Description

The Barn is a fully-contained guest cottage with a king size bed on the upper level. The main floor is a fully open floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living areas. The kitchen provides a full kitchen that includes an apartment size refrigerator & dishwasher, combo washer/dryer, and all other modern kitchen needs. The living room provides a large TV with Roku streaming capabilities. Main floor bathroom includes a 2-person soaker tub and hand held shower only.

The Barn has a private entrance and separate parking area tucked in behind the main house and is situated on 20 acres in the foothills of the Pisgah National Forest that guests are welcome to explore. Two creeks cross the property just in front of The Rock House and across the road from The Barn that guests can enjoy.

The Barn at Maple Hill was once a fully-functioning barn that was converted in 2018 into a beautiful one bedroom guest cottage with everything that guests would need for a cozy weekend or a longer stay. It was moved to it's current location in the 1950's from a neighboring family farm, but the underlying timber frame is over 100 years old. Some of the original framing elements were preserved in the conversion, including the interior sliding barn door and the timbers for the stair railing.

PLEASE NOTE: The Barn is having a cover added September 2020 for guests to enjoy the outdoors at all times, updated exterior photos to come after completion!

On the same property is The Rock House at Maple Hill that may be rented separately.

FAQ

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

The Barn at Maple Hill is located in Marion. This home is approximately 8 minutres to Old Fort, 15 minutes to downtown Marion, 20 minutes to Black Mountain, and approximately 35 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map. For larger parties, the home next door The Rock House at Maple Hill is available. 

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

The Barn has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

The Barn at Maple Hill is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at The Barn. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

The amenities were great and up to date. The location was perfect for our getaway secluded and close to all the beautiful hiking locations like Catawba Falls (recommend!), to the charming town of Marion and only 30 min from Asheville.

My husband and I celebrated our 14 wedding anniversary. With everything going on with COVID-19 it was good to get away and relaxed. Holley eased our mind with the courtesy calls and the agency ensures us with the cleanliness. I can't wait to book again. We will definitely highly recommend!

It was very quiet and romantic. We enjoyed being close to Black Mtn and Asheville without being in the middle of the hustle bustle. The neighbors dogs were super friendly and came over everyday to say hi!! 💖💖💖
