After walking along the bridge entrance into the home, you'll be greeted by the high vaulted ceilings, spacious open floor plan, and unobstructed view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Gather around the stone, floor-to-ceiling wood-burning fireplace to watch your favorite movies on the smart TV complete with a sleek soundbar that delivers high-quality surround sound to enhance your screening experience. Listen to music on the iHome charging deck while crafting a delicious meal for your family and friends in the fully-stocked kitchen that boasts a variety of streamlined utensils, including a smooth surface stove, immersion blender, Instant Pot, and coffee makers (Keurig and Standard Drip), just to name a few.

During the warmer months, take advantage of the sunshine and gas grill to create some savory seasonal favorites that you can enjoy on the covered back deck with the refreshing mountain breeze and breathtaking views. After dinner, unwind and relax in the 6-person hot tub with a glass of wine or stargaze (with s'mores) around the outdoor fire pit. Each morning, watch the sun rise over the mountains while sipping your coffee before exploring the community waterfall and creek, hiking with your dog, using the guest mountain bikes and helmets to traverse nearby rugged trails, playing a round of ping pong or pool in the garage, or trying your hand at cornhole.

Just 30 minutes from the shops, restaurants, and activities in Black Mountain and 45 minutes from downtown Asheville, this delightful, secluded paradise has something for everyone and is the perfect place for a relaxing couples' weekend getaway, an annual family vacation, or a get-together with your closest friends.

House Layout:
Main Level- Kitchen (island seats 2); Dining table seats 6; Living room with wood-burning fireplace, Apple TV & Direct TV (soundbar for surround sound), and a Queen sleeper sofa; Primary bedroom with a King bed (new Beautyrest Hybrid Mattress added Fall 2019), a wireless printer, and a full bath with newly-installed bidet and walk-in shower
Lower Level- Bedroom with a Queen bed. A full hall bath; Laundry nook with washer and dryer; Garage with ping pong table, pool table, 2 mountain bikes with helmets for guests to use, and corn hole boards. Please note that the garage is not usable for your car.
Outdoors- Large covered deck on the main level with a hot tub, gas grill, and dining tables that seat up to 8. A fire pit with seating for 4 was added in June 2019. A fenced-in backyard was added in 2020 so your pups can run freely without a leash.

Please note: Up to two dogs of any size are welcome at Timber Hideaway during your stay for an additional fee. Due to the owner's allergies, regretfully, no cats are allowed. There is a "whole house" generator that prevents you from experiencing any power outages. Firewood is provided. Please be aware that the last mile of the road to the house is gravel and steep in some areas. During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development.

From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community.

My husband and I enjoyed our weekend getaway at Timber Hideaway. It was absolutely perfect! We arrived after dark on Friday, and when we got in, I was so surprised to see a Christmas tree all lit up next to the fireplace. It made our arrival extra nice and cozy. The beautiful mountain view first thing in the morning is picture perfect! Our dogs enjoyed having the back yard too! This is definitely a cabin we will come back to in the future. Thank you Greybeard for the hospitality!

Timber Hideaway was outstanding! The home is beautiful, comfortable and fully equipped with everything a guest could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The gate was never closed / locked throughout our 5 days there so we didn’t need or use the key cards. The only suggestion I would make for the homeowner would be to add some hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels. One suggestion for Greybeard (I don’t think you already do this) would be to include information regarding the closest grocery store / drug store as those conveniences are vital for travelers unfamiliar with the area. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!

This cabin was in a great location. The distance between cabins was large enough that made it feel very private. There were plenty of supplies available in the cabin that you don’t want to bring with you that make the cabin feel more like home. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in back yard although it is fairly steep downhill. We loved the walk along the river and the falls located in the neighborhood. Overall an excellent cabin in an excellent location.

Good morning we’re sorry we just missed the snow however such a great place to stay! The cabin was prepared, amazingly very clean. The amenities were just what we needed. I love the old town Atmosphere! However, we stayed mainly in the cabin Around the fireplace! I would definitely give five ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I will also be back very soon thank you all so much, We also left it just like we found it, Made sure everything was clean and followed the instructions on checkout!

We rented for a long weekend. This house was very well stocked with everything you will need. I have rented other homes and they did not come with such a great stocked kitchen of everything you need. The beds were great, the hot tub amazing, but the view was the best of all. Would totally stay again. I think my only negative is that you can't get into the house from the garage driveway area, where you have to park. If there was access to open the garage it would have made it more convenient.

The only reason our rating wasn't EXCELLENT is due to the difficulty we had moving all our belongings into the house.Our choice of was either through the garage and then up 16 steps or down the front wall which required rock climbing gear to get to the front door.That is the only reason we will not come back to Timber Hideaway.

