Description

PLEASE NOTE: This house requires a 3-night minimum stay.
Perfect house for a mountain getaway. The central portion of the house was built in 1922 as a small log cabin. It has evolved over the years and now has four gracious bedrooms and three beautiful full baths with granite and tile. A remodel performed recently has brought this house to feature all of the comforts, while still retaining that rustic mountain charm. The grounds are simply spectacular with its plantings and landscaping. We are pet friendly and your dog will be in paradise, with over an acre of fenced in yard to roam and explore. And kids will love the large playhouse with electricity, and a swing in the old oak tree. The rear of the property backs up to the National Forest with The Mountains to Sea Trail just 100 feet beyond; and the Blue Ridge Parkway a slight distance farther. The National Park Service Headquarters and the Parkway Visitor's Center are only a 15 minute hike away. Countless other mountain hiking adventures abound, right outside your backdoor on The Mountains to Sea Trail This is a place that will balance you and live in your memories until you return again.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Celia's Retreat is located in Asheville. This home is approximately 10 minutes to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Celia's Retreat is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Celia's Retreat has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Celia's Retreat. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

We loved the location - close to town but tucked away in the woods. Super to have the trailhead in our back yard. Our 5 year old grandson appreciated the adorable playhouse, complete with indoor electricity. 5 of us and two doodle dogs had plenty of room in the house- perfect for up to 8! Will return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and would recommend this cabin. The location was ideal with small children as there was plenty of space to run (without falling off a mountain) and the accommodations were very comfortable. The upgrades are so appreciated - beds, linens, well stocked kitchen. This was a great find for us and we will certainly look at renting this again! Also, the location was really convenient for us and less than 10 minutes to downtown, the Nature Preserve, Highland Brewery, etc.

The house was wonderful. It was clean and spacious-bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The beautiful gardens were a pleasant surprise! We loved the easy access to the trails. The kitchen had everything we needed.

Celia's Retreat was the perfect house for our family's first visit to Asheville! You feel secluded in your own private mountain cabin, yet you're only minutes to downtown and The Biltmore house! We took a short hike right out of the backyard to the Blue Ridge Mountain visitor's center. Great fenced in front yard for our furry friends to enjoy! Amenities are great for 3 or 4 couples or large family. Space with a large yard for everyone to have their own space to relax. Truly the perfect location. We will be back!

This location is ideal for a diverse group of people and related activities. It was about 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as parts of Asheville. 10-15 minutes from the Biltmore, and a great starting point for parks south and north of the area. I could not have selected a better place for a mix group of people that enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, historic places, shopping, and breweries. Our group had two med-large size dogs and the fenced in front yard was terrific. The dogs never felt as if they were confined. The yard area is much larger than pictured. It truly was at least a whole acre fenced in. I definitely would consider renting this location again. The cabin was charming and very user friendly and serviceable. Very functional. I don't know how anyone would be disappointed with this property. You don't need 4-wheel drive. It was very accessible by van. However, as it is stated, your initial visit and accessing the property should be done during daylight hours.

Celias Retreat is in a great location in Asheville. 15 minutes from Biltmore and 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Theres a trail head that you can take from the yard for a nice hike and the cabin is dog friendly with a rare large fenced in backyard.

Overall our experience was very good. House was very clean, roomy and located within a 10 - 15 minutes drive to downtown, tubing, and zip lining. Location was not as private as I was expecting as you could see the neighbor's house. Also, Celia's Cottage is no more than 50 ft. from the larger structure. We were lucky that no one was at the cottage until late on Thursday and we were leaving on Sat. morning.

Has a great outdoor patio with tables and chairs, however one disappointment was the lack of an outdoor cooking option like a grill. Would have loved to be able to throw some steaks on the grill and just relax in the evening enjoying the great weather but this was not an option.

One really nice feature was the hiking trail right off the back of the property. We were able to enjoy hiking without having to drive off the property.

Outdoor playhouse is a great addition and the girls loved playing there but make sure you bring your own accessories as none are provided. Playhouse has furniture and 4 plates but no play food or anything else to play with. Also, has a cute wooden doll house but it has no furniture or dolls so they couldn't really play with it. Playhouse also could have been a little cleaner. It is an outdoor structure but it needed to swept and it had spider webs and some bugs.

It is a nice option that pets are accepted and the front yard is fenced but be careful if you have a smaller dog. Our dog was able to get out of the yard.

We rented Celia's Retreat with friends to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. The house was perfect for our two families of three each. Plenty of private space to retreat to and the common areas were cozy and comfortable. Our only (very minor) quibble was that the dining area was not particularly comfortable and would benefit from reimagining. Everything else, though, was fantastic!

