Upon entering this charming and well-appointed post & beam cabin, you'll be greeted with the fresh scent of wood and an open floor plan. Gather around the floor-to-ceiling gas stone fireplace after making dinner in the gourmet kitchen (complete with gas range stove, double sink, built-in grill/griddle, ample counter space, and 2 different coffee makers) and eating together at the dining table that boasts a front row view of the sunset. Throughout the home, you'll find large windows and skylights that offer plenty of natural light along with stunning views of the surrounding trees and mountain peaks.

On cool mornings and lazy afternoons when you'd rather enjoy the view outside, walk onto one of the two incredible decks. The newest deck triples the size of the original, and it provides the perfect place to take in the sounds and sights of the Lake Burnett Reservoir, while the second provides a shaded area to read your morning paper over coffee, get your morning workout in, or gather with friends and family at the end of the day to enjoy a glass of wine and share stories. This home is an ideal vacation spot for two families or several couples, as both children and adults will find entertaining things to do in this home. Downstairs, you'll find a bunk bed that is part of the den area. From there, you'll find an auxiliary/mud room in front of the laundry area where you can store your shoes, hats, and coats, or use it as a yoga room or overflow game room. In the garage, you'll find a game room with a ping pong table, ladder ball, and a second refrigerator to store your snacks and drinks for taking breaks in between games.

Premierly located within the private, gated community of Laurel Ridge, you're able to get away from it all while still being only 10 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Sky High at Laurel Ridge truly has everything you're looking for in a mountain retreat!

House layout:
Main floor: Living room with Smart TV for streaming and gas logs; half bath; kitchen with island and 3 stools; dining table seats 6-8; 2 decks off this floor; a bedroom with a king bed and TV for streaming and a full bathroom.
Upstairs: there are two bedrooms that each have a queen bed and a full bath in the hallway (PLEASE NOTE: the central air has no vents for these 2 upper rooms.)
Ground level: den with TV for streaming and a set of bunk beds; there is a full bath (shower only, no tub); game room with a ping pong table, ladder ball, and a 2nd refrigerator; laundry area and auxiliary/mud room in between the den and game room. Please note that while the garage is not available for parking, the driveway is easily accessible, and it provides space for up to 4 cars.

Please note that the owner has an exterior webcam which is mounted on the 2nd-floor balcony to monitor the weather.

Excellent Stay at Sky High

Sky High is a beautiful home with fabulous views. The house was very spacious and welcoming, and all rooms were exceptionally clean. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were well-equipped with all the necessities, which made for a very comfortable stay. There was plenty to do in the nearby town of Black Mountain, and Asheville was only a short drive away. A beautiful area to visit, and we would certainly consider returning in the future.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to prospective renters. Remarkable views and great space; felt larger than advertised. Convenient location to downtown Black Mountain. Well-stocked kitchen (cutlery, pots, pans, etc.).

The view was outstanding and the home was very well appointed. There was plenty of space and room to spread out. The kitchen was easy to cook in and we really enjoyed the Laurel Ridge community.

The home was beautiful and much nicer than the pictures do justice. It was really nice to have everything that we could imagine available for cooking. It would have been nice to have a little more seating space in the living area on the main floor, but other than that the cabin was perfect. Thank you for an incredible stay!

Our family had a wonderful stay at the home. The views are spectacular and we were lucky to see a bear enjoying berries in a berry patch one day. Our family enjoyed playing table tennis together and the boys loved the game machine. We also ventured out to High Falls and Jeter farms which were well worth the drive out. Also loved the prayer by the kids beds! Such a special place!

Wonderful property. Everything was great, and we had a truly memorable trip. The air conditioning did not really cool very much, but the evenings were cool enough for sleep to be possible with all the windows open. However, fly screens miss the top of the door by 1/2 inch, so insects can still get in. Only moths, but just thought to mention it. In conclusion, we were extremely happy all weekend - the kitchen was very well equipped, and the bed very comfy! Soooo peaceful and quiet :-)

This house was absolutely perfect. We have rented several great homes in Black Mountain/Asheville over the years but Sky High is our favorite. From the breathtaking views, amenities galore, comfortable beds and plenty of space, this property did not disappoint.

Sky High at Laurel Ridge is a home definitely worth staying in. The home itself is beautiful inside and out. The views from the kitchen and living room are gorgeous. The deck off the side of the home is worth sitting on all day and soaking up the mountains that surround you. The view of the reservoir only makes the scenery better. All of the bedrooms are simple, beautiful and comfortable offering amazing views. The kitchen is well stocked for preparing meals that you can cook, while again, taking in the breathtaking views. The bathrooms are spacious and well appointed. The entire house is up to date and very comfortable and relaxing. There are many games and books available for use and the tv's all have streaming services. The town of Black Mountain is just 10 minutes from the house and has so many shops and restaurants to offer. Asheville is a short drive to many other activities. We have been visiting this area for years and this is the best place with the most amazing views that we have ever stayed. We did not want to leave! We will most definitely be back to Sky High in the future. If I could, I would buy this house, it is that awesome!

Great house all around. Love the whitewash wood paneling inside that makes the house feel airy along with the openess of the timber frame. I hear it has good views ;) We were there in early February and out of 5 days I think we saw a glimpse of a view for about 15 minutes. VERY foggy and just a fair warning if you are arriving at night in the dark, rainy, a dense fog with about 50' of visibility, and you haven't been there befroe-- It is a bit ominous. But all well worth the challenge. Roads were all fine. The house has a great garage area for storage and the kids loved the games. I have rented a lot of homes and this by far is one of the best appointed (especially in the kitchen). Really open gathering area on main level. Was a perfect fit for our family for a winter getaway and a change of scenery during the pandemic. Highly recommend.

1. This was one of the rare instances where the property exceeded expectations based on the photos. Our family was truly "wowed" by the cabin.

2. The location is the perfect distance between "away from the crowds" and Asheville and Black Mountain. We were very happy with the location.

The peaceful beauty. Home was immaculate upon arrival. The home and kitchen are well supplied with all your needs (other than food). It was a most relaxing and enjoyable stay and the views are magnificent.

My family and I stayed for five nights and did not want to leave. The home has everything, beautiful design and great decor. The views are spectacular and we found simply sitting by the fire and looking out over the mountains was something we could do for hours. Communication was quick and the house has lots of nice touches for an extended family stay. Additionally, the town of Black Mountain is very charming and filled with interesting, friendly people. We hated to leave and would come back again without hesitation.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Sky High is located in Black Mountain within the private gated community of Laurel Ridge. Please note that this community restricts the use of ATVs and hiking on private property.

Sky High is approximately 10 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Sky High at Laurel Ridge is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Sky High at Laurel Ridge has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Sky High at Laurel Ridge. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
