Amazing 2 bedroom, 2 bath home perched near the top of a beautiful mountain on 4 stunning acres of Appalachian beauty. This remote destination provides an abundance of privacy and is perfect for a romantic getaway or a last-minute break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A wrap-around deck with an ideal covered gazebo is where you'll want to lounge the days away enjoying the mountain views and fire-pit, as well as an outdoor hot tub in the yard below. A newly built home (2008) - it has all stainless steel modern appliances, a 2-person jacuzzi bathtub, bathrooms with wine-bottle cork flooring, and a gorgeous primary bedroom suite with a queen bed.

This high-altitude home is just minutes from Asheville and Black Mountain with its charming galleries, shops, and restaurants. 4-WHEEL DRIVE or AWD with higher clearance is REQUIRED year-round to get to this beauty. Pets are welcome with an additional pet fee! The home even includes a fenced and gated pet run area off the back deck to keep your pets from wandering into the black bear country if you choose.

Main Level (upstairs): Kitchen, living room with a 65-inch Smart TV with streaming (Firestick/Youtube TV), dining area, master bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bath. Downstairs: Living area with Smart TV streaming (Firestick/Youtube TV), a queen bed and a futon, a full bath, and a 1-car garage. Please note that the lower level is accessed via a spiral staircase and is open/does not have a door that closes it off to the upper level. WE RECOMMEND FIRST ARRIVAL DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. The road up to the house includes steep gravel for the last .06 miles. Ridgetop is 8 miles to Blue Ridge Parkway and 10 miles to pickleball courts in Black Mountain.

Please Note: Greybeard homes are located close to Pisgah National Forest. Ladybugs and Kudzu Beetles may be seen in our area in the fall and winter months, and it is not uncommon for them to find their way into homes to escape the cooler weather from time to time. They are not poisonous and cannot be exterminated.

An entirely accurate name, it is on the ridgetop. And with that, excellent views! With stunning sunset skies. Home has everything you need. The only reason I decided on 4 vs 5 stars is the beds. They are incredibly uncomfortable. The mattresses with help from old metal style bedframes transfer every movement of your partner. Not to mention the sunk in areas from use. It was bad enough we slept separately the last night, which ultimately didn't help much.

Spectacular View and Privacy

We loved every minute of our stay at Ridgetop Hideaway! The view and privacy made it perfect for a quiet getaway. Surrounded by woods and not a neighbor in sight. The hot tub and a fire was great after a day of hiking in either Pisgah NF or Smoky Mountain NP. (50 min drive to Pisgah and about an hour and a half to the SM NP). Very Close to Asheville as well. The house was well stocked with everything you would need, cookware, towels, bedding etc. Just bring your own food and toiletries. Any confident driver in a vehicle with 4x4 or AWD shouldn't have any problems making it up the mountain in good weather. Just take it slow. Good ground clearance is also a must. We had no trouble in a CRV with AWD. The staff at Greybeard even promptly responded late one evening after the power went out. (No fault with the property, someone had hit a pole in town and the utility Co had it fixed in a few hours). I was not expecting such a fast response after business hours, but they were on top of it! All in all a fantastic time and worth every penny. And don't think they're kidding about bear safety. We had one standing in the driveway Tuesday morning!

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful time at Ridgetop Hideaway. It was a great location to see many sights. We went to Asheville, chimney Rock, Dupont State Recreational Forest mount mitchell, blue ridge parkway and many other places. The house is great, clean and spectacular view. We wanted to stay longer! Be sure to have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Gps will get you almost there, use the written directions from Greybeard for the last leg. The road to the house is not traveled much so it can look as if you are lost, keep going! We saw bears! They came down the hill beside the house and ate bugs and knocked over the fire ring. Lock your car and dont leave food out. It all was the best experience and a magnificent vacation! Thank you

The home was very comfortable and clean. Open concept allows everyone to be together. All the cookware, coffee pot, and hot water pot we needed in the kitchen. The deck view is incredible and fenced in deck to dog run worked out great for our two pups. Total privacy at the home as well. Enjoyed Black Moutain and Asheville as well as several days hiking. We were able to relax in the hot tub a few times. The ride up is quite the adventure but worth it. Our only challege was the spiral staircase connecting to the bottom level and the 2nd queen bed was difficult for arthritric knees and our dogs would not do them, had to walk them around. Nevertheless, we had a great stay.

View was incredible. Hot tub, balcony, board games. Close to hiking trails and downtown Asheville/breweries.

The privacy is worth the crazy drive up the mountain! Even saw a bear on the way out. We didn't bother him, he didn't bother us!