The kids (6 and 3) absolutely loved the big playhouse and tree swing in the backyard, and we all loved the ease of accessing a hiking trail loop off the backyard that took us by the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor's Center. The house and location were ideal and idyllic (we even saw two black bears crossing the yard one morning!) The house is also a short and easy drive into downtown Asheville, which was perfect for day excursions.

I cannot recommend this property enough. We would definitely rent again and hope to soon.

Fantastic location on the MST and a short hike to the Blue Ridge Folk Art Center and Visitor Center. Wonderful place to stay with dogs -- they loved the large fenced area. Also great for quick trips into the city to enjoy the cuisine of Asheville. We will definitely be back!

Celia's Retreat was as advertised and the property itself is in a great location. We found that it was in close proximity to all the attractions we visited (Sierra Nevada Brewery, National Gingerbread House Competition at Grove Park Inn and the NC Arboretum as well as Biltmore Village). We especially liked the fact that the Mountain-to-Sea Trail was a mere footsteps away. No driving elsewhere to hike-it's right out the backdoor!! Oh, and did I mention Celia's Retreat is pet friendly. An added bonus was the fenced front yard for our pet. The property itself is well maintained and very comfortable decor. The kitchen is well stocked and a pleasant surprise for me was the Keurig. Greybeard Rentals was a pleasure to work with and very timely with their informative e-mails. I also liked that the property was a keyless entry. I would definitely recommend Greybeard Rentals and Celia's Retreat!!

We had a great time staying at Celia's Retreat. The house was nice and the yard was absolutely wonderful for my dog. There was a wonderful loaf of pumpkin bread waiting for us when we got there which started everything off on a perfect note.

We had 4 adults and 4 kids in this beautiful cottage and there was space for everyone! Two masters on one side of the house make it easy for everyone to go as they please with feeing on top of each other. Its beautifully updated so you get the conveniences of a modern kitchen, large tv with movies and granite finished bathrooms while still feeling the cozy cottage layout.

Also, our kids LOVED the outdoor playhouse with kid size furniture and electricity in it. Plus, the tree swing! Also, theres a walking trail head right near the property which let us get out and explore without packing kids and snacks and waters to drive 20 min just to hear no one wants to walk anymore.

Greybeard management was great to work with, providing a lot of good communication.

Weve made this the home well rent every time were in Asheville. Its only 10 min to downtown and such an easy drive!

The cabin was located about a fifteen minute taxi ride to downtown Asheville. My husband and I loved the convenience.

The grounds of the cabin were beautiful.

The house met our needs regarding setup of bedrooms & location to activities in Asheville area. Beautiful quiet surroundings. Flower garden attracting multitude of butterflies. Well equipped kitchen. Large playhouse, great fun for grandson. Saw wild turkeys in backyard one evening. Easy access to hiking trail.
Perfect house for our family.

Our family had a lovely stay at Celia's Retreat. The house is comfortable and nicely-appointed, but our favorite part was the location! While the views from the house make you feel secluded and deep in nature, you are only a 10-minute drive to downtown Asheville and all that it has to offer. Having the Mountain to Sea trail right at the edge of the yard was really nice; our whole family enjoyed the easy walk to the beautiful visitor's center (only about a 15-minute walk, suitable for kids). Our kids (6 and 2) also really enjoyed the swing, and they loved the idea of the playhouse, but they were afraid of the spiders inside. ;)

Our cabin was so perfect for our family. The big yard allowed for great whiffle ball games with the grandkids and having part of the yard fenced was great for our dog. We were in the country but only 15 minutes to downtown Asheville. It was a wonderful week. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. We had turkeys, deer, groundhog and lots of lighting bugs visit us

Had a great time in a great cabin location. On our "do it again" list. Only issue was there were no TV/Cable remote controls in downstairs bedroom making the kids room TV unusable.

We found Celia's Retreat to be everything we could have asked for in a weekend getaway to the Asheville area. We were a group of 7 and never felt cramped or in each other's way. The house is beautiful! The kitchen and bathrooms are beautifully remodeled and just wait until you see the floors! The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of seating outside for hanging out under the harvest moon. Susan and Tina were a pleasure to work with and had our one dilemma (our key got stuck in the door!) taken care of quickly. We walked the Mountain to Sea Trail twice and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. No bear sightings, but an entertaining flock of wild turkeys in the mornings! It's a quick trip to get to Ben's Tune-up and the Isis Music Hall downtown for some good bluegrass. We will definitely return and would recommend this property and rental company to anyone interested in this area.

