This beautiful, spacious log cabin is in a private, gated community, located on a mountain wildlife preserve. Enjoy watching turkeys, rabbits, colorful birds, and more while enjoying breakfast on the deck, overlooking views of Mount Mitchell. With 3 outside decks available for your enjoyment, two of which are covered, there is no shortage of outdoor seating. Two large great rooms, 2 dining areas, a spacious kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms prove ideal for groups. Sheets and towels are provided for your convenience. The garage is the game area and includes a ping pong table, air hockey, and cornhole. No cars are allowed in the garage.

House Layout
Main floor: Living room with TV and wood stove; dining table seats 4; Kitchen table that seats 6; a bedroom with a full bed. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a queen bed and a full bath. The lowest level has a bedroom with a king bed; a den with a TV; Full bathroom (shower only, no tub).

Please note: Christmas Tree Cabin is pet friendly and will allow one dog under 25 lbs. with an additional pet fee. Homeowners will provide a kennel and request the use of it when guests are away from the home and leave their dogs unattended. Christmas Tree Cabin does not allow candles on the property. Guests should not bring any into the property and are asked to only use the battery-operated ones at the house that are provided.

During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community.

Fantastic Cabin!

What a great mountain cabin! We met our kids there for Thanksgiving. Views are amazing. Very nice community. The cabin is well stocked with everything you need if you want to stay in and cook your meals. About 1/2 hr drive to Lake Lure area and Black Mountain for hiking adventures. We enjoyed the ping pong tables and corn hole boards. One of our favorite getaway! We'd definitely come back!

Everything about this stay was simply perfect. The views and the covered enclosed porch was a bonus for our dogs. The furniture in all areas were very comfortable and inviting. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed.

We felt so fortunate to have such a beautiful cabin with spectacular mountain views for a special family gathering. The cabin is beautifully furnished with a well equipped kitchen. Especially intriguing were the old photos which gave the cabin such a family feel. When the heat stopped working, Greybeard had a repair service out within two hours. The hiking trails and waterfalls in the community provide such a bonus. The location is convenient to other hiking areas as well as Asheville and Black Mountain. It was a spectacular week. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place

The location was perfect for a quiet getaway. Loved the cabin and how clean and well-stocked it was. We felt very much at home and would go back in a heartbeat. This might be our new Thanksgiving tradition!

We could not have asked for a better setting for our mountain vacation. The view from Christmas Tree Cabin was spectacular! The roads can be steep and windy in places in Gateway Mountain but we were prepared for that based on other reviews. We have a AWD Subaru but my daughter and son-law just put their truck into low gear and it was fine. The house was clean and felt homey with plenty of room for the 6 of us. We definitely used the game room in the garage and it was a good place to store our garbage bags until we could take them to the transfer station on bat cave road. We would rent Christmas Tree Cabin again and use Greybeard Rentals!

The cabin was beautiful and it was nice to be back in the Hendersonville/Ashville region after 10 years. I also love to cook and given the cabin's location I cooked almost every night. It was fantastic to have such a well stocked kitchen in terms of pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.

This house was amazing. The most beautiful views, extremely spacious, beautiful wrap around deck, the pool table and ping pong table in the garage were a huge plus. Humming birds were adorable. Ashville is not far and is a super cute town with great restaurants. We enjoyed our stay😊

We came here in the month of October and had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and the views were beautiful. The cabin came supplied with DVDS and games for the kids, to include a game console. I liked that there was an additional entertaining area in the basement so the kids and adults could each have their own space.I also liked having the convenience of a washer and dryer for the days we did a little hiking. Everyone in our party said they would definitely return to this cabin.
The only downside was the steep hill right before you reach the cabin. Luckily there is not snow in the month of October, but if you were to come here during the winter months I would definitely only come in a 4x4.
Asheville is a 25-30 minute drive, but there are waterfalls only a few minutes down the road.

Our family had the most wonderful time on our Vacation to the Christmas Tree cabin. Graybeard was very accommodating when we had questions. The cabin was superbly clean when we arrived and was equipped with anything you could possibly need. The kitchen was probably better equipped than my own and I was surprised to find every utensil I needed when cooking. The setting was so serene and peaceful. What a treat to look over at the mountains in the distance upon waking and in the evenings. On a rainy day there was air hockey, table tennis, corn hole in the garage, as well as any game of movie you could think of in the cabin. My treat was to sit on the swing in the screened in porch and listen to the sounds. Each day was an excursion, to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, mining at Emerald City, Mt. Mitchell, Smokey mountains, ziplining and tubing, several trips into Asheville, guided fly fishing, eating at the Tupelo Honey cafe, and tacos you would not believe at White Duck Tacos. The whole family commented on their joy of not having a neighbor or someone close by..the serenity was fantastic. Almost every day in the 2 weeks we were there, we found a turtle we named Turt Reynolds, living under the bush by the steps leading into the home. The beds were extremely comfortable, linens clean, kitchen immaculate and there was a pumpkin bread on the counter to welcome us when we arrived. At night it was surprising to hear the woods around come alive with the sounds of nature. This was a vacation that we will treasure and if I could live there I would be in heaven. When we left one of the granddaughters had to say goodbye to everything with an air hug..the cabin, garage, our turtle, games, scenery, porch. Would I recommend this a second. The trip down the mountain seemed long the first time we drove, but it seemed to get shorter each time we left or came home and we saw wild turkeys, a bear and deer on the way. We hope other visitors love this home as much as we did.

We fell in love the minute we walked onto the property! The view was spectacular, and the cabin was clean and neat with all the amenities we needed to make the stay wonderful! While in the area, we visited the Biltmore Estates , Grandfather Mountain, and took hikes to Catawba Falls and Linville Falls. The falls were absolutely breathtaking!! Greybeard Rentals provided excellent customer service, and we would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone!!

We could not have asked for a more beautiful cabin or location! The cabin was clean, the pillows were like laying on the clouds. Christmas Tree cabin is a perfect name we were surrounded by them. We had 3 levels for our privacy and a game room in the garage as not to disturb anyone if you wanted to get a little noisy. We went at the beginning of Nov. and experienced fog over the weekend but that did not stop us from enjoying the experience of great friends and fellowship. We stocked up on food so we did not have to travel back down the mountain. We had an awesome time and have already recommended Greybeard to our friends and family. Ashley was a great help in assisting us with questions we had. The Greybeard team as a whole were phenomenal, from making the reservation to exiting from our stay! Thank you Greybeard for

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Christmas Tree Cabin is located in Old Fort. This home is approximately 30 minutes to Black Mountain and Marion, and approximately 45 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Christmas Tree Cabin is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Christmas Tree Cabin is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 243 Catawba Ave S to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to Christmas Tree Cabin from our Old Fort Office. Included in the driving directions, will be instructions on how to access the house.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Christmas Tree Cabin. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
