This spacious Montreat home provides 5 bedrooms & 4 baths, and it's less than a 5-minute drive and a 15-minute walk to Lake Susan—perfect for youth groups attending Montreat Summer Conferences!

HOUSE LAYOUT:
Main level: Kitchen, living room with wood-burning fireplace, full hall bath, bedroom with king, bedroom with two twins, bedroom with three twins and full en suite bath, bedroom with king and full en suite bath, bedroom with one twin & one queen and full en suite bath.

PLEASE NOTE: Bathrooms were renovated in May 2019, and a new HVAC system with central heat and air was added in 2023. The two bedrooms at the farthest wing of the house also have mini split air conditioning systems.

We enjoyed the updated bathrooms, the comfortable living room, and the shaded screened in back porch

Glider on screened porch was very nice. Kitchen is very well stocked with utensils, pots, baking pans, etc. It was nice to have a washer and dryer for those who wanted to get laundry done.

We are a group of seven college students and two other adults and stayed four nights. Very clean, well equipped kitchen and plenty of space.

Cozy Cabin Living

This house was a quiet and cozy location. We had 11 people stay for a few days and we managed to have enough space for both private and group space. The owners have chosen to invest in comfort (beds, bathrooms, etc.). The house is slightly older, and has a bit of a musty smell. We lit a candle which helped.

Montreat Youth Conference home base

Overall, the home was sufficient as a landing place for our youth during the conference. It was a moderate walk to and from Assembly Inn and Anderson Auditorium.
The biggest complaint was the dampness and slight dank smell. We know Black Mountain is moderate temperature wise, but this unit should install at least a window AC unit to help with moisture.

We stayed at the Morgan House for the Montreat Youth Conference. It was a good place to stay. The only thing was that there was no air condition, which we used a lot of fans which the house provided, so that was good. The only thing I would suggest, is looking into Wi-Fi for the house as their are people visiting who still do work and have school and such, but overall I thought it was a good place to stay.

We have stayed in the property several times. Several updates have been made which have been great. A big drawback is access to the house. It would be helpful to have a stable path/steps from Alabama Terr.

Our church has been bringing our youth group to the Montreat Conferences for 20 years, and we have stayed here for the past 4 years. The house is tidy, but it could use a deep clean and some inspection of things like windows, showers, appliances.

The kitchen has adequate supplies for preparing simple meals, though cooking for a large group might present some challenges. The appliances are in decent shape. Having a washer/dryer was a delight. The house does not offer a view, but it is quiet and restful.

We have stayed in the Morgan Family home several times and have enjoyed it. The screen porch needs a few repairs to screens. We also had problems with screen door on at kitchen not closing. Lights in hallway were not working and a short in one of the switches was noticed. We will be using the home again in Aug.

FAQs

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Morgan Family House is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION?

Wifi is available at Morgan Family House. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed. Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if the service is available.
