Nestled in the heart of Black Mountain, Blueberry Grove lives up to its namesake as a registered NC organic blueberry farm that is situated on a sprawling 5 acres. This private mini-arboretum offers spectacular grounds that include a significant portion of Flat Creek within the property boundary as it runs along the greenway. In addition to over 100 blueberry bushes, there are 500+ native trees and flowering plants that have recently been added to the forest and gardens! You will also be surprised to discover that by walking for less than 5 minutes, you end up in the middle of downtown Black Mountain. The closest restaurants &  breweries are across the street from the property and yet you still feel embraced in your own little oasis.  

Upon entering this cozy & contemporary home, you'll enter the living room that is furnished with local art and handcrafted shelving supplied with numerous books, puzzles, and board games for you to enjoy. In the evening, watch the sunset over the majestic mountains in the rocking chairs on the front porch before returning inside to craft a delicious meal in the sleek kitchen complete with stainless appliances and ample pantry space for any supplies you pick up in town or at the farmer’s market. On those summer evenings, use the charcoal grill on the outdoor patio to make some baked potatoes or fresh kabobs. After dinner, venture into the backyard with a glass of wine while walking beside the creek & along the forest trails. As the night sky fills with stars, gather around the outdoor fire pit to roast s’mores and enjoy the firefly light show. If you’re not quite ready to turn in for the night, play a few rounds of ping pong inside the newly remodeled party barn—you are on vacation after all!

In the morning, enjoy your coffee on the screened porch with the windows open to let in the fresh breeze while catching a glimpse of beautiful wildlife like deer and rabbits. After coffee, work on creative projects at the desk area in the primary bedroom or curl up on the couch with a good book. When you’re ready, take a quick stroll into “The Little Town that Rocks,” Black Mountain, where you’ll spot the iconic red rocking chairs that stand as your reminder to slow down, pull up a chair, and relax. Filled with shops and art galleries, you can easily spend the entire day shopping for artisan goods to help you remember your time in the mountains. As your morning coffee begins to wear off, stop into the Dripolator Coffeehouse to grab house-roasted coffee & locally-made pastries. For lunch, walk next door to enjoy delicious pub fare at The Trailhead, or pop into My Father’s Pizza for fantastic made-to-order pizza.

For avid hikers, Lookout Mountain is a great trail in nearby Montreat that is just under a mile long and offers stunning panoramic mountain views. Also in Montreat is the 4.8-mile Graybeard trail that offers incredible views that are especially popular in the fall when the color-changing foliage is at its peak. In the late afternoon, grab a drink at Lookout Brewing Co. before sitting down to dinner at local favorite, Ole’s Guacamoles. Sip a cold margarita on their outdoor patio by the creek and eat your weight in chips & queso. Return home to stream your favorites on the smart TV that includes cable and DVR so you can record the big game or that new episode while you’re out and about.

Brimming with thoughtful touches & providing vast outdoor spaces with regional flowers, a babbling creek, and magical woodlands, the winsome ambiance & unparalleled convenience of Blueberry Grove will make you feel as if you’ve been transported to your own private mountain sanctuary in the middle of town!

Please note: There are several exterior ring doorbell cameras situated around the property. This property is dog-friendly with an additional fee, and there is a small fenced-in area next to the house. The gas log fireplace in the living room is NOT usable. 

In order to keep the grounds in tip-top shape, the property's gardener, a native plant specialist, will be there 2-3 times a week during peak seasons and is always happy to answer questions about regional flora and fauna. Guests are invited to pick as many berries as they can from late July through early September. Peak blueberry season is usually the entire month of August.

Since Easter was early this year, the weather was cold and we couldn’t be outside with the grandchildren as much as we had planned but we still had a wonderful family time. The house was immaculately clean. The cookware and other kitchen items were very nice which is unusual for a vacation rental. Because of past experiences in other rentals, I take my own cookware on vacation but didn’t even have to unload mine for this house. The property is beautifully maintained and landscaped. We enjoyed strolls around the grounds and to the creek. The house is only a few minutes from downtown and lots of restaurants. We highly recommend this vacation home.

Camp Friends Retreat

The home accommodates 6 people easily and there is enough dining space for 10 if you have guest. 4 of us shared the home while visiting the area for a reunion. The home is relatively new, tastefully decorated And very comfortable. The property is large and bordered by a creek. There is a fire pit Available which we used last year, but it was too warm this year. The oven is not hearing properly. Greybeard was very prompt with maintenance to address the issue, but it still did not heat well enough to heat a casserole I will provide more detail to Greybeard so they can address it. It is really the only issue we had. The home is in an excellent location to access wonderfully small independent restaurants so we had a good reason to go out more.

