Built in 1947, this unique log home offers a perfect spot for a restful retreat from the noise and hustle of daily life. Arrive by the long, mysterious driveway (drive slowly) and wander the acres of green, sloping lawn and orchard. With proper gear and a good sense of direction, enjoy a short walk in the woods. From the deck watch bunnies run across the grass or gaze out to the mountains. Curl up with a good book. On a clear night, watch for falling stars far from the light pollution of the city. Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are only minutes away. Camp Rockmont (the site of the LEAF Festival) is only a few hundred feet. This property abounds with quiet, privacy, and character.

Carrie's Escape includes WiFi, Roku TV (with streaming capability- no cable), and a gas grill. outdoor fire pit Notes: 4 x 4 is not required; please, drive in and out slowly. The last part of the driveway ascends slightly. At points, vehicles with low clearance may scrape the bottom. The entrance to Camp Rockmont is a few hundred feet beyond our driveway. For star-gazing or other outside activities, please do not use linens from inside the house. Food should NOT be left outside. Sorry, but no pets are allowed at Carrie's Escape.

It was our 1st time to the mountain area as a family and the house and trip met our goal. It afforded us the time to cook, laugh, play games, watch movies, hike and make smores, together! We wished we could have stayed longer. Everything we needed was there in town and at the house. Maybe adding a TV to the main bedroom, would be nice. The only small issue is the internet is not that strong for a family of 5 streaming!!!!! and a blind/curtain for the back door. Other than that, we didn't have a want for anything.

The deck and fire pit were terrific. We were pleasantly surprised to find so many nice shops and restaurants in the downtown area of Black Mountain.

The (non-creepy) cabin in the mountains feel is unmatched. The view was great! Wood burning stove is an awesome touch. Very rustic.

Carrie's Escape was comfortable and accommodating. The views are gorgeous, and there is lots of space outdoors for our little one to run around and get some fresh air.

Beautiful home, quiet, great views, fig trees outside, great location, large space, cozy rooms. Most of all, incredibly kind and helpful staff!

The peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The wonderful view of the mountains. The wild turkeys wandering by us and staring at us. The feeling of never wanting to go back.

This location had a beautiful view. There was a firepit in front of the house looking out over the mountains. The cabin was fully stocked with firewood, coffee, tea, spices, etc. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed the rural flavor of this cabin! One morning we woke up to 5 turkeys in the back yard. Another morning we woke up to a turkey - and a cow - in the front yard! Very relaxing and homey atmosphere. It was close enough to go back and forth to Ashville, and still could enjoy the small-town shops of Black Mountain. The kids really liked hiking in the Montreat Conference Center grounds.

I would recommend this cabin to anyone.

It was clean, comfortable and we were visited by wild turkeys twice a day! So relaxing to sit by the fire at night! Comfortable beds and very well equipped.

The cabin was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and using the fire pit. The realty team sent very helpful updates and notifications to remind us exactly what we needed to do for check-in and check-out. We would definitely come back!

The cabin was excellent, rustic but up to date. The setting was nice with no real view of neighbors. There is a farm close by so the animals could be heard but it did not bother us at all. The WIFI was spotty at times but overall the location and cabin were excellent. I would definitely stay there again. My kids loved the outdoor swing and we had a fire and made smores on the last night.

Loves this cabin, it was perfect for my family of 6. Lovely Mountain View's watching the fog roll by every morning and fires in the fire pit in the evenings. My kids loved the swing, and we're thrilled by the cows and donkeys in the field next door. The baby donkey and mother cane over to say hello to the kids and it was a highlight of the trip for the kids. Great location - only 10 min to the grocery store, 20 min to Asheville and good central spot for day trips to the north (Mt. Mitchell, Catawba Falls, South Toe River) and south (Blue Ridge Pkwy, Sliding Tick, etc). The cabin was so clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

Part of me doesn't want to write this, because the less people that know about this place, the more likely I'll be able to book it again, but I was so happy with the stay that I feel like I need to rave about it. This place is amazing. It's very isolated (couldn't see any neighbors) and the views of the mountains from the windows are breathtaking. They house comes fully stocked with tea and honey, pots and pans, and board games. It was very spacious and peaceful. Nice place to stargaze. I had to call Greybeard once when the GPS didn't take me to the house. I called their after hours line and a woman answered immediately and directed me to the house. Great company and magnificent mountain home. We loved our stay.

The cabin itself was very clean and neat. It was spacious enough for a family of five, with each kid having their own room. The look of the cabin was just what we wanted, rustic yet modern where it counts. The Gray Beard staff we coordinated with were very professional and helpful.

