A sloping, wooded lot offers welcome seclusion while a large rocking chair porch invites you to simply "Be Still." This cottage is located in the tranquil and charming community of Montreat with convenient access to Lake Susan, the Montreat Conference Center, and numerous hiking and biking trails.

About the House
• Kitchen with standard, drip-style coffee maker and dining area with seating for 4.
• Living room with TV and a selection of DVDs. There is no cable TV, but the cottage has TV reception with a digital antenna and a built-in DVD player.
• Covered front porch with swing, rocking chairs, and outdoor dining for 4.
• Parking is available for 2 cars. Access from the lower parking area is approximately 24 steps. Access from the upper, back parking area is a gravel walkway to the front porch.
• There is no central air conditioning but a window unit is located in the kitchen.
• Sheets and towels are provided for your convenience.

We love this house! The porch is absolute heaven and the interior set up beautifully. It is the perfect Montreat retreat.

Be Still is our home away from home! Cutest mountain cabin around and perfect in every way! We have stayed in Be Still for many vacations and recommend it unreservedly. Only 2 miles from darling Black Mountain and many fun, close-by activities. Be sure and take the scenic boat tour of beautiful Lake Lure, less than an hour from Be Still.

We've stayed at this house for the same week the last seven years. It's perfect for our family of 3: simple, tidy, minimalist. Because of its elevation above street level, its front porch is really private--like a treehouse.

We rented 4 different houses for our wedding weekend and it was perfect. All 4 houses either had great views or were super accessible to great views. They were clean and very livable. When we return, we would go the rental route again with Grey Beard Rentals. I loved working with Susan, she was so personable and made sure our stay was fantastic.

Peaceful, delightful place to be. Went to Be Still with my Mom for a long weekend getaway and would definitely recommend this place, actually we already have told some friends about it.

Be Still allows you to unwind and remember what it's like to enjoy yourself. I love the simplicity of the cabin...a good reminder of the fact that most of us have too much stuff. The little touches like fresh plants and flowers and pumpkin bread are so welcoming. The new mattress in the master bedroom is fantastic. Preparing and cleaning up after meals is fun. Love the window AC unit because that's what I grew up with. Our small group of three had so much fun talking, laughing, relaxing. Thank you, Be Still!

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Be Still is located in Montreat. This home is approximately a 10-minute drive to Black Mountain and a 30-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Be Still is not “pet friendly.” Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS THERE AN OUTDOOR FIRE PIT? 

This home does NOT provide an outdoor fire pit. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside since the property does not provide a fire ring/fire pit, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Be Still. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