This home exceeded our expectations. We frequently rent properties in the mountains, either in Boone or near Asheville. Timber Hideaway has been the best thus far. Beautiful development, amazing views from the house, wonderful amenities (you will want for NOTHING as far as cooking!!). Many of the "little" things often forgotten with renting are all taken care of at this home. And, if you are bringing your sweet pup, it is home away from home for them. We hope to come back soon - only wish it was a bit larger to accommodate our entire family. (Or not, haha!!)Thanks for one of the most memorable vacations.

AMAZING LAST MINUTE GETAWAY

First off, the fact that they provide you with guided instructions on how to get to the check-in location and the cabin were a God send. GPS is bonkers up there. When we arrived, the house was so clean and inviting. I was happy to see there were dog bowls and treats available for our two. They were so excited and spent a lot of time running around in the fully fenced in back yard. I loved the little Gramophone where you could place your phone and amplify your music. Ample dishes, cookware, place settings, space. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed staying there. The hot tub was wonderful, as was the firepit in the back. My only issue was that the bed was too soft. That is not a dig on my stay. Mattress firmness is a preference. So I am not going to complain. I booked this one day in advance as a last-minute decision, and there were absolutely no issues. When the gate key didn't work, a quick text to the main office, and everything was taken care of. I wish I could live in that cabin for the rest of my life. I cannot give you all enough praise!

Loved our second stay at Timber Hideaway. Very comfortable and pleasant, very much a second home feel. Gorgeous view of the mountains from the deck (and hot tub), bedrooms and living area. Incredibly private. Easy access to the surrounding area. Can’t ask for more!

This home is beautiful and the view is spectacular. The home has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Gateway Mountain has great hiking trails-definitely take the hike to the waterfall. Located near Lake Lure, Linville Falls, Black Mountain the Blueridge Parkway and more.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin! The weather was perfect! We opened up the windows and enjoyed all our time in the hot tub enjoying the beautiful view. All the furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with all we needed to prepare meals for our stay. I did plan meals out and made sure we had all ingredients necessary before coming up the mountain. As an avid gardener, I enjoyed the care and description of the landscape around the cabin. We didn’t see any bears on our stay, but did see a coyote, and heard a fox at night. Otherwise, the bats were fun to watch at dusk. It was the perfect, relaxing getaway! Definitely beware the falling walnuts in early fall! We parked up by the front door because the trees by the garage were dropping walnuts right and left! This trip was exactly what we wanted! I’m sure we’ll be back!

We were extremely pleased with our stay and the professional way in which everything was handled. Everything went exactly as we were told and that was a very welcome surprise compared to other trips not involving Greybeard Rentals. We found everything to be exactly as represented in the photos. Would highly recommend this home. Views are stunning and peaceful. Kitchen is well stocked too. Pay attention to the directions from Greybeard to the house. Google maps had us enter through a further away gate...much scarier drive that way.

Absolutely wonderful cabin getaway. The layout of the cabin worked perfectly for us. The kitchen has everything you need if you decide to stay in and enjoy the amazing views from the hot tub, or deck. It is a lovely quiet location and has easy access in and out of the gated area. The only negative for us was the internet connection. We had several days where we were unable to watch streaming services like Netflix etc on the cabin TV. Our phones had trouble connecting to the WiFi on several occasions. We appreciate it is the mountains therefore service can be spotty but this was a little more than spotty in our opinion. If that’s not an issue for you then this is a great place to stay and explore the beautiful area of NC.

The cabin was spacious with lots of windows to enjoy the trees and mountains from every room. We were fortunate that the leaves were changing colors when we arrived and were vibrant by the time we left. The cabin was easy to access and secluded.

Loved the amenities. The kitchen is fully stocked. You don't need to bring anything. We cooked several meals here. You really have a private experience. Beautiful views.

Getting away to spend some quit time with my wife and Tucker.
We enjoyed exploring the property, riding out to Lake George and hiking down to the beautiful waterfalls.
The rental was really nice and was in a very beautiful and private setting.
While driving on the roads we got to see two bears which was an added bonus for our vacation.

Everything!!! The location was perfect! So close to I-40 but also far enough away that you're nice and secluded. The only negative thing I can say is that the grill is basically unusable. There were brushes in it that were melted and the grill rack is completely falling apart. We were afraid to even try to use it. Luckily the appliances inside were great! Almost everything you could ever need is already there. One of the best things about our trip was that we also got to see a Mama Bear and 3 cubs while we were using the fire pit. It was so sweet and really made our trip even more memorable. The views were gorgeous!! I could've stared outside for hours! And the hot tub was great!! We really enjoyed our trip immensely. We feel so relaxed and rejuvenated.

The cabin was decorated so beautifully. Kitchen had every appliance you could think of. The view was beautiful and the area was very quiet.

