Sleep alongside the tree tops at Sparrow Cottage, a charming arts and crafts style 2 bedroom cottage that overlooks the mountains within the picturesque, upscale Village of Cheshire. This home is only a short 15-minute drive away from Asheville and mere minutes away from downtown Black Mountain. It is also within walking distance of the YMCA (pool, tennis, and fitness center) and the Village of Cheshire town center. Here you will find several dining options including Beradu, a new restaurant, bar, and specialty market, or Sake Sushi, which boasts high-quality Japanese cuisine. 

The interior of Sparrow Cottage was recently fully updated, including the addition of a spacious downstairs bedroom and bathroom (complete with walk-in shower) connected by interior stairs. Sparrow Cottage also has hardwood floors and fresh paint throughout. This 3-level home has 2 bedrooms, each with a luxurious king-sized bed and a full bathroom. The downstairs bedroom also features a new Roku-based LCD smart TV, a brand-new sofa, a sitting chair, and a coffee table. Up the stairs, you’ll find similar new features alongside a full bath with a spacious shower and laundry area with a washer and dryer. The upstairs bedroom does not have a TV but features a deck for viewing High Windy Mountain while sipping on your beverage of choice!
 
The main level has a new LCD Smart TV with a new soundbar, new furniture, a new refrigerator, microwave, Nespresso, cooking utensils, and dishes. The living room features a gas-log fireplace and a new kitchen table and chairs. Step out on the deck and relax under the stars. Use the new Weber grill year-round to grill fresh foods for an enjoyable feast. Gather around the outdoor fire pit to stay warm on those chilly nights. Fresh linens and towels are provided for your convenience, and a mini-split A/C system was installed upstairs to enhance your overall comfort.

Please Note: Due to the owners' severe allergies, no pets are allowed. This home has 2 exterior security cameras (one on the main level front porch and the other on the lower level entry area). The fire pit and chairs are stored beneath the deck when not in use to make room for overflow parking.

Have stayed at Sparrow Cottage multiple times and love it. My only recommendation for improvement would be a flat parking spot out front. The driveway is not for the faint of heart. I could never rent there in the winter. Greybeard is great to work with. Excellent service and communication.

Excellent house for two couples with two master bedroom suites. The driveway and parking were a little challenging for my large truck. Great location near Black Mountain in a beautiful, landscaped mountain community.

Beautiful home with great views and everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Perfect space for our family. The house is located in a wonderful convenient subdivision and stocked with anything you could need. Plenty of trails and paths to walk and close to necessities.

The location was perfect for my young kids and us. Walking trails, grocery store, and restaurants all within 5 minutes.
The cottage itself is the perfect combination of mountain life and modern accommodations.

The house was arranged so that two couples had great privacy and space with two master bedrooms, one on the top floor and one on the walk out basement level with the living, dining and kitchen area on the floor between the two. The house was very nicely furnished and comfortable. We enjoyed appetizers and wine at the table on the balcony during sunset and enjoyed the fire pit one cold night.

Cozy, nicely decorated cottage in wooded setting. We love the convenience of the Village of Cheshire. Easy accessibility to downtown restaurants and stores, grocery store and mountain roads to explore.

Everything! It was our first time to Black Mt. and we loved the town and the Cheshire Village. Nicely decorated and perfect for two couples. The pumpkin bread and fall decorations were a nice touch. Only downside is the driveway and wish there had been an outside trash instead of having to take it off the property.

We enjoyed our stay. It was a quiet village. Kids loved the trail around the creek. The kitchen had everything you could need. It was a great home base for all our adventures into the mtns.

Cheshire village was a lovely community that gave us plenty opportunities for walks and the feeling that we were in the mountains. We felt safe in the community and really liked the opportunity to walk to the little village for dinner or grocery needs. We were close to Asheville and the town of Black mountain, but felt like we had escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. The Cottage itself was beautifully equipped and quite comfortable. We especially liked sitting out on the porch and sitting in front of the fireplace on a cool evening. Perfect getaway for a couple or a family or a group of friends.

