Property Highlights

Upon entering this gorgeous home, you’ll find an open floor plan that includes an intimate dining room, sleek kitchen, and cozy living area boasting long-range mountain views, a gas fireplace, and a smart TV with streaming options and Hulu Live for all of the day's live sports and news. The upper level consists of the primary bedroom that includes a smart TV and en suite bath while the lower level consists of a bedroom with two full beds (twin trundle below each one) and an en suite bath. Outside the home, you’ll find two expansive deck areas with ample seating (one on upper level, one on lower level), a fire pit area with seating for up to 4, and a park-style charcoal grill.

In the morning, wander out onto the upper deck to sip your coffee while watching the sunrise over the majestic mountains. After the caffeine has kicked in, go explore one of the many nearby hiking and biking trails that can be accessed from the cabin like the Overmountain Victory Trail, or take a short drive to explore the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area (15 miles away), Wolf Pit Trailhead of Shortoff Mountain (9 miles away), or the Linville River Trailhead via the Fonta Flora State Trail (5 miles away). On those warm summer days, visit the mountaintop beach within Paddy's Creek park, where you can soak up the sun, swim, kayak, and boat to your heart’s content.

On those inevitably rainy or lazy days, gather around the gas logs fireplace in the living room to read that recommended book you’ve been meaning to, or stream your favorite binge-worthy show. In the evening, listen to your favorite podcast or audiobook as you take advantage of the charcoal grill and upscale kitchen by crafting a delicious meal of grilled chicken, fingerling potatoes, and local veggies. As night falls, gather around the outdoor fire pit with a glass of sparkling wine and listen to the crackling fire as you look in awe at the stars above you in the clear night sky.

Located in Nebo, just 45 minutes from Asheville, this beautiful and pet-friendly lakeside cabin is the perfect place to rest, relax, and recharge as you enjoy everything that the Lake James area has to offer. Spend your days adventuring on the nearby hiking trails before grabbing a refreshing craft beer at Fonta Flora’s open-air brewery at Whipporwill Farm (1.5 miles away), or travel less than 10 minutes to the charming small town of Marion where you can grab another cold one at Mica Town Brewing Company, or sample fresh seafood and a cocktail at Crabby Abby’s Bar and Grille. After savory bites and sips, shop around at the Lake James Antique Mall, or take another short 20 minute drive to the “Simply Charming” town of Morganton where you can find more gift shops and art galleries to pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the mountains or for the ones you’re thinking of that couldn’t join you on this trip.

Please Note: This rental IS pet-friendly with an additional fee. WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Hully Gully is located within close proximity to Lake James. This home is approximately 25 minutes to Marion, 45 minutes to Black Mountain, and an hour to Asheville, Hickory, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Hully Gully is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Hully Gully has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION & WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD PROVIDED?

Hully Gully at Lake James has an indoor gas logs fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Hully Gully at Lake James. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

WHERE AND HOW DO I ACQUIRE A BOAT RENTAL IN LAKE JAMES?

While Hully Gully at Lake James is in close proximity to the lake, it is NOT lakefront and does NOT have its own private boat dock. For questions regarding boat rentals, please contact the Lake James Neighborhood Store (828) 391-8600 or Noah’s Landing (828) 707-2174.
