Festivals

The annual Mountain Sports Festival is a free, non-profit festival that draws over 8,000 attendees to Asheville's very popular Carrier Park. As the name suggests, it is a weekend that is full of sporting events in addition to live music, local food, and beer. The three-day festival is conveniently located to the French Broad River and the Mellowdrome, the 498m asphalt oval that was formerly known as the Asheville Motor Speedway.

Music lineups for genres of Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Rock and Funk take place throughout the weekend and food, beverage and outdoor gear vendors are on site.

The majority of the events take place at or near Carrier Park, but some our off site. Many additional activities are available for kids. Events and activities include:

  • Cyclocross (cross-country racing on bikes)
  • Rock2Rock 10K
  • Ultimate Frisbee competitions
  • Disc golf competitions
  • Kids Inflatables
  • Bike races
  • Kayaking demos
  • SUP (Stand-up paddle board) racing
  • Stand-up paddle boarding yoga
  • Sand volleyball

Parking is limited at Carrier Park. Carpooling is encouraged, and locals that live close to the event are encouraged to bike or walk to the event to conserve space.
