06/27/2021 - 2:30pm to 09/26/2021 - 2:30pm
The 2021 Chow Chow gastro extravaganza, sponsored by many local businesses including our very own Greybeard Rentals and Realty, will take place over 3 months and feature over 30 immersive events (in-person and virtual).
The change to the normal schedule was made in an effort to prioritize COVID 19 safety concerns, and it's a direct result of community feedback to bring more accessibility to this beloved event. You can expect pricing tiers ranging from $15 to $200 and a mix of in-person and remote events, workshops, and demos so tourists and locals of all means can enjoy the festivities!
Chow Chow (named after a pickled relish that is popular in southern Appalachia) is a new food festival in Asheville that celebrates chefs and the local food scene through a grand tasting event, chef demos and much more. The Travel Channel recently named Asheville "New Top City for Wine in the United States" and Southern Living called Asheville one of the "Tastiest Towns in the South." This event has been brought to Asheville by the minds of Chef Katie Button of Curate, Chai Pani owner Meherwan Irani, French Broad Chocolate Lounge's Jael Rattigan. Angel Postel, founder of Charleston's Wine & Food Festival will be the event director.
Details are still coming together for this special event, but here is the scoop of what we've heard the event may include so far:
- A grand tasting tent makers market
- Chef demo stage
- Educational experiences such as demos of clay cups to use for cocktails
- Chocolate flight night with French Broad Chocolates
- Farmer's feast
- History of Native American influence on food products