Sparrow Cottage is lovely, and so convenient. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the essentials, and the bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The layout is perfect for people travelling together with one bedroom on tbe upper floor and the other on tbe lower floor, and the luving area between the two.

I came to Black Mountain for one item on my vacation--see the mountains. And see them I did. What made the Sparrow Cottage spectacular was that it was convenient to get to places I needed to go (mainly, the grocery store), came with a gas grill to cook lunch and dinner with, had options to set individual climate zones (some like it warm, others cooler), and the view was incredible. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen (lots of work surfaces) and then lounging in the recliner afterwards.

The house is perfect for our small family. Great amenities and lovely quiet neighborhood. Close enough to Asheville to enjoy the city and isolated enough to feel like a true vacation.

We and another couple shared this house for a 4-day getaway in early October. It met our needs perfectly. We were so grateful to find a house with 2 extremely comfortable king beds, separate bathrooms, and a kitchen that allowed us to cook and eat in. We used the gas grill on several occasions. Stairs to up and downstairs sleeping spaces were a bit steep, but we managed. As others have said, the driveway was also a little crazy. Decor was tasteful, modern, and neutral, much appreciated. Watch out for the bear that greeted us outside the front door when we returned one afternoon! Black Mountain is a wonderful reprieve from hectic Asheville!

The Cottage is located in a very clean, quiet, & pretty community with shopping and places to dine at the entrance. You are about 3-5 minutes other grocery stores, Starbucks, & other fast food locations. 3 min from the interstate 40, 5 min from downtown Black Mtn. Approximately 15 min from the Biltmore Estate, & the Blueridge Parkway and many sites and attractions. I was pleasantly surprised & extremely pleased with the accomadatios & location.

Property was as described and very clean and well kept. Bedrooms were either up or down stairs. Which we knew going in. We just didn't realize how old we had gotten since we had pulled a lot of steps. However, by the end of the week, we were doing much better going up and down the stairs. This is a great house for young people. The drive way was not easy to navigate. We also knew this going in. Would come back to this neighborhood, but not this particular house, because of the above mentioned difficulties for us.

Sparrow Cottage was very clean, and layout was great for 2 couples. Lots of room. Kitchen well equipped and updated. Some very nice touches for guests. Beds were comfortable. Only drawback was that back in Sept. 2017, I was told that the A/C for upstairs would be corrected \"soon\". It wasn't when we arrived in May. Got a bit warm up there. Thank goodness it wasn't hot out or we would have been very unhappy. Parking was a bit awkward, but we managed. Neighborhood is very cute and very quiet at night. Drive was only about 15-20 minutes from Asheville. Black Mountain is nice, but shops all close early. Also, flooding issue hampered some activities. We would return to area and would stay at Sparrow Cottage again if A/C is corrected.

It was planned to be installed a bit earlier, but the area flooding that impacted all of Western North Carolina due to a coastal hurricane, caused a delay for the install. Excellent stay in this beautifully decorated cottage. Has every amenity you need. Best sleeping beds for a most relaxing stay. Wonderful restaurants in the village within walking distance. Great hiking/walking areas.

This is the second time my husband and I have rented a house from Greybeard in the same community in Black Mountain. This house was just as great as the first one. It's the perfect house for two couples since one bedroom is upstairs and one bedroom is down stairs. Plenty of privacy for each couple along with a terrific shared living and kitchen area. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful and quiet location. Plus, it's a short ride to downtown Asheville -- giving you the best of both worlds. This is a wonderful house in a wonderful location!

Location and management of the property was excellent. However, there are some structural concerns: (1) The upstairs bedroom is too hot for use in warm weather; only the downstairs bedroom was cool enough for sleeping during August; (2) The stairs are steep, the treads are narrow, and the finish is too slick for safety. (3) Parking is difficult. (4) the Living room TV controls are unnecessarily complicated. All else is wonderful.

Loved staying here with my husband for two weeks. Our two daughters visited on the weekend so it was great to have two king size beds and two full baths. The downstairs bedroom is HUGE and we probably should have nabbed that bedroom instead of the upstairs (which has a view and balcony). Kitchen had all we needed and the common area was fine for our (perfect for two). The location is GREAT and it was super easy to drive into Asheville for dinner...highway the entire way. Our only small complaint is we wish we had a covered porch. It would have been nice to have someone where to sit, read and relax on rainy days. Otherwise all was perfect!

