Truly get away from it all at stunning High Haven! This home is perched at the base of the Craggy Mountains and overlooks the sweeping Swannanoa Valley. Watch the sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains at 4,000 feet from the cozy living area or back deck, and at night, enjoy the dazzling city lights of Black Mountain and Swannanoa in the distance. A quick 15-minute drive from the shops, restaurants, breweries, and activities in the charming small town of Black Mountain, High Haven promises convenience along with tranquility!

The primary bedroom is surrounded by a large bank of oversized windows, and the bath has a platformed Jacuzzi tub. The professional quality kitchen with granite countertops has a Standard Drip and Keurig coffeemaker available. A new widescreen 47-inch HDTV has been added to the living area, and a 37-inch HDTV has been added to the primary bedroom. This home also offers high-speed internet for your convenience.

We had a wonderful time at High Haven. Peaceful and isolated, we enjoyed watching hummingbirds and sunsets from the deck. Our Prius made it up the steep incline, but just barely! There was everything we needed to cook and enjoy our meals. We saw two bears near the property which was cool too! Very clean. Great place to celebrate our anniversary!

Relaxing five nights with small kids at the top of the mountain (elevation approx 5000 ft) just on the back side of Craggy Gardens. Kitchen was well equipped and bed were very comfortable. 10 minutes to downtown Black Mountain. Road up was steep but wide and nicely paved. House was also very clean and the kids enjoyed the jet tub. Thank you for the lovely rental.

House is gorgeous with windows everywhere so no matter where you are there is always an amazing view, especially the deck. Kitchen was modern and well appointed. The lot is completely wooded and isolated even thought it's only located a few miles from Black Mountain. Perfect for picking a banjo or just enjoying peace and quiet!

Setting of the cabin - Views - solitude - warm ambiance - well equipped kitchen - cleanliness - well maintained cabin - felt welcoming - having starter items (shampoo, etc for bathrooms; dish & dishwasher soap, sponge/scrubber, etc for kitchen; laundry tablets dishwasher). One wonderful thing to be said about our stay is that there is absolutely nothing bad we can say. It was perfect! We hope to return!

Wonderful home with incredible views. Peaceful isolation just a few minutes from town. I took off my engagement/wedding ring to wash dishes before checkout and didn't realize my ring was left there. Thank goodness the people who cleaned after we left reported my forgotten ring to Greybeard and I had the ring back on my finger the same day. That says a lot about the people associated with this company; we are very grateful and look forward to working with them in the future.

High Haven was the perfect spot for our summer getaway to the mountains. We loved eating our meals on the back deck while enjoying the view and watching the hummingbirds. The house was in great shape and stocked very well with cooking equipment.

The house is incredible. A bit far from town, but views make it worth it. If you can stay here, do it!

The people at Graybeard will guide you thru. Ask them all your questions in confidence. Exactly as advertised. Expect the property to be exactly like the pictures on the website, because it is. Venture 6 miles into the charming town. At the local Episcopal church all are welcome

The cabin/rental home was beautiful. The master bedroom mattress was way too saggy and soft. Needs a new mattress. The wooden rocker or one of the beautifully painted rockers in Black Mountain would be wonderful on the deck overlooking the mountains and valley. We really enjoyed our stay and cabin kitchen is well equipped. We will be back.

HighHaven was perfect for our family of four adults. With only one shower, another adult would have worked or two children!

The views were spectacular, windows everywhere but cozy. Well stocked kitchen. Only complaint was that dressers were full of extra towels (which was great) but limited storage and no real closets in the bedrooms so be prepared to store everything in drawers. There is a hefty coat closet on the lower level. No big deal of course.

We have declared it our best Christmas ever with trips to Asheville, Hot Springs, and hanging out!

High Haven is a beautiful house high up the mountain. It is completely isolated, which is what we were looking for. We couldn't have been happier with the location. Loved the mountain view from the deck and also loved sitting on the back deck listening for critters. We loved both Black Mountain and Montreat, there are some really beautiful hiking trails in Montreat. Greybeard Rentals was great to work with and we will definitely be renting from them in the future. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. My only complaint is we had to leave!!

