Property Highlights

Scenic Point on Lake Lure, formerly known as Captain's Quarters, will allow you to enjoy lakefront living in the mountains in the beautiful town of Lake Lure! The light-filled interiors open up to stunning views of Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains from the comfort of the spacious sunroom, the deck with outside dining, or around the fire pit. With endless options for swimming and kayaking with the owner's supplied kayaks right from the property's grounds, Scenic Point is a water lover's paradise while also offering quick access to area attractions and local hiking. The Town of Lake Lure also offers a variety of eateries, parks, a local beach area, and a water park for the kids.

Lake Lure is also conveniently located to other nearby attractions such as the Tryon International Equestrian Center (30 minutes), downtown Black Mountain (40 minutes), and Chimney Rock State Park (20 minutes). It's also just under an hour from the culture, art, and award-winning restaurants and breweries in Asheville.

House Layout:
Main Level- Lakefront sunroom with dining table, seating for 6; Living room with 42" flat screen TV; kitchen with dishwasher and coffeemaker; bedroom with king and connecting hall bath (shower only); bonus room with daybed and twin trundle.

Upper Level- (accessed by parking level of home) Master bedroom with king bed, 32" flat-screen TV, full bath accessible from master bedroom or hallway; queen bedroom; half bath.

Outdoors- Lakefront deck with dining and seating for 4; fire pit; private dock; private boathouse with 2 kayaks included. You'll want to bring your lake towels with you to enjoy the water and large deck!

Scenic Point on Lake Lure has a 7-day minimum stay requirement (Saturday-Saturday) during the summer months.

PLEASE NOTE: This house is NOT pet-friendly. There is an exterior camera near the parking area. From November to March, Lake Lure lowers water levels to about 12 ft. below normal levels. There is an exterior camera in the parking area. This home has Direct TV which includes network sports channels (ESPN excluded).

For improved cooling in the summer months, additional mini-split heat and air systems were added to the sunroom and both upstairs bedrooms in August 2021. Renters have access to at least 1 boat slip within the boathouse.

FAQ

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Scenic Point on Lake Lure is located in Lake Lure. This home is approximately 20 minutes to Chimney Rock, 45 minutes to Black Mountain and Tryon, and an hour to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Scenic Point on Lake Lure is not “pet friendly.” Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Scenic Point on Lake Lure has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1 which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Scenic Point on Lake Lure. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

WHAT IS LAKE LURE’S BOAT ACCESS POLICY? WHERE AND HOW DO I ACQUIRE A BOAT RENTAL?

Scenic Point on Lake Lure is subject to specific regulations and guidelines enforced by Lake Lure. Certain types of watercrafts are prohibited, and ALL watercrafts (motorized and non-motorized) must obtain and display a permit issued by the town in order to be on the lake. This home has a private boathouse and dock for guests to use within the designated guidelines outlined by Lake Lure.

We had a great stay and perfect weather. The location is perfect with a great lake view and privacy. There are some nice upgrades to the heating and cooling. This was our second visit to Captain's Quarters.

Wonderfully relaxing spot on the lake. House got a little warm late afternoons as the a/c couldn't keep up but what a great reason to go for a swim. Views are great and kayaks are a nice touch to have.

We enjoyed an awesome 5 days at Captain's Quarters on Lake Lure. The property was exactly as advertised, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Communication with Greybeard throughout the booking process and our stay was quick and helpful, with all the information we could have needed for both the property itself and surrounding areas. We loved eating on the patio, incredible lake views, kayaking and visiting nearby Asheville and Chimney Rock. A great week at a property we've already recommended to friends and family!

The rental property was super clean and loved the patio/garden area and the VIEW of the lake (from all the rooms)! Loved having access to kayaks and paddle boat. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and we'd love to come back again!

Property was spotless upon our arrival. The location at the tip of Havnaers Point was priceless. Property actually presents itself even better than in the pictures, and that's certainly a compliment to the actual owner's interior design taste. Exterior of the property was amazing, especially the boathouse's gas fire pit and chairs set up.

The view was fantastic. The house was very comfortable including the beds. The outdoor area with tables and chairs and a firepit and so much water frontage is wonderful. We enjoyed grilling out one evening. the house was also very well appointed. Great stay. We would definitely return.

We loved our time at Captain's Quarters. We've stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and CQ was probably the best yet. The downstairs is where we spent most of our time since that is where the kitchen, family room, sunroom, and outside deck access is located. We ate breakfast in the sunroom enjoying the beautiful views due to the 3 walls of windows. We sat on the deck and enjoyed lunch and/or dinner. We didn't cook much except for breakfast. We either picked up lunch and/or dinner from Ingles, which had a massive deli offering a delicious variety from Chinese to fried chicken plates. We also ate in town. Highly recommend Riverfront Grill. We enjoyed the brick firepit and made smores while watching the boats and skiers go by. We also did a lot of star gazing!! Since there is no light pollution, the stars are amazing here!! The beds are comfortable and the towels/linens are crisp and clean. The den furniture is comfortable and the TV offers a great variety of channels. The internet was great too!! Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to take advantage of the paddle boat and kayaks, but maybe next time. I gave 5 stars for everything because CQ is really an awesome property!! The only recommendation I would give to the owner is to change the faucets in the downstairs bathroom and kitchen. They are old and hard to get the water temperature just right. Besides that, Captain's Quarters is just perfect!! Oh and kudos to Mark from Greybeard Rentals for coming out and getting the gas furnace going for us!!

The house was in the right place to overlook Lake Lure. Being right next to the water was very convenient for our grandchildren to be in the water and be next to the house. The Captain's Quarters were exactly what we were looking for in a vacation spot on the lake.

The house location was great. The view is spectacular and the point/yard was amazing. We enjoyed the use of the paddle boat and kayaks and the covered dock. The house was very nice and clean and comfortable. I hope that we will be able to stay again in the future.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property in Lake Lure! The views were absolutely amazing, & we had everything we needed with the house! The outdoor living was great. We all enjoyed the fire-pit, deck, & kayak. Everyone said it was the best location! We felt very welcomed from the Greybeard Rental company. We are looking forward to visiting Lake Lure again, & staying in Captain's Quarters!

We had small children and the lake was great for them. They could swim and kayak and generally enjoy nature. The house was terrific. We had a well stocked kitchen, appliances that operated well, and TV when it was needed. The activities in the area made us want to come back. One of the best things is how quiet the lake is. With no jet skis and a limit on motorized boats, the lake was a way to reconnect to nature.

We loved the location of the house on the lake, the grounds and the views. The house was set up well - there were 4 women without kids or husbands on our annual Girls' Trip. The house was clean and everything worked. It was well furnished. We enjoyed the kayaks but didn't try the paddle boat. It rained during part of our stay so we sat under the overhang at the boathouse and enjoyed the rain and our conversations. Parking was good for 2 SUVs and we probably could have had a 3rd car there.