Highly recommend Blueberry Grove! It is a lovely house on a beautiful piece of property. The only negative is the mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced.

My family will reserve Blueberry Grove again. The house, the grounds, the creek all made the best vacation. We really appreciated that it had a washer and dryer. The games in the barn were wonderful. Just wish the blueberries had been ready to pick. There are going to be so many in July!

Relaxing oasis and walkable to downtown Black Mountain

Beautiful newer home with well tended landscaping and blueberry grove. The property is exactly as described and photographed. Well appointed kitchen, very comfortable beds, beautiful local art on the walls, and much attention to detail throughout the house. The home exudes charm, warmth and a nice family home spirit. There are front and back porches, a wonderful barn with games including a ping pong table, and a bubbling brook that runs through the property. The Greybeard rental company is excellent, as they seem to run this property as if it were a fancy hotel. There is a short walk to downtown and area restaurants.

We rented Blueberry Grove as a gathering place for family members traveling to Black Mountain from Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania to spend Christmas week with out mother who lives here. Although the weather was unusually cold, the house was warm and cozy. We bundled up and enjoyed playing ping-pong tournaments in the party barn, visiting around the blazing fire pit, cooking on the grill and in the well-stocked kitchen, and walking around the beautiful grounds enjoying the wintry, ice-laced Flat Creek. Everything in the house is clean and new, and there are lots of thoughtful touches throughout: local art, games, helpful labels on light switches, clear and friendly instructions and suggestions for things to do, lots of things to do and different areas to gather (living room, porch, patio, party barn, fire pit, etc.), plenty of firewood -- and the list goes on. We also appreciated being able to check in early when some of our family members arrived ahead of schedule. Thank you for a wonderful stay! :)

The house was decorated so thoughtfully with works by local artists, furnishings are comfortable, everything designed for guest comfort. We loved the huge yard and barn filled with games. The fire pit came in handy as a gathering spot for the family.

My first impression when we drove up and saw the gardens so nicely kept was a jaw hanging open and an \"oh my gosh\"! The gardens are beautiful and so nicely maintained. The inside of the house is just as beautifully appointed and comfortable. We loved how clean it was. Normally the first thing that I do when we get to a rental is to wash dishes do that I know they are clean but I had no worries here.

We loved the heater fan in the primary bathroom, the hand held shower head in the guest bath, the fantastic back porch and outdoor furniture. It was all very nice. I meant to take pictures and video of the kitchen counter. It was gorgeous and we are remodeling our primary bathroom next year. I want to find this same granite to use in our bathroom.

Our dogs loved walking around the yard every day and sniffing what critters had wandered through in the overnight hours. The fenced in yard was perfect for them to get their zoomies out.

The only thing I could think of is to have blinds in the windows about the bed in the primary bedroom. I like a really dark room for sleeping and a fair amount of light came through the 2 windows without blinds. Thankfully I always travel with a sleep mask so it wasn't waking me up at 6am. Trust me, I'm not pleasant at that time of morning. LOL

We loved our stay so much. This was our favorite mountain rental ever. Our older dog just finished chemotherapy for aggressive cancer. This may have been our last family vacation with him and he enjoyed his adventures here. We could not have hoped for more. We made memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you!

The was spotless, beautifully decorated and in an ideal location. So much to do just on the property and in the middle of Black Mountain's great downtown.

Blueberry Grove was just what we needed. My 8 and 11 year old grandgirls loved exploring the beautiful farm. They spent time wading in the creek, picking blueberries, playing in the "party barn," and reading on the porches. The home is furnished very well and guarantees a comfortable, relaxing visit. We were all sad to leave.

Fabulous comfortable home in a wonderful location in Black Mountain. Lovely updated interior with a spacious yard and also easy walking distance to everything in town. Highly recommend.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Blueberry Grove. The house is spacious, clean, and well stocked with everything we needed. The outdoor space is incomparable and perfect for our little ones to safely explore outside. It is very close to downtown and a short walk for coffee or lunch at many great options.

A fantastic house and property … great to sit out by the creek in late afternoon shade listening to the sounds of the water. Walking trails all along the creek. House is very clean, well stocked kitchen, with a nice sunroom. Great location … very convenient to restaurants and downtown area … walkable yet is very private.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Blueberry Grove is located in Black Mountain and is less than a 5-minute drive and 8-minute walk to its downtown area, and it's approximately 20 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Blueberry Grove is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Blueberry Grove has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION & WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD PROVIDED?

The indoor gas logs fireplace at Blueberry Grove is NOT functional. However, there is an outdoor fire pit at the home to enjoy. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard, but some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use. We recommend purchasing your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs, or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Blueberry Grove. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