Beautiful cabin - very clean and comfortable. Great views of the Swannanoa Mountains and not far from both Asheville and Black Mountain.

Shucks, where can I start? The views are great! You have such a short drive to Ingles for food and then the shops at Black Mountain are a super quick drive within 20 minutes. The amazing husband/wife cleaners for this property are amazing and everything was cleaned and in their correct spots. The hot tub was really great especially for the nights it got a little chilly. After the first trek up the gravel road with front wheel drive and having to back up and give the climb a try again, it became fun driving up and down to the hone. Finally the people at Greybeard were super caring and it is the only company we will consider!!!

We loved to seclusion and privacy of the Ridgetop rental. Taking day trips to town or just sitting and relaxing by the outdoor fire pit, it was a fantastic place to relax and refresh.

The house was lovely and the location was fabulous. The information about the property and it's \"challenging\" location we're adequately described on the website. After the 1st time up there it really wasn't a big deal, but the 1st trip up there was a bit intimidating =)

Our stay at the Ridgetop Hideaway was glorious: beautiful views and beautiful amenities. DEFINITELY need 4-Wheel drive to get up the mountain to the cabin. It is definitely hard to find in the dark. Surrounded by nature including a black bear we saw walk through during our stay. We enjoyed the selection of travel brochures provided in the living room. Just one of many thoughts details that made this location part of a great weekend getaway.

The initial trek to the house was a bit daunting as we arrived at dusk. 4WD/AWD is absolutely necessary; if snow was on the ground then it wouldn’t be accessible. After a few trips up/down it became less challenging. The view is incredible and worth the drive up the mountain!

Water pressure and water heat was questionable. We were unable to take showers/brush teeth upon check out due to water pressure issues. Understandable with the nature of a well system, but good to know prior to booking.

Graybeard personnel was incredibly professional. We will be return customers!

My husband and I enjoyed Ridgetop Hideaway for our honeymoon! The drive up the mountain was absolutely worth it, the privacy and the view were amazing! We had breakfast on the balcony every morning, and spent our days either in Asheville or outdoors. This spot was the perfect location, close enough that we could easily get to stuff to do but far enough we escaped city life. I do recommend some extra cookware, there is not much to make dinner with if you're inclined. I will also say the Hospitality app was helpful, it had easy access to the info we needed as well as activity recommendations for the area. We'll be back!

The house was very clean which is always a concern of mine, especially in a pet friendly unit. If you are looking for seclusion, this place is for you. The road up to the house is steep with several switchbacks and not very wide to allow for an oncoming car to pass. Reading other reviews, I knew that 4 wheel drive was recommended but the road was more of a challenge than I expected. We had several rainy days that made me more nervous about navigating the road. Due to this we chose to see the area during day, making sure we made it back at the house before dark every night. Also, we were not able to get either of the two DVD players to work.

My new husband and I stayed at Ridgetop Hideaway for 5 days while we were in NC for our elopement/honeymoon. The house was perfect; clean, secluded and peaceful. The jetted tub and fire pit outside were our favorite. My only caution for anyone wanting to stay here is you definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The drive is long and steep/narrow for part of the way. There are also no lights at night so coming home after dark can be precarious. But after driving up and down we got fairly comfortable. We would for sure stay here again!

Overall really happy with the house. When we arrived there was a Lady Bug infestation (which I am told is normal for this time of year on the mountain) but one call to the management and it was taken care of. All staff I dealt with were more than friendly and helpful. Would totally recommend this house. The view really is spectacular.

Amazing House

What a relaxing place. Morning, afternoon, or evening, rocking chairs on the porch will make you stop thinking about everything and anything stressful. The porch and dog run are perfect for giving a pup some freedom to run around and enjoy some space. The house is clean and secluded. Definitely advocate 4wd, as it was raining when we arrived and the road up to the house can be slick. The internet and TV can be a little spotty, but we didn't go on vacation to be connected. Great hiking located within a short drive in multiple directions. Quick trip to downtown Asheville(definitely check out Rhubarb and Buxton Hall for food). Highly recommended!
P.S. AWESOME place! We will definitely be back some day!

The place was exactly what we needed! An awesome mountain top view from the wraparound porch nestled back in trees. Lots of songbirds. My Sheltie appreciated the fenced-in doggie area. The house was clean, neat, with comfortable furnishings. I especially enjoyed the Jacuzzi bath tub.

We loved the place at Ridgetop! The place was spotless and well equipped. The fenced in area and porch were great for our dog. We had no trouble getting to the location without 4x4, but if there was rain/snow- you would certainly need it.