Slow Start; Big Finish

The remnants of Hurricane Irma just before we arrived \"killed\" electrical power at High Haven, so we could not check in on our scheduled day. Greybeard moved us into an alternate location for one night; after power was restored at the end of the second day, we checked into High Haven. Telephones were out an additional day and the bedroom TV tuner never came back on. Nevertheless, after this \"slow start\", the rest of our stay was most enjoyable - the cabin was fantastic and the scenery was unbelievable - and yes, we saw two bears, 4-5 deer, and several turkeys. An indeed \"big finish\"! (Greybeard has promised to reimburse us the difference in rental $ for High Haven and the alternate location we had to stay in for one day.)

We have rented four times now with Graybeard and each time the experience is wonderful. This cabot in the community of Laurel Ride is amazing...VERY secluded and private with great views. We actually had a momma bear and her two cubs frequent the outside area of the cabin 2 of the days we were there (I got it on video). one of the days we had to wait for her to get far enough away so we could even get in our car!! This is definitely \"bear country\"! Our kids loved the cabin and there was plenty of room for our family of four. The kitchen was well stocked as well. We can't wait to come back!

We were very impressed from Before check in. Speaking with Greybeard on different options for the best vacation rental for us was delightful. I was impressed with the call the day before we arrived to check in to make sure we didn't have any questions before we made our journey. The directions to or house were easy and straight forward. We enjoyed every minute in the pristine mountain home. We didn't want to leave! The fresh baked pumpkin bread was a delightful welcoming touch! I have already recommended greybeard to our family and friends for their vacation needs.

This place is once of the most beautiful cabins I have ever stayed in. The area is private and perfect for anyone looking to get away. The house was clean and it had things like ice cream scoops and random things you may need while on vacation. Greybeard was great to work with and even left us pumpkin bread for our honeymoon :) I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Absolutely stunning setting for such a beautiful home! The kitchen was more than adequately equipped, the bed was very comfortable. We saw a couple bears near the house, several wild turkeys and even a quail. We thoroughly enjoyed having this as home base for our day hikes and will definitely return!

High Haven is a house that welcomees you. It is stocked with all the small thing such as saran wrap, foil, bottle openers, dish detergent, etc. You are on top of a mountain with a beautiful view over the Swannanoa Valley it is quiet and peaceful and the kind of house that you just want to curl up and relax. The roads are curvy,and steep but paved. It took some getting use too. We would stay in High Haven again.

We stayed a High Haven a few years ago and were glad it was available for our vacation last week. The house is beautiful and has about as good of a view as you could ask for. The deck off the living room in particular is a wonderful place to enjoy the scenery. The house had all the amenities we could ask for. The location is very quiet, but it's only a short drive from Black Mountain so you can easily get to the events and places in town.

This cabin is extremely nice! The kitchen is a 5 star kitchen and the view is breathtaking! My family and I stayed here over Christmas and had the best time ever! Grey beard rentals was extremely professional and very helpful! They even have an app that can guide you when looking for shopping, resturaunts, or even entertainment! We will be staying at this cabin again!! One of the best!

Wonderful, relaxing location,secluded in a well maintained gated mountain cove just 15 minutes from Black Mountain. Well appointed property with top of the line furnishings including Wi-Fi, satellite big screen flat TVs, stainless steel kitchen appliances, hardwood floors, front and rear decks. Near plenty of wildlife and recreational areas.

Wonderful location, breath taking view, great local wild life visit( don't feed the bears)
Several disappointments ,No curtains anywhere, felt like we were in a fish bowl at night with all the windows in the bedroom, some folks might be into that.
The home was over run with black carpenter ants, on the furniture, walls, etc.
The wifi did not work, well, the code we got didn't. The A/C unit had a mind of its own, would go to 85 during the day and would freeze you in the morning. No matter what we did with the thermostat.
Make time when you leave to lock this door, this lock was a pain in the %#* to get to work.
For this money, lots of nice property's in this area, think I will try another next time.

We loved it. The home was very clean and had every possible amenity that you might need. The view is fantastic. Loved the upstairs shower. Very secluded and quiet. The ride up to the house is breath-taking.

It was so hard to make ourselves leave! There was absolutely nothing we would have changed about our cabin. It felt like home, and had everything we needed.
The staff at Greybeard was so great, and I highly recommend working with them to find the perfect property for your vacation.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

High Haven is located in Black Mountain within the private gated community of Laurel Ridge. Please note that this community restricts the use of ATVs and hiking on private property.

High Haven is approximately 10 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

High Haven is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at High Haven. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
