Surrounded by nature, Panther Cat Perch serves as your headquarters as you explore area hiking, fishing, swimming, rock climbing, antique shopping, or simply grabbing a camera for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Panther Cat Perch is an authentic mountain cabin located at the Eastern Continental Divide at 3,000 ft. elevation—just 10 minutes from Black Mountain and 25 minutes from all that Asheville has to offer.

This true mountain cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Bed sizes are King and Queen. Enjoy the big game or your favorite movies with the 40-inch TV and Blu-ray player, basic WiFi provided. Take in the mountain scenery from the deck. Panther Cat Perch is the perfect getaway for adventure and rest.

Please Note: This home is NOT pet-friendly. It's best to arrive during daylight hours for the first time. Vehicles with higher clearance are recommended due to gravel roads. Solar power and an EV charging station were added in September 2023.

Wife and I enjoyed our stay at Panther Cat Perch. Great central location to many hiking opportunities and waterfalls in the area. Several good restaurants in Black Mountain. The kitchen was well appointed and updated. The rest of the living and sleeping areas were clean and well maintained. It even came with a part-time dog that showed up to see how things were going and hung out on the porch to keep you company. Jay Lexington, SC.

Very Clean and comfortable. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed. We used the telescope as well to look closer at the moon. We chose this home primarily because of the EV charger, which is a level 2 charger at 11KW and worked out so great for us. But loved the location and the home. The directions provided to get to the home from NC 9 Highway were very helpful. The neighbor's friendly dog provided added entertainment.

Upon arrival Sunday refrigerator was not cooling. Not able to go food shopping until it was fix late Monday. The gentleman who repaired the refrigerator visit twice during our 5 day stay. Good thing who was very nice and professional. We loved the neighbor dog. All in all it was a beautiful place To stay...we would go back again. The rental company was quick on our needs.

A great home base

We loved Panther Cat Perch! The home is modern and very well designed but still has a rustic "mountain" feel. It was absolutely spotless and we appreciated the owner's furnishings (great art, books, etc) and the fact that it came well stocked with things like coffee, tea and hiking guides. The location is great--quiet and removed from everything but just a few short minutes into the delightful town of Black Mountain. The drive in was a little intimidating the very first time, but the instructions are great and it became old hat in no time (in winter we might feel differently, however). Bonus points for the neighbor's sweet dog, Bella, who liked to come visit! The one downside is the wifi is very slow, something to note if you're planning to work remotely.

Everything! The cabin was perfect for 2 couples. We had everything we needed and more. Close to Biltmore and Asheville. It even snowed on Christmas Eve! We couldn't have asked for a better time.

Comfortable and nice to have movies to watch. Kitchen was set up with lots of utensils. Had a problem with the water and they were nice and had it fixed quickly.

The cabin was conveniently located to historic Black Mtn, Swannanoa, & Asheville!
The cabin's interior is nicely maintained with updated kitchen and bathrooms. Easy to use gas fireplace. New & fresh bed linens and bath towels. ** Very glad it was suggested to be sure to arrive before dark upon first arrival in order to understand backing up driveway. It never presented an issue even when returning after sunset! **

Highly recommended cabin in beautiful Black Mountain. Excellent and amazingly detailed place with privacy. The views are breathtaking. Easy access to the gorgeous town of Black Mountain and less than 30 minutes from Asheville.

It is definitely a good idea to get to the rental in the daylight which was suggested by the management company. However, we didn’t do it was great to have their instructions. We loved the hot tub and the secluded cabin! We wished there had been a tv in the bedroom.

Loved our stay at Panther Cat Perch. We were looking for something different from the routine Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge experience and did we ever find it! Cabin offered the privacy we were looking for and convenience to the places we wanted to see, Biltmore, Mt Mitchell, Chimney Rock, Catawaba Falls, Blue Ridge Parkway, and much more. So many neat little friendly towns. The cabin is well taken care of and clean. So relaxing sitting on the couch in front of the gas fireplace. Thank you Greybeard Realty, my guest and I enjoyed our stay so much, we are already trying to plan to come back soon with friends and stay longer.

This cabin was absolutely amazing. I've rented several cabins through many different companies over the years and this has been by far the best experience. The cabin itself was immaculate and well stocked. We cooked each night and kept running into things we forgot to pack and would find what we needed already there! The hot tub looking out over the trees going down the mountain was helped deliver the much needed relaxation after Kentucky Derby Weekend! We will definitely use this location again in the future.

Great experience staying at Panther Cat Perch. It did rain all weekend, but we still had a very nice and relaxing time. The place is secluded in the hills and has updated amenities. Very easy access to downtown Black Mountain. Hot tub was a great addition to the weekend vacation. Greybeard was fantastic to work with and completely available if we needed anything, which we did not. I would easily stay at this place again.

When it came to choosing a cabin, I had to be very picky as this would be my boyfriends first time in the mountains. Our cabin turned out perfect! It was clean, and the location was great! My kids had a great time as well. Definitely would choose greybeard again!

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Panther Cat Perch is located in Black Mountain. This home is about a 10-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain and approximately a 25-minute drive to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

This property offers a flexible cancellation policy that differs from the standard cancellation policy. The policy for this home is the moderate policy. The terms of the policy are as stated: Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund. Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Panther Cat Perch has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

IS THERE AN OUTDOOR FIRE PIT?

This home does not provide an outdoor fire pit. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit, and you cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Panther Cat Perch. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.
