Description

One of the original tree houses in the Village of Cheshire, Owl's Nest has been recently upgraded with customized features and new furnishings. Soaring vaulted ceilings, reclaimed walnut floors, wood burning stone fireplace, and locally sourced handmade ironwork are throughout the home. Wi-Fi, cable TV, and streaming options available, along with a custom surround sound system for inside and outside entertainment. Four decks for you to sit out and enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea, or your favorite evening beverage.

Located on a quiet cul-de-sac away from all the noise, yet close to everything. Hiking and biking trails, a cafe, restaurants and a salon all within walking distance and a short drive to YMCA, complete with pool & tennis courts. Less than 5 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 15-20 minutes to Asheville, Biltmore House, and Grove Park Inn.

House layout:
Main floor: Living room with wood fireplace, flat screen TV with streaming options, kitchen with bar seating for 2, dining area and table seating for 6, half bath, and wrap around deck complete with gas-assist Weber charcoal grill and outdoor furniture.
Upper floor: Master suite with king bed and full bath with soaking tub and walk-in shower, privacy deck off of master suite, and additional deck in the front of home.
Ground level: Bedroom with a queen bed, a flat screen TV, a full bath (shower only), alcove with a full size bed and sliding barn doors for privacy. Deck and patio with fire pit.

Owl's Nest is pet friendly with additional pet fee.

The owners offer a 10% off military discount year-round to military service members.

FAQ

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Owl's Nest is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Owl's Nest has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Owl's Nest has a wood burning fireplace and fire pit for guests to use. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. If your rental home has an operable wood fireplace or wood stove, you can purchase our Guest Services Firewood Bundle package and have firewood and fire-starting materials awaiting you upon your arrival from October through the winter months. 

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Owl's Nest. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

This is a special, charming cottage in the woods in a beautiful neighborhood. Many thoughtful touches made this a stress free vacation. What a peaceful place! We intend to return.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Owl's Nest in Black Mountain, NC. We evacuated Charleston, SC because of Hurricane Dorian and found a quick place to stay on Airbnb. This was the perfect house for us! We were able to keep working because of the great wifi. The beds are very comfortable and the house was very clean when we arrived. The outdoor wrap around porches were awesome and the whole house and location were perfect for our needs. Our two small dogs had a great time too. This house is in Cheshire Village in Black Mountain. It's a great little village with some creeks, hiking trails and restaurants. We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer.

The house was beautiful, very nice, as was the neighborhood. We enjoyed walking down to the green spaces for the kids to play. Also, we enjoyed the convenience of the market area.

We had a great small family rendezvous at this lovely house. Its not a secluded mountain retreat, rather a unique, upscale house in a nicely planned, walkable neighborhood that is only two miles or so from downtown Black Mountain, and a 15 minute drive to Asheville. Lots of steps, but great indoor and outdoor space, very livable and well built. Super service from Blackbeard.

We recently returned from a glorious 4 night stay at the Owl's Nest, in Black Mountain. This property is beautifully located in the Village of Cheshire, with the perfect combination of privacy,as well as convenience to the grocery store, eating establishments, and the interstate. We made daily trips into Asheville which is an easy 15 min drive. Black Mountain is a quaint, friendly town, and we love staying there while visiting our daughter in Asheville. Louise's Kitchen is a must for breakfast, and lunch! We're so grateful to the owners of the Owl's Nest for sharing their beautiful, cheerful home with us! And as always, Greybeard staff( Susan assisted us this time, and was so helpful in helping me to decide on the perfect rental for our family)is always a joy to work with. They even arranged to have the cabin decorated for Christmas a little early, as a surprise for our 6 yr old Grandaughter! That is customer service to another level! WE were traveling with our pets, and the location of the house being on the end, made for easy walks with our sweet pets.Cheshire Village and the Owl's Nest is like something out of a Fairy tale. It's enchanting, cozy, peaceful, and just has a beautiful vibe. Thanks again for a much needed escape with our loved ones!

The experience renting through Greybeard Realty was exceptional. Having traveled throughout the US and Abroad and using preferred travel agencies for the last decade, Greybeard is at the top of the list. I am in the high-end design development business with target markets throughout the most prestigious locations along the eastern coastline and we see exceptional properties on a daily basis. This property was a first to visit ( site unseen ) and only relying on what details were provided to us by our agent and contact at Greybeard. It was a welcoming surprise upon arrival to be at such a clean, upscale and newly appointed property. It was exactly what I was hoping for and so much more. The location is very charming and quaint and also very private which is a must when we travel. I highly recommend booking this property and we intend on returning very soon!

What a beautiful home! We have stayed in the Black Mountain area several times before, and always enjoy renting from Greybeard Rentals. One of the agents suggested this new rental, and we couldn't have been happier with it! The space was perfect for our family of four. The owners have given great care to the decor and finishes throughout the house. The location is perfect -- just a short drive from downtown Black Mountain and Montreat. We loved the speakers throughout the house and on the porches. The master bedroom is a restful retreat, relaxing on the porches was also a delight. If there is a downside, I would say that it would be the half size dishwasher. (The first time I've seen one!). However, it did not cause any problems for our family of 4. Our only recommendation would be to leave instructions for locking the French doors. It is not as simple as turning a knob, but we did figure it out with the help of a google search! I'd recommend Owl's Nest for couples or a small family, but perhaps not families with very small children as there are lots of stairs. We had a wonderful stay & appreciate the owner's attention to detail & Greybeard's excellent service.
