Step back in time in this stone farmhouse that was built in 1938. Completely renovated in 2018, the Rock House retains its original appearance and charm while providing modern conveniences and amenities. The house is furnished in the period, with many vintage and antique pieces that are reminiscent of its original interior from the 1930s. The kitchen and bathrooms have been remodeled and modernized with beautiful finishes and all-new appliances and fixtures.

The Rock House combines the best of old and new in a stunning home that is perfect for a large family or several couples. Features include an updated open floor plan with large windows throughout and several details that are original to the house, including the beautiful hardwood floors, a built-in china cabinet, and a cedar-lined closet.

Situated on 20 acres in the foothills of the Pisgah National Forest near the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Rock House was designed by the owner's grandparents and is built on land that was originally settled by their family over 200 years ago. It sits at the confluence of two creeks and features a commanding hilltop view where guests can watch the sunrise every morning from the stately front patio.

House layout: Main level- living room with stone, wood burning fireplace; dining room has table and seating 8; kitchen with dishwasher, mudroom with washer/dryer and laundry sink; den with flat screen TV; one bedroom with queen bed; full hall bath with walk-in shower only. Upper Level- large bedroom with king bed and day bed; full hall bath with oversized tub and rain head shower; bedroom with queen bed and en-suite half bath that features original bath fixtures from 1938. Outdoors- fire pit with bench seating, charcoal grill

On the same property is a 100-year-old Barn that has been converted into a small guest cottage that may be rented separately. The name is The Barn at Maple Hill. The Rock House is blissfully located in the middle of a number of the most amazing places to visit! 30 minutes to Biltmore Estate, 35 minutes from downtown Asheville, 20 minutes to Black Mountain, 13 minutes to downtown Marion, 30 minutes to Linville Caverns and Falls, and an hour and fifteen minutes to Boone skiing!

The Rockhouse was absolutely a wonderful place to stay. It was a beautiful home in a gorgeous location. It was very clean and cozy. We loved the feel of Christmas time in the home during our stay.

This is a newly updated fantastic home. Great kitchen appliances, fire pit, and views that are gorgeous. A 20 min drive to great hikes and waterfalls, small mountain towns and Asheville was 35 min away. We loved the small touches such as the Christmas tree, board games, and great TV options. Hello Disney plus!!
The only thing I would report is there wasn't enough hot water to last for 3 showers in the morning. But that would not deter us from staying again.

The house was beautiful. It was wonderfully updated but with the charm of an old rock house! We enjoyed our stay and we're able to relax but we were also just a short drive away from things to do.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

The Rock House at Maple Hill is located in Marion. This home is approximately 8 minutres to Old Fort, 15 minutes to downtown Marion, 20 minutes to Black Mountain, and approximately 35 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map. For larger parties, the home next door The Barn at Maple Hill is available.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

The Rock House at Maple Hill is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

The Rock House at Maple Hill has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1 which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

The Rock House has a wood burning fireplace for guests to use. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit, which is not provided at The Rock House. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at The Rock House. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
