2nd Annual Lake Lure Dance Festival

The Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge is taking things up a notch for 2023 by including the great dance music of past festivals and adding a little salsa flavor to spice things up! The inaugural Lake Lure Dance Festival: Cool Dips & Hot Salsa, will take place on September 16, 2023 at Morse Park (gates open at 10 AM). 

Historically, this festival celebrated the iconic film, Dirty Dancing, since Lake Lure is one of the primary locations where the 1987 blockbuster movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey was filmed (joining the ranks of the many other times the mountains of Western North Carolina made their appearance in the movies). 

This year, the festival has expanded into a broader celebration of dance and will include: 

•  3 Live Bands AND a guest appearance by Franke Previte and Lisa Sherman!
• Asheville Ballet will be teaching all your favorite dance moves & they'll be performing on stage
• Food trucks and an amazing selection of local beer, wine, cider, and mead
• Artisan Village offering handcrafted items and festival souvenirs
