to stream your favorite songs while sipping wine & creating a delicious meal using the gas grill.

After dinner, wander out onto the covered back deck to stargaze while cuddled up on the couch by the fire table before heading back inside to the cozy living room to stream a new movie using the smart TV. When it's time for bed, take advantage of the sound machine that can be found in each room to aid you in having the most soothing sleep possible. In the morning, step outside onto the deck to enjoy the crisp mountain air on your face as you sip your morning coffee in the rocking chairs overlooking the fenced-in backyard, or settle onto the bench in front of the house to people-watch & listen to the hum of downtown. Every Saturday (May-November), you'll have the chance to walk down the street to the local farmer's market minutes away to pick up artisan goods, fresh flowers, sustainably-grown produce, and homemade assortments of honey and jam. Just under 2 miles away, you could also spend your morning putting on the green in the sunshine at the Black Mountain Golf Course or walking along the scenic greenway in Montreat.

After returning home from whichever adventure you choose, carve out some time to work remotely using the high-speed internet & compact desk areas in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Ride your bike or take a stroll into "The Little Town that Rocks," Black Mountain, just minutes away. Known as the "Front Porch of Western North Carolina," you'll spot the iconic red rocking chairs throughout town that stand as your reminder to slow down, pull up a chair, and relax. Pictures don't do the house justice - everything was immaculately clean and looked brand new, and the property was equipped like a primary residence rather than a vacation rental. We loved the fully stocked kitchen, with KitchenAid appliances and a solid assortment of cookware and accessories. A little bit of impromptu baby-proofing was required for our 18 month old - there are nice decorative items on low shelves, and a very tempting and dangerous set of stairs we had to barricade - but it was a fair trade to be staying in such a beautiful and thoughtfully furnished house.

New home and location was the best! We enjoyed hiking to Lookout Mountain, Craggy Gardens, and Mt Mitchell. We loved walking to shop and eat in great restaurants in downtown Black Mountain.

Everything. The home is out of a designers magazine. Absolutely gorgeous with every cutting edge amenity you can think of. We also loved being within walking distance of Black Mountain and Lake Tomahawk (what a beautiful lake/park). We can't say enough about how wonderful Stones Throw is.

We loved Stone's Throw. It was two blocks from downtown Black Mountain and easy access to hiking and Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville. It is a new house with a fully stocked kitchen and beautifully decorated. Loved that the Sat. Farmer's Market was so close. We walked to all the restaurants and loved the White Horse / Black Mountain music venue down the street. Our young adult kids came and loved the wifi and chargers and updated decor. We would definitely rent this home again.

Our entire family loved our vacation time in Black Mountain. Susan Cameron steered us to a very nice home for our stay.
The best part was each family member was able to do as they pleased from hiking, tubing, running trails, white water rafting, visiting Asheville, taking in a baseball game, stopping by The Cove Chapel, eating at some great restaurants and of course shopping!!
Relaxing at the house was fun, and we really liked the friendly Black Mountain residents, who were always cordial and welcoming. The slower base of life was very welcome. Our oldest grandson who is in college said it was our best family trip!! He especially loved browsing the antique shops where he found old music records he loved!!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Stone's Throw is located in Black Mountain. This home is approximately 2 minutes to downtown Black Mountain, 20 minutes to Asheville, and 45 minutes to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Stone's Throw is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED? 

For homes that collect a security deposit, after an inspection, security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Stone's Throw. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
