Ideal for groups of friends or larger families traveling with kiddos and pups, this spacious waterfront cabin accommodates up to 12 guests and offers an expansive 150+ ft of private beach area with sandy shores on a sizable protected cove. Inside the home, you'll find a gas fireplace in the living room, two laundry rooms, four bedrooms, and a dedicated bunkroom. Both the upper and lower levels have a primary king bedroom, while the latter has a queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twin beds, and an additional space with four youth bunk beds. There are three full baths and two half baths as well as a dedicated mudroom downstairs with an adjacent outdoor shower. Outside, you'll find a newly-installed luxury hot tub, a fire pit area with seating for 4, a screened porch with a gas logs fireplace, a Weber gas grill, and professional landscaping.

In the morning, sip your coffee on the cozy screened porch while listening to the birds singing and the wind rustling the trees. After coffee, follow the trail down to the private beach area to soak up the sun, swim, kayak, and boat to your heart's content. On those inevitably rainy days or lazy afternoons, gather around the gas logs fireplace in the living room to read that book you've been meaning to, or stream a binge-worthy show before taking advantage of the gas grill and dreamy gourmet kitchen. Listen to your favorite playlist as you create a delectable lunch of Tuscan salad topped with grilled fish, fresh veggies, and tangy lemon vinaigrette for you and your family to enjoy together al fresco on the deck overlooking the lush woodlands and gorgeous lake. In the evening, relax in the rocking chairs below the porch to watch the sunset before gathering around the outdoor fire pit to enjoy a glass of wine and look on in awe as the stars and moon emerge in the clear night sky.

Located just 45 minutes from Asheville in Nebo, NC, this stunning lakefront home is the perfect place to retreat and enjoy everything the Lake James area has to offer. Please Note: This rental is pet-friendly with an additional fee. This home does NOT currently have a boat dock, but you are welcome to rent a pontoon boat through Lake James Neighborhood Store or Noah's Landing and "pull it ashore" or anchor it close to the shoreline at the private beach area. While the home offers access to Lake James, it does NOT offer access to Camp Lake James amenities.

Very nice home with private lake access

Very happy with our stay at KingFisher! Plenty of space and the kitchen had everything we need. The walk down to the lake was a bit steep but it was nice to have a private area to float & play in the lake. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the amount of dog hair all over the house. The floors did not appear to be thoroughly washed or vacuumed.

The house was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Love the neighborhood - it's peaceful and quiet. Nice for walking and access to trails. Great location on the lake as well.

the house was beautiful, it looked even better in person than in the pictures. We enjoyed the relaxing quiet and the beautiful view from the porch! the house was also very clean and neat when we arrived!

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

The Kingfisher is located on Lake James. This home is approximately 25 minutes to Marion, 45 minutes to Black Mountain, and an hour to Asheville, Hickory, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

The Kingfisher is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

The Kingfisher has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at The Kingfisher (starting speeds of 1000 Mbps). Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

WHERE AND HOW DO I ACQUIRE A BOAT RENTAL IN LAKE JAMES?

The Kingfisher does NOT have a boat dock, but it does have its own private beach area that you can “pull boats ashore” or anchor close to the shoreline.
