Skytop Chalet sits on 7 acres and is located in the beautiful gated community of Catawba Falls Preserve. Wildlife is abundant, and sightings can be frequent and very exciting. This home offers 360-degree views in all seasons. Skytop is a 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath, custom-built Deltec Round home, which includes 3 spacious levels, a game room with a wet bar, an 8-person hot tub, a fire table, and so much more.

Skytop Chalet is perfect for multi-generational family gatherings, as there are spacious common areas on all three floors, along with decks on all three floors to take in the stunning views! The community roads are paved and easily navigated, and you are only 15-20 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and about 35 minutes from downtown Asheville!

House Layout:
Main Level- Open great room with a wood burning fireplace; dining area with a 10 ft dining table that seats 10; a chef's kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, standard, and Keurig coffee makers, and a kitchen island with seating for 6; living area with TV (streaming only); master bedroom with a king bed and full bath with soaking tub and walk-in shower; half bath; laundry room with washer and dryer.

Upper Level- Den with TV, library/reading area, and game table; two bedrooms with a set of bunk beds with a trundle underneath and a Jack and Jill bathroom (shower/tub combo) between the bedrooms; bedroom with a queen bed and en suite bathroom (shower/tub combo).

Lower Level- Den with a shuffleboard table, a pool table that converts into ping pong, a TV, and a queen sleeper sofa; kitchenette with a wet bar, wine cooler, microwave, and second refrigerator; bedroom with a king bed and a full bathroom (shower/tub combo).

Outdoors- three exterior decks- one on each level; gas grill on the main level deck; hot tub and fire table on the lower level deck.

Please note: Skytop Chalet is pet-friendly with an additional $100 pet fee. Two-week-long reservations require a mid-stay cleaning service, while month-long reservations require a weekly cleaning service. Additional fees apply for both instances.

No parking is allowed on roadways, at gate entrances, or in non-paved areas in the Catawba Falls Community. Please keep your vehicle(s) on the driveway only. There is ample parking beside the home or in the carport with a ramp leading into the main level of the home for guests who need easy accessibility.

Greybeard homes are located near Pisgah National Forest. Ladybugs and Kudzu Beetles are prevalent in our area in the fall and winter months, and they will find their way into homes to escape the cooler weather. They are not poisonous and cannot be exterminated.

This is a beautifully built and well constructed house with incredible views all the way around it! Lots of windows, lots of light, beautiful sunsets and Star filled nights. There was plenty of space for our 3 families to be together and separate when needed. The house was clean well appointed with a big dinning table and 2 refrigerators for all the food we needed for a week’s stay. It is also privately located with plenty of parking. I would highly recommend this house! We had wonderful Thanksgiving there!

The house is amazing with the best view of the mountains. There is plenty of space across the three floors of this house for a large family to spread out, and relax. The kitchen is huge with a kitchen island to seat 5 or 6 adults. Multiple decks to take in that morning coffee, and enjoy the mountain views. The only drawback is the house is about 15 to 20 minutes from the closest restaurants. We would recommend this house for that large family looking to relax and re-charge.

We took 7 adults and a dog to stay at Skytop Chalet. The location is fabulous and house is amazing. We felt like we were at the top of the world because we were so high up on the mountains. The amenities at the house were perfect. We loved the hot tub and fire table. Everything was clean and well stocked. We will be back!

Skytop Chalet is beautiful, the cabin itself and the property. Amazing views from the balconies. We saw a baby bear climbing a tree on the property. Were blessed with several beautiful sunsets. The house was perfect for our large group, plenty of clean and comfy bedrooms. Loved our time here!!

If you're thinking about this property - book it! Beautiful views, clean, modern house. Stocked with with toys and games for our multi-generation stay. Appreciated the multiple floors with separate gathering areas for everyone to break off, as well as the giant kitchen/dining area. This is a pet friendly home but the standard of cleanliness is excellent. Cons - maybe the sofas and TVs could use an upgrade. Probably not the most infant/young toddler friendly if you have a mobile little one. however we would definitely stay again and the family loved it.

We had family from 4 states meet for a week at the Skytop. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect vacation. We did see the bear, took a great train tour from Bryson City, and relaxed in the mountains. Chalet met all expectations!

This is by far one of the nicest rental homes I've ever stayed in. Fully stocked kitchen, beautiful furniture, comfy beds, new washer and dryer, HUGE hot tub, gorgeous deck and outdoor furniture, and stunning landscaping around the house. We were very impressed and would highly recommend. I hope to be back in the future! Thank you for a fantastic stay.

We enjoyed everything about out stay in the mountains. The Skytop Chalet was a beautiful home, nestled in the mountains with a stunning view. We sat on the deck to enjoy the sunrise and our morning coffee. The house had everything we needed to cook for the 10 of us. It was comfortable and gave everyone their privacy. It was clean and well taken care of.