Our trip to Asheville had multiple purposes. My daughter was conducting the Girls' Golf Academy with the LPGA and my granddaughter was attending, so we decided to make it a family gathering. In addition, I am a travel writer with assignment from to create a tour of Asheville, so I needed easy access to downtown. The house location was perfect for everyone's purposes and large enough to accommodate kids, dogs and grownups. We celebrated one granddaughter's birthday and baked the birthday cake right there. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. I particularly enjoyed mornings on the back porch overlooking the English-style garden sipping my cup of tea. The adorable playhouse was a hit with all the girls, and the hiking trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway were just steps away through the trees. In all, the house was clean and inviting with plenty of room for everyone. We all hated to leave, but will definitely revisit Celia's Retreat.

Greybeard Rentals made booking and entry very easy with their mobile app and availability for questions in the office. Celia's Retreat was everything we wanted and more! From the beautiful flower beds, large yard, kids playhouse and outdoor seating for family meals. The interior design was quite comfortable too and the upstairs suite was a "treetop" experience!

Worked out great for our daughter's wedding. Site very clean, no issues except the dishwasher did not work. Grounds and flowers beautiful. Frank did a great job taking care of the grounds especially during a drought. Thanks again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Celia's Retreat. What a perfect location, convenient to the Biltmore and downtown, with easy access to everything. Wonderful cabin with large, fenced yard, perfect for your dog. Cabin was nicely furnished with a well-equipped and updated kitchen and beautiful bathrooms.

This house was absolutely perfect for our extended family. Everybody was comfortable with a space of their own. My bed was more comfortable than the one I have at home. The locations was fantastic for quick trips into Asheville and Black Mountain.

The thing that made my heart smile the most, however, was undoubtedly the large fenced in yard. It was an absolute delight to watch my 2 dogs romp and play freely.

The microwave quit working during our stay but Greybeard Rentals had a super nice handyman bring over a replacement within a couple hours of my call. (The kitchen was well equipped - this was just a fluke)

We love visiting Asheville and this will forever be out go-to location!

Celia's Retreat was everything and more. Very clean, nice lounge area, and well furnished. Bath's and showers were spacious and kitchen had good seating. The patio and backyard was a big plus for children to play and enjoy the day.

Thanksgiving in Asheville, what a blessing! Celia's Retreat was the perfect property for us - everyone had plenty of room. Although the location was convenient to everything, it felt like we were out in the country. According to my 13 year old son, this was the best vacation ever. That's saying something!! The folks at Greybeard Rentals were terrific -- and I love the app!! What a great idea! I used it several times before and during our stay. Thanksgiving meal at Red Rocker Inn was wonderful. Good food and fellowship, the perfect Thanksgiving.

2 Grand Parents, 4 Sons and Daughter in laws with a 15 yr old and a 2 yr old.....answered all our needs at all age levels...immaculate interior with large yard and unbelievable playhouse...minutes to anywhere in Asheville...bedrooms sufficiently quiet enough for all age groups...three day stay...wished it could have been longer!! Susan was wonderful and there was no typical bait and switch...even arranged baby items delivered to house before we arrived.

We celebrated the marriage of 2 wonderful people at Celia's Retreat. The grounds were manicured beautifully with flowers everywhere. The house was perfect for the wedding family to stay for many days comfortably and get to know one another. Parking was good since the road to the house is fairly long. No one had to park in the yard. It was a perfect event. It is conveniently located close to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore. There is a wonderful trail to walk that boarders the parkway.

The house was a wonderful combo of a 90 yr old log cabin and today's modern amenities. We stay at Celia's Retreat for 12 days in June 2015 while my wife attended a 7 day workshop in Asheville. My 12 yr old son and my in-laws were along for the trip.
The Blue Ridge Parkway visitors center was literally a 10 minute hike thru the back yard. Awesome house, beautiful area. Great golf, ziplining and hiking. We will be back!!

This cabin is a delite with large rooms and a wonderful playhouse for little ones. The grounds are nicely landscaped and great for outdoor activities. Its description was accurate on the website and I would highly recommend to anyone. Management also worked with us when we needed to extend a day because we were all suprised by the early birth of our newest granddaughter on our last day. Trying to check out when you get a 6:00am call to the hospital would have been almost impossible.

We were in Asheville for a week prior to my son's graduation from Christ School in Arden. We wanted to be there for the week to enjoy this great city and spend time with all of our friends we have made at school. The house was perfect and we would rent it again!!!!

The children 7 and 8 loved the yard, the swing, and the play house. The home is beautiful. Nicely decorated and plenty of room for everyone, very comfortable. The location is wonderful, secluded yet close to stores and plenty of activities near by. I would recommend getting there in daylight hours. We arrived at night in a rain storm and it was a little tricky but the directions from greybeard were excellent. We would definitely stay again!

the house is a perfect size for a large party. house is located 10 minutes from any where downtown, but yet it doesn't feel like you are in a city. The yard is a great size for a dog. All new appliances in the kitchen and bathroom. Great outdoor seating areas.
