This cozy cabin is the perfect mountain sanctuary for you and your family— just as it is for the monarch butterflies that reside here. If you've been searching for a private cabin in the woods with enchanting views, look no further. With such a great location, it's easy to take in the expansive mountain and valley views whether you're gathered around the fireplace inside or resting on the back deck. 

As the sun goes down, you can visit the Monarch Butterfly sanctuary just below the cabin, and once it's dark, you can roast marshmallows and tell stories around the outdoor fire pit. This retreat will allow you to enjoy the best of what nature has to offer while still being conveniently located just a short drive away from Hendersonville, Arden, Fletcher, and Asheville.  

House Layout:
This well-built log home features an open floor plan with a two-story great room with TV for streaming, a wood-burning fireplace, plenty of natural light, a primary bedroom on the main level with a king bed and full bath (accessible from bedroom and hallway), a guest bedroom upstairs with a bunk bed and also a full bed (streaming TV in this room). The upper level offers an open, loft-style bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom in the hallway. Outside, there is a fire pit for your enjoyment.

Please Note: This home is pet friendly with an additional fee. Parts of the road leading to the home are narrow. The last half mile is gravel and a high clearance vehicle is highly recommended in the event the road is rutted out after weather.

Great place - would highly recommend. We even got there a little early and the lock code wouldn't let us check in. Called and had it open within a minute thanks to Cameron (Sorry if I'm getting your name wrong)! Place is super spacious and really really nice, and views of the mountains are beautiful. Nice and secluded - would definitely go back.

The house is absolutely beautiful. The views are breathtaking. Our family enjoys visiting this area so much. The rental company was absolutely amazing. They were quick to respond with any questions we had. They were quick to resolve any issues we had. Everything was organized with check-in and checkout. The house was super clean. My only complaints are that there was no way to make ice and it would be nice to have had the grass cut. Both minor in comparison to all of the positives with this company. Of all the rental companies we've worked with with various places we've stayed, greybeard rentals has been, by far, the best!

Our family of three plus our corgis loved this cabin! While the drive through the neighborhood is rather steep and slow going, we thought it was worth it to feel the cooler temperatures at the cabin and to take in the view of the valley below. The huge, comfortable porch was a great gathering spot at the end of each day for conversing about our daily mountain experiences. The open floorplan was perfect for us, but it also means you can hear practically everything going on inside. We found everything clean and the personal decorative touches were nice without being overly intrusive. The Village Bakery in Fletcher was convenient enough to pick up lunch and eat it on the spacious porch and the sandwiches, pastries and bread were all delicious. Overall, Greybeard was great to work with and very responsive. We recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a quiet retreat.

We enjoyed the seclusion of this cabin and the quietness it offered. It was the perfect place to unwind. It was very comfortable, both with furniture and the atmosphere. We felt at home the minute we stepped inside. The fireplace was an option we were looking for and we enjoyed this each evening. And the views were fabulous! February did not offer the greenery of the warmer months, but even in the dead of winter, we enjoyed the sunrise over the mountain ridges and the clouds hovering in the valley. This is definitely views we do not have where we live.

Everything about the place was perfect: the house was amazing, beautiful and clean, the view was stunning, you can look at the mountains forever, the customer service was professional, fast and courteous, they responded to texts any time of the day. We loved everything about our visit!

The views and house were just great! Clean and spacious enough for our family. The Mountain View was unbelievable and loved waking up to see the fog rolling over the mountains. It's about 35 minutes to Asheville, which made it a option to hop into town for the day.

The view and porch are fantastic! Very comfortable porch furniture and beds with nice crisp linens, towels, etc. The house is charming and included nice touches for guests. Enjoyed the fire pit and awesome charcoal grill too. All in all, a great place to relax and take in nature ..... (As a gardener I appreciated the butterfly garden also!)

Shadow Ridge Retreat offered everything we were seeking - secluded mountain location with great views of the valley, outstanding porch with comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchen and very comfortable bed. 30 minute drive to Asheville and great golf at Cummings Cove golf club.

Shadow Ridge Retreat was just what we were looking for during our vacation to Asheville. It was nestled in the woods with a view gorgeous view of the surrounding hills. The drive leading up to the property is a steep one, but the view is well worth it! Upon arrival, we were greeted by blooming daisies that lined the stone path leading to the home.

The cabin was well stocked with all of the amenities of home. It was extremely clean which is something that I look for in vacation rentals.

Best of all, we were able to bring our family dog with us! She thoroughly enjoyed all of wildlife that visited us daily.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Shadow Ridge Retreat is located in Fletcher. This home is approximately 20 minutes to Black Mountain, and 25 minutes to Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Shadow Ridge Retreat is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Shadow Ridge Retreat has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Shadow Ridge Retreat. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