The cabin was beautiful. I loved the fire pit and all the rooms. There were also great small touches like the games, single use laundry pack, and the pumpkin bread from a local bakery.

Carrie's Place is a very comfortable cottage conveniently located between Black Mountain and Asheville. Great views and quiet at night.

The property was clean, well maintained, and surprisingly well stocked. Beds we're made, towels were laid out, there were great instructions everywhere on how to use things, and there was even some bread for us to eat. Our kids loved the swing in the front yard, and we loved the yard and mountain views from the kitchen table. We were really impressed with Greybeard Rentals and we'll use them for all future mountain vacations.

6 girls stayed here for a weekend getaway. The house was perfect for all of us. It was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us comfortably. The house was difficult to find, but that was partially because we were arriving late at night. The neighbor was kind enough to point us in the right direction. Our one complaint (and this doesn't really pertain to the house) is that there are no ubers or lyfts in the area. We had to drive a few miles out to a Walmart to get an Uber to get to Downtown Asheville.

Sorry to hear about the trouble finding the home - we generally recommend that guests arrive to any of our rentals during daylight hours as navigation can be difficult in the mountains at night. Sorry about your trouble with Uber and Lyft access. Both do service Black Mountain to downtown Asheville on a regular basis, so I'm not sure why none were available. Come back again soon!

My husband, sons (21, 18) enjoyed the best family Christmas vacation ever! CE was the perfect setting—beautifully rustic, clean, extremely comfortable. We enjoyed warmth of wood stove, playing games, napping/reading comfy furniture. Outside we grilled hotdogs, made somores on the fire pit on deck, took long walks in the beautiful woods, and traveled to downtown Black Mountain and notable nature trails. In winter, you can observe houses and private spaces where families with low wealth make their home. However, this did not make me feel uncomfortable or unsafe. I was happy my sons observed how many families live in contrast to our urban setting. CE is secluded from view of others with open fields, woods, pasture close by, and open/dark space in which to observe the stars.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking anything. There were basic spices available also. We brought some of our own pans, but did not need them. Our only complaint was the wi-fi/internet seemed to cut out at times, but it did not stop my college age kids from being on their phones. A discount card to the local supermarket was available and was an unexpected bonus. That saved us a few dollars.

We had a lovely stay at this charming log cabin! It was the perfect combination of a rustic escape in the mountains with all the amenities of home. The property was beautiful and our boys loved playing in the large yard. The cabin was tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable (other than than a few visiting bugs and spiders). The location was convenient and felt like a remote escape in the woods while being only 15-20 minutes from Asheville.

We come here every year, and every year we love it! Such a nice, cozy cabin, but also plenty space to spread out if you like. The kids (and adults) loved the new swing! We like how private it is but still close enough to Black Mountain and Montreat. Everything was clean, the kitchen was well stocked.

Very clean cabin, with plenty of space for the 4 of us. 6 would be comfortable, too. Surrounded by a very large well maintained yard and trees to afford privacy. The neighborhood area outside of this space is poor and rundown, but you don't notice that when at the cabin. If you are a snob, you wouldn't like it. Recommend a GPS to get places. Close to Asheville. I liked the old-time feel to the place. Reminds me of a cabin my parents would have built and furnished. Would like to stay here again. Management friendly and helpful. Loved the Brazilian restaurant in Asheville. We spent all of Saturday at Biltmore Estate. Hiked in the mountains another day. We stayed just 2 nights, but wish we had stayed a week, there is so much to do and see. Loved the quiet, country atmosphere. I would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the was listed as three bedrooms but it actually had four bedrooms. One bedroom was small but it was perfect for us.The only bad thing was the road leading to the cabin was very rough.You had to be very careful driving on it

This is our second year staying in this cabin and we have been so happy with our stay both times. It has a cozy feel but is also spacious for our three families. We enjoyed hiking in the woods and walking around Black Mountain. The Dynamite coffee shop is close by and a great option for good coffee and a relaxing atmosphere. The grounds are also nice for playing outside. The kids enjoyed collecting pine cones and going on \"expeditions\" in the woods. In the evening we enjoyed reading and doing puzzles by the wood stove. We will be back next year for sure!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Carrie's Escape is located in Black Mountain. This home is approximately 8 minutes to downtown Black Mountain, 20 minutes to Asheville, and 45 minutes to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Carrie's Escape is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Carrie's Escape has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

This home has a firepit and woodstove. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Carrie's Escape. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