The home was perfect, the location ideal. Communication was above and beyond for the snow storm while there. Could not have asked for a better place to watch the snow come in and be stuck for a couple of days! The views were spectacular and the house has so many amenities, we were thrilled to have found it.

Beautiful home, beautiful location. Appreciated all the amenities, games, puzzles, hot tub. Liked that I was given a list of what would be provided prior to arrival (amount of dish soap, garbage bags, laundry detergent, etc) so I could supplement as needed in advance. Also appreciated that the house was decorated for the season.

Sky top Chalet provided space for the 3 generations and 4 branches of our family to celebrate together yet not on top of each other. From the beautifully appointed rooms to the well-stocked kitchen to the decorated tree, every detail was accounted for. The Greybeard team was responsive and communication with them made this a seamless excursion. Black Mountain is a great nearby town with a supermarket that has everything you might need as well as unique shops, restaurants and brewery. Asheville is a short drive and the return to the open spaces of the mountain were appreciated. We hiked the upper Catawba Falls and even saw a black bear in our backyard!

The views from the balcony were breathtaking, the fire pit and hot tub on the deck were so nice to relax in the morning or evenings. It was nice to have private space for all of us with the bedrooms on all three floors. We enjoyed the huge kitchen and island, and the house was well stocked.

The Chalet was perfect for a large group. It provided an ability for congregating and/or to not feel like we were on top of each other.

Amenities, cleanliness, layout, and location were stellar.

The house we rented with Graybeard could not have been more perfect for our family gathering! The Skytop Chalet was just as advertised, and very well stocked with everything we needed. The house is wonderful and Catawba Falls Preserve is a beautiful community. Of course, there's lots to do in the Black Mountain/Asheville area.

We had the worst weather possible during our stay (cold, rainy, foggy - we never even got to see the view!), so this review will naturally focus on the home itself, which was WONDERFUL! Skytop truly has it all - enough space to spread out in, thoughtful distribution of games, puzzles, books throughout the home, well equipped kitchen, a cozy yet spacious feel.

What I enjoyed the most about my stay at Skytop Chalet was the beautiful sunrise and unbelievable sunsets! The outdoor view around the house is breathtaking! This is a lovely home, so spacious, nicely decorated and distributed. It's a fun place for all ages. The house is spotless!! The jacuzzi was one of my favorites! I spent a fabulous 50th birthday weekend with my wonderful husband and children. So far it has been the best most spectacular birthday getaways I've ever experienced!! I loved it!!!

The house was fully stocked with items necessary to cook at home. We were a group of two families, 5 kids (including one teenager) and 4 adults. The two master suites were just right for our group. The kids loved that they were given the entire upstairs as their domain. The house was well set up with multiple living areas where people could separate. We loved having the fire table and hot tub.

We were so happy to be with family and friends after months of lockdown and we celebrated that not one single maintenance issues or amjoying rental house issue marred our time together.

Excellent home with plenty of space; beautiful views, and excellent condition. The Greybeard staff was wonderful in helping arrange excursions, answering questions and timely response. Black Mountain is a good central location to explore the greater Asheville area, although the town was less than expected. Prepare to drive 15-20 minutes to get down the mountain from Skytop Chalet.

This was a great house for our three families to get together. Everyone had their own bed, and bathrooms, lots of towels, and dishes. The pots and pans, knives, bowls, appliances, etc, were the best that we have had at a rental. It made cooking a joy. The views were fantastic and we enjoyed the sunset from the hot tub almost every night. The only downsides were how far away we were from everything (30 minute drive minimum to anywhere) and no outside space (yard) other than the decks. But I guess that is the trade off for the amazing views. The extra refrigerator downstairs was so helpful although we wished it had a freezer, too. And lastly, we loved the crank windows. It was so easy to go around and open them all up to bring in the mountain breezes.

The house was perfect for a family vacation with a big kitchen for easy cooking (this was important because with Covid we were not going out to eat). Beautiful views and the location was great for hiking. We especially enjoyed Catawba falls that can be reached from the development.

The home and setting are extraordinary. The views are amazing, and the house is well stocked and set up perfectly for an amazing vacation.

The views were wonderful & so peaceful! The property was very clean & fully stocked with everything we needed. The layout of the house was great for our family - we could enjoy time together comfortably, as well as have plenty of space to have quiet time. The decor was lovely, & we enjoyed every minute of our vacation! Customer service was also friendly & professional!

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Skytop Chalet is located in Black Mountain in a private gated community named Creston. We highly recommend planning your arrival during daylight hours, as this community may be difficult to navigate in the dark. This home is approximately 25 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and 45 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Skytop Chalet is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Skytop Chalet has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm. 

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Skytop Chalet. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