We loved the accommodations, everything was as described. Anything you could ever need in the kitchen if you like to cook. Of course, what can I say about the view - just beautiful and peaceful. I am very particular about comfort and the bed does not disappoint - very comfortable! We never left the cabin and enjoyed everything about it. Hot tub was a definite plus. We will be back to experience another Greybeard rental soon! Can't wait.

The home was comfortable, very well appointed, kitchen well supplied for cooking our own meals. Wonderful view, clean, and being able to bring our dog was great. Reasonable drive to Asheville for a nice afternoon downtown.

The home was PERFECT! It was well-equipped and the perfect spot for a little getaway. Would definitely stay again! The check in/out process was super easy as well.

The proximity of the house to multiple different parks and trails was perfect. WAdditionally, the seclusion of this house was better than we had imagined. We felt alone in the mountains and loved every second.

We enjoyed our stay in this incredibly clean and fully stocked cabin. We enjoyed the firepit, fireplace, and the view was beautiful. And an added bonus was the snow! Thank you for allowing us to vacation with our four-legged kids!

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Timer Hideaway. It was impeccably clean and fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. The views are absolutely amazing. It is private providing exactly the getaway from people that we needed and wanted. We were there over Thanksgiving week and were even greeted with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree to top off our holiday week. It is very close to Asheville and to Catawba Falls, which we hiked during our stay. Inside the community, there was gorgeous hiking as well with foliage, waterfalls, and more. And the hot tub was the perfect way to end the evenings. We can't wait to return!

My husband and I rented this house for a long weekend. We really enjoyed the beautiful view of the mountains. We have rented many mountain houses in this area and we have to say this house has the best view. We also enjoyed the hot tub and all the amenities that this beautiful house has to offer including the fire pit, fully stocked kitchen (cookware, utensils, etc.), comfortable king size bed, etc. This house is very cozy and very nicely laid out. We also liked that it was so close to Black Mountain and Lake James - were we did some hiking.

This was exactly what we were looking for; a beautiful cabin with all the amenities, fantastic view and close to hiking and Asheville. We had a couple of questions over the weekend and the staff responded immediately, they were great. We would definitely recommend this cabin to others.

The vacation rental was amazing. It was very clean and had a lot of supplies. The breathtaking view was wonderful. I only wish that the wood was covered with a tarp so that it would have been drier. The only other thing was the blinds were very thin so it was very bright in the bedrooms at 5:30-6am. But overall the property was very beautiful and I would definitely go back.

This place was absolutely heaven on earth! The view from the back deck was breathtaking. The cabin was spotless and welcoming. We had homemade pumpkin bread on the kitchen counter waiting for us which was a special treat. It was just perfect and exactly what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We will definitely go back again and stay longer. We found our “happy place”! It was perfect!

Everything was fine. Very secluded as stated even though close to road. You have to understand this is a gated community. We only saw one car pass the house all week. The house was very nice and warm feeling. The view from the deck was breathtaking. Very quiet and relaxing. The only thing that was an issue was the Apple TV. It recognized our Netflix account once but wouldn’t log in on future attempts. Gave up and watched dish tv. The house had everything that you would need. We did have a mix up on getting our card for the entrance to the community. You need to go into Old Fort to pick up you entrance card.

Our vacation started the moment we stepped inside. The view of the mountains was wonderful. Couches very comfortable. Everything was very clean. Best appointed Kitchen of any rental we have experienced. The Ice and pumpkin bread greeting us was a nice touch. Local information wall helped us find outstanding food venues in Black Mountain.

This cabin is secluded, clean, and comfortable. The house was well-stocked, and the management company put up Christmas lights and left us some locally made pumpkin bread as a gift. The view is beautiful--when it's too cold for outdoor activities, you can just hang out on the couch and view the Black Mountains. One suggestion: please provide trail maps! We kept reading that there were trails in the neighborhood, but without maps, we were unable to locate the trail heads. Local trail maps of popular hikes in the area would be helpful, as well.

We were looking forward to our annual relaxing Girls' weekend in the mountains & Timber Hideaway did not disappoint. The views were extraordinary & I remarked on more than one occasion that it was so quiet & peaceful you could actually hear the leaves falling from the trees! We did wish the house had cable to watch live TV but other than that would not have changed a thing! Well appointed & comfortable - enjoyed a roaring fire each night watching the sunset! Breathtaking & I cannot wait to bring my husband back for a romantic weekend.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Timber Hideaway is located in Old Fort. This home is approximately a 20-minute drive to Black Mountain, a 25-minute drive to Marion, and approximately a 40-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Timber Hideaway is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Timber Hideaway is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 243 Catawba Ave S to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to Timber Hideaway from our Old Fort Office. 

Timber Hideaway has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Timber Hideaway has a wood-burning fireplace and outdoor fire pit for guests to use. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. 

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Timber Hideaway. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
