Thoughtfully designed with luxury in mind, Wallace Mountain Lodge seamlessly blends its natural surroundings with an opulent cabin experience. Overlooking the Lake Burnett Reservoir and acres upon acres of protected forest, you're able to get away from it all while still being only 10 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Every design element at Wallace Mountain Lodge has been lovingly and carefully curated—from the placement of windows to maximize the unparalleled view to top-notch furnishings with local art, photography, and historical treasures and collectibles.

The main level of the home boasts a gourmet kitchen and an open living room and dining space for 12 overlooking stunning, sweeping views of the mountains and reservoir. An impressive primary suite offers a king-size bed, a walk-in shower, and an easily accessible washer and dryer. Also on the main level is a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a bedroom with two twin beds, and a full bathroom with hallway access. Custom open stairs lead to a loft-style bonus space complete with a game table, seating, and an assortment of books that include local authors.

The upper level provides a bedroom with a queen-size bed and en suite bathroom, a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a twin bunk bed, and a full bathroom with hallway access. Outside, the spacious deck provides covered dining for 8 with a variety of seating options to enjoy a glass of wine as you watch clouds roll across the mountain peaks. A wood-burning fire pit creates the perfect space to unwind and recount the adventures of the day.

Please Note: This home does NOT allow pets. While the road to the property is gravel and occasionally steep, AWD or 4WD is not required but is recommended. The garage is not accessible to guests. This home is equipped with high-speed internet through Viasat, and there is a Xumo Stream Box on the living room TV. All TVs are streaming only.

Right at home and what a view!

A beautiful drive just outside the quaint friendly town of Black Mountain stands this beautiful home on top of a mountain. You do have about a 3-4 minute drive up a curvy unpaved road, but once you arrive, you feel like you are on top of the world. This home presents itself with a welcoming atmosphere, gorgeous mountain/trees/water view. The layout of the home is perfect - so much so that I would love to take this floor plan and build my dream home from it. It really is quite perfect. Not too big, but spacious enough to host a good size family or group of friends quite comfortably. The kitchen is well set up with loads of dishes for cooking, baking and group meals. The harvest dining table seats 12. The kitchen island is huge with about 6 stools to gather around. The family room is open concept on the main floor and has a comfy sofa for kicking back and relaxing. There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. This home is an excellent vacation home, we highly recommend you stay. We enjoyed our stay immensely and appreciated the comfort, the cleanliness and the lovely decor and special extras like books and games that make for a lovely experience. We hope to come back one day!

The most beautiful mountain house I have rented in a long time!!!! Plenty of space! Absolutely beautiful view from every room!!! Whoever the interior designer is, we love your work! The themes of the rooms were amazing! We loved the bear!!!! We love black mountain! And we are so happy to see everything getting back to normal!!! Loved the fire pit as well!!! Pretty much a perfect weekend! Thank you !

This beautifully designed home had everything we were looking for - open floor plan and a dining table for 12, but most importantly, spectacular view and large enough deck and outdoor spaces to enjoy it.

The Wallace Mountain Lodge was an absolute dream for our first trip to Black Mountain. The views were truly breathtaking—some of the best we've ever experienced from any vacation rental. The home itself is stunning, spotless, and stocked with everything you could possibly need (and more!). I've never seen a kitchen so thoughtfully equipped—there wasn't a single thing we wished we had.The beds were incredibly comfortable, and every detail of the décor—from the furniture to the little touches throughout—made the space feel warm and inviting. We loved having both the grill and the firepit for relaxing evenings outside, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The shower water pressure was just okay, but that's to be expected in a remote mountain setting (and we're super picky about shower water pressure.)All in all, Wallace Mountain Lodge exceeded our expectations, and we'd 100% stay here again without hesitation.

The perfect setting

When you set out to find the perfect rental, you usually have to compromise on something. A lumpy bed, less than ideal amenities, a bad location, etc. But not at Wallace Mountain. The best beds and furniture, everything you could ever need and some things you didn't even know you needed, and the absolute best views in the entire Swannanoa Valley. This is a gem that is not to be missed. The most wonderful time was had by all.

Wallace Mountain Lodge is a stunning home! The view is beautiful, the house is spacious, clean, well stocked. We had a wonderful stay and this property is at the top of our list for our annual trip to Black Mountain.

The Wallace Mountain Lodge was a terrific spot for our family gathering. There was plenty of space for 6 adults and 3 kids. We really appreciated how nice and clean it was plus it had toys and games for everyone to enjoy. The view is amazing and much better in person. The firepit is a great spot to spend the evening and we will definitely plan on coming back.

We found this property when we had an opportunity to travel during our kids’ break. The house had everything we needed plus amazing views of the mountains and lake. We visited the Biltmore and Asheville while here. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Wallace Mountain Lodge. Right from the start at check-in all the way to check-out time everything was simple. The property was clean and everything in order. Had an immediate response when we reached out via text for some help. Excellent service and would definitely return and recommend to others.

There were 9 of us, age 11-71, and we loved the home atop the hill! Great accommodations, clean, beautiful view, and plenty of space. We had 2 AWD vehicles, and had no issues getting up/ down the trail while wet and muddy. No bear sightings during our 5 day stay, but there’s a cardinal that likes to visit the side door each morning. :) Our entire family enjoyed our stay!

This place is awesome. I invited 5 couples to this cabin for weekend away. They trusted me to pick a good spot. I blew them away. At least 20 times over the 3 days I was complemented on my selection skills. Not only is the house one of the best I have been in, it probably has the best view in WNC. Top notch kitchen, super clean, very comfortable. If you want to feel like a genius. Book this place for family or friends then sit back and take in the compliments.

We loved staying at Wallace Mountain Lodge! It was a bit of a hike up the mountain (the home is at the very top) but once we got there the views were absolutely amazing! The pictures really didn’t do it justice. The home was beautiful and was perfect for our group. We had small kids and with the exception of needing to baby gate the stairs, it was baby friendly! It was truly a great place to relax and unwind for a few days (and even see some nature — we saw a family of bears, deer, birds, etc). We will definitely come back!

Family Reunion At Black Mountain

A beautiful mountain lodge with a spectacular view. Perched on top of a mountain near Ashville, NC, Wallace Mountain Lodge has all the amenities of a top-rated hotel with the feeling of a rustic cabin. Our nine family members each had their own room and personal space whenever we all weren't enjoying each other's company in the large great room and kitchen. There is easy access to the quaint town of Black Mountain and the unique city of Asheville as well as the surrounding attractions like the Biltmore Estate, Bat Cave, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The nearby Interstates make travel north, south, east, and west a snap. We will return.

We had 7 women and the space was great for this large group! Such a fabulous view! Kitchen had everything we needed and more! Greybeard staff was so helpful throughout.

This property was so perfect for our family get away! There were so many nice amenities but the top one was the kitchen. The best kitchen we have EVER had in a VRBO! Excellent location with stunning views. The process was simple. We enjoyed the bears wandering around. They came right up on the deck!
