Nestled just steps away from the private & upscale Camp Lake James community, this three-bedroom, three-bath cabin sleeps up to 8 people comfortably and offers an expansive porch with an outdoor fireplace along with a private kayak launch/beach area and boat dock right in its backyard. Inside, the home is filled with gorgeous high-end furnishings and numerous upscale amenities. The primary bedroom has a King bed, the guest room has a Queen bed, and the upper-level Loft has two sets of twin bunk beds. Within a short walk of The Camp's Pavilion, as a guest at Lakeside Retreat, you will be able to enjoy the exclusive amenities within Camp Lake James for the duration of your stay-take a dip in the pool, explore the lake by kayak, grab a quick bite at the Canteen, curl up by the stone outdoor fireplace, and enjoy community-led activities to your heart's content.

Located just 45 minutes from Asheville in Nebo, this upscale lakefront home is the perfect place to get away and enjoy everything the Lake James area has to offer. Outside of the community, you can spend your days exploring nearby hiking trails like the Fonta Flora Loop in Lake James State Park or High Shoal Falls in South Mountains State Park before grabbing a refreshing craft beer at Fonta Flora's open-air brewery at Whippoorwill Farm. Less than 25 minutes away, you'll find the quaint small town of Marion where you can grab another cold one at Mica Town Brewing Company, fresh seafood and a cocktail at Crabby Abby's Bar and Grille, or a handcrafted dish paired with the NC staple, Cheerwine, at McDowell Local. Before returning to your home away from home, shop around at the Lake James Antique Mall, or take a short 30-minute drive to the Simply Charming town of Morganton where you can find boutiques, novelty shops, regional museums, and art galleries to pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the mountains.

This home offers exclusive access to Camp Lake James community amenities, including a spacious pool & covered pavilion area with a cabana, but please note that the docks and fitness center are private and off-limits. Overall

Lovely home, clean inside and most beautiful interior for a home rental. Trail to beach and lake was a steep dirt trail and trail to dock was also dirt trail but more level. Not a real problem but probably should be put in description. My son in law cleaned up the trail to make it easier for all. We also picked up the litter left at the beach by previous people. We lived on the beautiful front porch and grilled out every night. The kitchen was nicely furnished with everything needed. Beds were comfy as well as the furniture. Nice to park so close to house for unpacking. Probably should include in description that upstairs loft has no door and is open to downstairs so maybe best to describe house as 2 bedrooms and sleeping loft. The house was steps from the awesome huge pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, and beach. The house description said we had use of the canteen/Cafe there so we headed down our first day there. Lots of confusion about how to pay for food and drinks there since they don't accept cash. We arrived by 4 but office had no one there. So renters might want to get this clarified so you do not experience the similar frustration. All in all, this house and amenities are amazing. The porch with rockers and long dining table,little swimming beach and pool were our favorites. But the gorgeous kitchen and appliances and comfy furniture were greatly appreciated also. Front porch was huge and was where we ate all our meals and hung out during the short rains. Thanks for the overall great time!

We're delighted that you had an overall wonderful getaway and enjoyed the beautifully-furnished interior, gorgeous lake setting, and fantastic community amenities. While the upper loft bedroom has barn doors that do a good job of closing it off from the living room, we've made a note that it does not have a door by the stairwell. We apologize for the inconvenience you encountered with the wristbands and Cantina. Guests get their wristbands (which allow food and drinks to be charged to their reservation) from The Camp which is part of the Lake James Community and not associated with Greybeard Rentals. This is the first time an issue with the wristbands had been reported to us, so we believe this was just a one-time mix-up. We appreciate you recommending us to fellow travelers, and we hope that we'll get the opportunity to host you again when you return to the area!

The house was spacious and had great outdoor space. The amenities at 1780 were very nice! We enjoyed the pools. It was also convenient to have the dock.

Location on the lake is perfect! This property is as close as you can get to the Camp pool, grill and tennis/pickle ball courts. The house is a short, easy walk to the dock too. The trails are well Maintained and great for hiking and running.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Lakeside Retreat is located on Lake James within its 1780 neighborhood and offers exclusive access to Camp Lake James amenities.This home is approximately 25 minutes to Marion, 30 minutes to Morganton, 45 minutes to Black Mountain, and an hour to Asheville, and 1 hour and 15 minutes to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

This property offers a flexible cancellation policy that differs from the standard cancellation policy. The policy for this home is the moderate policy. The terms of the policy are as stated: Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive 100% refund. Bookings canceled at least 14 days before the start of the stay will receive 50% refund.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Lakeside Retreat on Lake James is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Lakeside Retreat on Lake James has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD PROVIDED?

Lakeside Retreat on Lake James has an indoor wood-burning fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside since the property is not fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Lakeside Retreat on Lake James. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

Lakeside Retreat on Lake James offers its own private boat dock and beach area on Lake James for guests to enjoy within the designated guidelines outlined by Lake James.
