Black Mountain Sourwood Festival

The annual Sourwood Festival takes place every August in Black Mountain. This kid-friendly, sourwood honey-inspired festival is one of Black Mountain's yearly highlights that boasts around 100 vendors who sell arts and crafts, local food including BBQ, vegetarian fare, custom ice-cream options, funnel cakes, corn on the cob, and more. 

Admission to this street festival is free, and the day prior to the festival is the Sourwood Idol Contest which is an amateur singing competition that takes place from 7-10 p.m. Contest winners can win $200 for first place, $100 for second place, $50 for third place.