We had a great time, and the house was perfect for our getaway... our dogs came along and they felt right at home too... loved the fenced area so we didnt have to leash them ever time they needed to go out and the deck was awesome. We always rent from Greybeard and will continue!

This was an amazing weekend getaway. The location was perfect, with both Asheville and Black Mountain only 20 minutes away. The home was beautiful and had a lovely, homey feel. The view from the deck was the main attraction. As the name suggests, the home is really on the top of the ridge and the deck overlooks the valley below and mountains in the distance. Every morning you could look out and see the clouds hanging low in the valley, and it was just a spectacular sight.

The house is lovely, the directions to it are clear, and FWD is indeed strongly recommended. The only two issues to resolve are 1) the very uneven water-pressure (at times a mere trickle) and, 2) the two beds downstairs, which are somewhat uncomfortable. Otherwise, the house is in fine condition and beautifully situated.

The property was just like the description and well-maintained. I would recommend to this property to a friend or relative. Also, I like the fact that the home was secluded, but 5 to 10 minutes away from downtown Asheville. Perfect place to getaway from the city life :-)

The property had an excellent view, was secluded and comfortable. Great to wake up and sit on the deck and enjoy the view. The drive to the house was a good one. No problem with an suv. Loved the stay for a week.

Amazing Romantic Getaway

Attention to detail is evident at Ridgetop Hideaway. We enjoyed 3 nights on the mountaintop taking in the sunrise with coffee on the spacious covered porch, watching opossums, chipmunks, rabbits and birds. The view is amazing as the clouds put on a display in the sky as they blanket the mountaintop as if we were in a plane and create a masterpiece of art with colors of pink, purple, blue, and red during the sunsets. We relaxed in the rockers on the porch and enjoyed a soothing soak in the jetted rub after long hikes to see the DuPont Forest waterfalls and Looking Glass Rock. The spacious cabin is well appointed with plush towels and comfortable furniture and is decorated to reflect the artistic feel of Asheville. I have stayed at many cabins in the area and owned one for several years, and would highly recommend this cabin for a romantic getaway or a family of four. The downstairs provides a separate space for kids or teens and adds to the spaciousness and privacy of the cabin. The drive up the mountain is worth it for the complete privacy and view and is to be expected if you want a view like this. 4WD or AWD is a must especially if it rains. Just take it slow and once you get back each evening, stay put and enjoy the tranquility, relax in the shower which is big enough for two, take in the amazing sunset on the porch, and watch the stars and moon in your own private mountain getaway. Civilization is only 12 or so minutes away including Ingles, Starbucks, and other retail as well as I-40, I-240 and Tunnel Rd into downtown. The Blue Rideg parkway is easily accessible and hiking is within 30-60 min in the area. Check out for the best hikes, waterfall, tubing, white water rafting, local events and more. We enjoyed Tupelo Honey and the amazing Chorizo in downtown Asheville and cooked dinner at the cabin. We highly recommend staying at Ridgetop Hideaway!

Such a great house. We actually extended our stay just because we liked the house so much. Great view of the mountains and great proximity to Asheville and Blue Ridge Parkway. The drive up the mountain to the house isn't that bad, just long. We were fine getting up and down in our car.

We had a wonderful time. We loved the accommodations. We loved that it was pet friendly with an outside area for our dog Jake. He loved it too. The road to ridgetop is narrow and steep but it was no problem with our 4 wheel drive. Our niece met us and drove her car that wasnt a 4 wheel and did not have a problem with the road. The home has a beautiful deck with a wonderful view. Its peaceful and very quiet. Perfect to come back too after a long day of sightseeing. We would definitely rent ridgetop again. Greybeard Rentals did an excellent job handling our reservation and all the follow up details. This is the 2nd time we went thru Greybeard Rentals and it was an easy and pleasant process.

We have come to this rental for a couple years now. Greybeard reality always makes sure we have all the information needed to access the cabin. This year we had a few small cleanliness complaints. The comforter in the main room was covered with animal hair and there is only one set of sheets for the two downstairs futons. Also, there were no instructions for running the tv so we could not figure out how to watch dvds. These are small complaints.
The view is beautiful and the overall cleanliness and comfort of the property has made us rent it again and again. Also, we can bring our dog which is a must for our rentals. thanks for another great stay and we wil return next year!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Ridgetop Hideaway is located in Swannanoa. This home is approximately 20 minutes to Black Mountain and Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Ridgetop Hideaway is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Ridgetop Hideaway has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Ridgetop Hideaway. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
