For view chasers, this home is about an hour's drive from Linville Gorge Wilderness–aka the “Grand Canyon of the East” and the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, which offers even more views and hikes. 

After a fun-filled day of adventure, grab a craft beer at Fonta Flora's open-air brewery at Whippoorwill Farm before heading to J. Hartman's for fresh seafood and a cocktail or McDowell Local for a delicious burger paired with NC staple, Cheerwine. Before saying goodbye to the mountains of Western North Carolina, take an hour's drive to explore the hip River Arts District and iconic Biltmore Estate in Asheville. The “Land of Sky” is home to an impressive number of award-winning restaurants and breweries along with local shops filled with special keepsakes to remind you of your time in the enchanting Blue Ridge Mountains!

It was beautiful! The house is lovely but could use more seating in the LR area and more towel racks in all of the bathrooms. I dont know if this is possible but a water softener would be a plus as well. The mountain view and lot were excellent!

Very nice and we enjoyed our stay. You may want to check the straps for the hot tub cover because the wind blew the cover off last night. Some of the latch mechanisms appear to be broken.

Beautiful home enjoyed by our family of four and dog! My kids loved the game room and we really enjoyed having easy access to our boat at the community dock. Looking forward to our next stay!

Our family of 6 had a wonderful week-long stay over New Year's. The home was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Everyone had plenty of room to relax and slept well on the comfortable beds. The game room was enjoyed by all! We enjoyed exploring the downtowns of nearby Marion and Morganton. Although the drive was longer, we also ventured to Boone for snow and skiing! We would highly recommend this home for a quiet, peaceful vacation!

Super rental at Higher Ground. What a wonderful new home! It was out of the way from the hustle and bustle and very quiet. We enjoyed the open concept home with our family. Mornings on the screened in porch with coffee and the fireplace were our favorite. There is a view of the mountain from the back screened in porch. The fire pit in the backyard was nice for s’mores and enjoying the beautiful star lit sky. The hot tub is top notch and room for plenty. Inside the home the kitchen was well stocked and we cooked and grilled together each night. The finishes in the home were so very nice. Beautifully done and beds and seating was comfy. Probably one of our most favorite rentals yet! We are already looking forward to coming again! Thank you for sharing your home with us! : )

We had an incredible stay at Higher Ground at Lake James. Quiet, private, and a beautiful view. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we could need. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the home was spotlessly clean. We loved the fire pit and everything was very friendly for our dog. We enjoyed it so much that we spent more time relaxing at the cabin than we did exploring the area. It gave us all the rest and relaxation we hoped for, while offering all the modern conveniences we rely on.