Had a great stay at Sparrow Cottage. Only a few things I would change, mattress in the upstairs bedroom was too firm. Very uncomfortable. More towels, had 4 people staying, 2 were women and need extra towels for their hair. Paid good money for the rental only to have 1 towel per person.

Upstairs bedroom ventilation not good. Very warm compared to rest of house.

This is the first time we've heard mention of the upstairs the temperature not getting above 80 degrees during your stay dates and the A/C being fully functional, I'm confused about this detail. I understand that there were 10 towels stored at the home, so there should have been more than 1 towel per person available. Feel free to email additional details to if you'd like. This cottage is a little piece of heaven and we can't wait to return. It's cozy, clean and we loved the location. It's close to the I40, 15 minutes away from Asheville & Blue Ridge Parkway. BTW both televisions have been upgraded to newer models. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, and there are 3 restaurants that you can walk to, the views are amazing! Fully equipped kitchen. The only thing I'd suggest is bringing your own cooking Utensils, some of them are worn out. However, all of the dishes were clean and in good condition. My husband and I can't wait to return to this house.

Sparrow Cottage has everything you need to enjoy your visit. Very clean, nicely furnished and extremely cozy. Loved the sunrise/sunset views from balconies. Within walking distance of Village Center restaurants. Very much recommend this property. Excellent rental staff.

We recently rented the Sparrow Cottage for a five night stay. The cottage is immaculately maintained and offers everything you could need. Is is conveniently located close to major roads.only negative for us was the driveway access. It is somewhat steep and narrow and roadway to access is not pave. We would stay again but hope improvements are made to access.

Our stay in Sparrow Cottage was better than we could have imagined! I almost hate to write this review for fear of losing a best kept secret: Black Mountain and vacation rentals through Greybeard. The house and community are beautiful! The driveway takes a little practice but is much easier than others in the mountains. We will definitely return.

We had such a wonderful stay at Sparrow Cottage. We love Black Mountain and the house was very cozy and comfortable and in good condition. The only thing that needs updating is the televisions. We look forward to coming back in the future!

Sparrow Cottage is a very cute and cozy cottage. It's the perfect size for two people with all the amenities you could ask for. We didn't spend too much time in the cottage because there is so much to do and see in the area. We hiked our way up the Blue Ridge Parkway almost every day and then spent a day in downtown Asheville. This cottage is conveniently located to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The best part is being able to bring our fur kids with us. It's great to find places to vacation that are nice and pet friendly! That is not always an easy task. We would definitely stay again if we ever have plans to visit the area!

The cottage was amazing! We loved the location and the entire house. The only problems were the driveway is very hard to get a truck in and out especially with some of the gravel being washed away. The only other problem was the living room remote did not work but it could have just had dead batteries. Overall we loved the area and cottage and the whole experience.

Stayed at Sparrow Cottage in late June 2015. The accommodations were excellent for the two of us. Very clean and roomy for two. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is washer/dryer close to the bedroom, and the cottage is very close to a small community center and within 5 minute drive to downtown Black Mountain. Also only 15 min away from Asheville and all that that city has to offer. Going back again.

The only drawback to the property is the driveway as described by other tenants. My recommendation would be to completely pave the drive from the top of the driveway to the bottom of the drive. We have an all wheel drive vehicle yet at times it was a bit difficult to maneuver. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Sparrow Cottage is located in Black Mountain. This home is approximately a 5-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain and approximately a 20-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

This property offers a flexible cancellation policy that differs from the standard cancellation policy. The policy for this home is the moderate policy. The terms of the policy are as stated: Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund. Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Sparrow Cottage is not “pet friendly.” Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will receive check-in instructions prior to your arrival with driving directions and key access information. You do not need to stop by our office to pick up your keys. You will go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

IS THERE AN OUTDOOR FIRE PIT? 

This home does provide an outdoor fire pit. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs, or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Sparrow Cottage. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
