This historic home has all of the charms of Montreat with the convenience of a newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms, as well as heat and cooling. The large porch with ceiling fans and rocking chairs make Chidi San Memory a welcoming place for families, friends, and groups to reconnect and get refreshed. Ideally located in a lovely part of Montreat, it's a short 8-minute walk to Lake Susan, and only a 5-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain. Well-behaved dogs are welcome (sorry, we're allergic to cats). Private drive with parking for 3 cars.

HOUSE LAYOUT:
Main Floor- Kitchen, living room with a dining room, bedroom 1 with queen, full hall bath.
Upstairs- bedroom 2 with two full beds, bedroom 3 with two twins (one of these beds is an antique and is slighter larger than a twin so full sheets will fit better), bedroom 4 with two twins, two full baths. Each upstairs bedroom has its own balcony.

Please note: Sheets and towels are NOT supplied. The wood-burning fireplace is NOT usable.

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting! We had a wonderful stay with our family. The house is well kept, the kitchen is nicely stocked, and the views are lovely.

We are so thrilled that we found Chidi San Memory!! My family has been visiting Montreat my entire life. My great grand mother came to Montreat from South GA many years ago. My family has a cottage on Virginia Rd where we have made many memories. This year there were too many people staying at our family cottage so we decided to rent a cottage because my family has grown as well. I am now a grandfather. We absolutely loved EVERYTHING about Chidi Sam Memory!! Not only is it roomy, comfortable and beautiful, Graybeard Rentals took care of every detail and made our stay perfectly wonderful from check in to check out! I can't say enough good things about our experience. It was PERFECT! We are already planning to return next year and we are looking forward to staying at Chidi San Memory again! Thanks so much of making everything just right!!

The house was big, but very simple. We could gather together or spread out. The kitchen is very nice and usable.

Good time was had by all! We had a little trouble with the a/c going out on Thursday, repair man came but couldn't get to the unit in the basement.
The house is not advertised as handicapped accessible but a hand held shower head and a comfort height toilet in the downstairs bath would be an added perk for us at age 80 and 84!

We are local owners who rented Chidi San Memory for a family reunion as our home was under renovation. It's been beautifully renovated without losing the original character. It worked out great for 2 families. The parking area and upper level entry are handy. We hosted our extended family for dinner and even though it rained, everyone ended up out on the beautiful porch. Highly reccommend!

We had a great time with our daughters and their families. The layout of the house was just right size...the upstairs game room became the kids club house as it became known was the hang out for the grandkids (10,9,7,7,5,1). We all had a lovely time!!!

Chidi San Memories has become our \"home\" in Montreat; we have rented it for a week in June for the last four years and I have reserved it for next year.
The front porch is great for morning coffee and afternoon wine or for just sitting.

We enjoyed the house very much. It had plenty of room for a large family and I liked all the single beds for family that did not want to share a bed. It was very clean and had been remodeled beautifully. We would definitely stay again.

We had a family get together with 6 adults and three small children. The kitchen worked great, the living area was spacious and comfortable. We had peaceful nights as the children could be in different rooms upstairs.
The porches are wonderful, but the weather hindered us to use them. There is a game room on the third floor which we used. We loved the short distance to parks and hiking around the college.
We would love to come back.

For the fourth year some of our large family spent a week in Chidi San Memories, Montreat NC. The home isover 100 years old lovenly restored and beautiful. I have already reserved a week in the same house in 2016

Chidi San was the perfect place for our group of 8. We especially enjoyed the kitchen! It was clean, cozy, and very convenient to get to and from the conference throughout the day. We kept trying to figure out who the guy in the painting over the fireplace was and ended up calling him \"Unger\" after the \"Unger Hill Powell\" sign in front of the property. If anyone has any information...I think the group would enjoy finding out more about him.

We love Chidi San, best house we have rented in over twenty years of coming to Montreat! The owneers could do a few simple things like replace shower heads(existing ones need cleaning to permit better water flow) with hand held shower heads.

FAQs

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Chidi San Memory is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE? WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Chidi San Memory has a wood burning fireplace for guests to use. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit, which is not provided at Chidi San Memory. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Chidi San Memory. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
