In the morning, settle in the Adirondacks on the upper deck to watch the vivid sunrise while you sip your coffee and listen to the songs of native birds. On rainy days, listen for the tranquil rushing of nearby mountain streams, and on those occasional windy days, listen for the wind whistling through the rhododendrons.

After coffee, wander along the property's walking trails that wind around the house and up the mountain before returning to enjoy breakfast at the kitchen bar. Thoughtfully supplied, take advantage of the waffle maker & Vitamix in the sleek gourmet kitchen to make a stack of waffles and a batch of fresh fruit smoothies for you & your group. Retro Metro Deck House is located just 20 min. from the quaint towns of Lake Lure & Chimney Rock & 15 min. from Asheville in the quiet community of Fairview dotted with picturesque farmland open to the public. Hickory Nut Gap Farm is best known for its meat supply to the finest farm-to-table restaurants in the AVL area & as a stop along the WNC Cheese Trail, but there are also seasonal events and festivals to enjoy. Another destination along the trail is Looking Glass Creamery. Stop by to sample their homemade cheese & Carmoolita caramel paired with a glass of wine. For more farm fun, visit the sustainable Flying Cloud Farm, where you can treat yourself to a vibrant U-pick bouquet of native flowers & a bushel of fresh berries.

Once you've had your fill of country living, travel into the city to enjoy the shopping, attractions, and art scene that characterize the mountains of WNC. For area hiking, check out Bearwallow Mountain trail, an easy 1-mile hike that reaches a grassy meadow at its summit and features a nearly 360 view, including Mt. Mitchell and Mt. Pisgah. You'll love strolling through the wildflowers & picnicking alongside the grazing cattle that call this mountaintop home. After your hike, reward yourself with a cold beer from Whistlehop Brewing Co. which includes a family & pet-friendly playground with several activities (such as mini golf) to enjoy. After that, head over to Turgua Brewing, situated beside Cane Creek, to listen to live music and sip on their craft ciders, meads, or ales.

Note: This home IS pet friendly with an additional fee. There is an exterior camera facing the driveway. While not required, 4WD/AWD is encouraged from December to March when icy and/or snowy road conditions are possible. A 6-person hot tub was added in 2021. This home offers a whole home generator that is also connected to the hot tub, so your vacation won't be interrupted in the unlikely event of a power outage.

We loved our stay at the Retro Metro Deck House! Every little detail was very well thought out and we lacked for nothing. The views were amazing and the space was perfect for couples traveling together. The only thing I would complain about the use of a flat sheet instead of fitted sheets for the beds. The flat sheet just wouldn’t hold in place which made the bed somewhat uncomfortable. On a final note, the directions from Waze take people to the wrong house and the gravel road and drive was a surprise.

Amazing Stay in Fairview

Our stay at Retro Metro was amazing. The house was beautiful, clean and very spacious. It was secluded on the top of the mountain with beautiful views of the surrounding forest. The drive to downtown Asheville was around 20 min. However, it was easy to stay local with the amazing places to eat, including Hickory Nut Gap Farm down the road and the Local Joint around 10 minutes away. We will absolutely be booking with Greybeard Rentals our next time in Asheville as the Company provided incredible service the entire stay.

Great house with tons of windows for natural light and beautiful surroundings. My friends and I enjoyed our stay; the kitchen has a large island which was great for prepping food and talking and the hot tub which is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees was great for relaxing at the end of the day.

The house is super clean, beautifullt decorated and views are amazing! There is plenty of room inside with beautiful furnishings and a great updated kitchen. Big bedrooms, comfortable beds, and lots of areas to hang in! There are so many areas with views and trails. We didn’t use the hot tub but really thought we would. Quick drives to Asheville! Driveway was a bit tough with leaves covering the gravel. An SUV helped!

We thoroughly enjoyed this home during our 3 night stay. Stunning views from the main level and the huge deck. Loved the fire table, hot tub and fireplace. Outstanding kitchen and comfortable beds. Surface space in bathrooms was a bit lacking and 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are small but nice. We would (and may) rent this house again. Highly recommend.

We felt pampered in this beautiful home with its wonderful, thoughtful design. Because of the bright well stocked kitchen, cozy fire pit and hot tub, and expansive views, every gathering space was special. I especially loved the long handcrafted dining table where we could eat and talk and play games. We enjoyed our walks and seeing deer on the trails by the house. We are thankful for all the big and little things that Retro Metro offered, and for bringing us so close to nature and each other.

The time we were able to spend time with our extended family and the excursion to the Biltmore House and surrounding area. Also, the time spent driving the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Retro Metro deck house is appointed perfectly with a mountain view outside and great vibes inside! It had everything needed for a great stay and the multiple living spaces and separated bedrooms made it easy to have two families and dogs in the house. Everything was clean and the welcome basket with popcorn and amenity packs made us feel very happy to be there! The fire table, grill and deck furniture allowed us to enjoy the deck as much as we enjoyed the inside.

We absolutely fell in love with the Metro Retro Deck House! The split level floor plan was perfect for our family of five, including three kids aged six and under. The deck area was wonderful for sitting out in the morning and night. And my husband and I loved relaxing in the hot tub after the kids were in bed. Beautifully decorated house, extremely comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, and centrally located to Asheville made this the perfect vacation home.

Walking into this beautiful and beautifully maintained house was like receiving big hug. It alone would have been worth writing home about. Tucked in the middle of a lush mountainside forest, surrounded by well-tended ornamental flowers and plantings, with a spectacular view of distant mountains made it all the more wonderful. Comfortable with all the amenities.

It was the most organized rental I've ever been to. So clean and well appointed. Very comfortable beds, a variety of pillow styles to chose from. Kitchen had everything we needed. It was beautiful, views were amazing, the one question I had while there was answered very quickly. Location was a quick drive to town, blue ridge parkway and chimney rock. Hope to stay there again one day!

We stayed in the house in mid-February 2022, with two adults, four kids, and a dog. The house is fantastic -- very comfortable, extraordinarily well organized and maintained, and equipped with virtually everything you might need during the stay. Highly recommended.

The view is stunning. There are so many amenities that just make everything super comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable. There's literally nothing that could have been added to this to make it a better stay. Near of grocerys store and the Hickory nut gap farm (fresh grassfed meat). Highly recommend for a romantic getaway weekend

When a rental property is perfect, it is difficult to to enlarge on perfection. Metro Home was clean and convenient. Except for more lighting during dark, rainy days indoors, there is nothing I could add to make our stay better.
