Newly built in 2016, this comfy 2 bedroom, 1-and-a-half-bath arts and crafts cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of Lake Tomahawk, the municipal swimming pool, tennis courts, and the shops and restaurants in downtown Black Mountain. And it's just minutes away from the Black Mountain Golf Course. A large, screened-in back porch with plenty of seating overlooks a lovely, level back yard with mature trees where you can watch the hummingbirds, enjoy a fire in the fire-pit, or cook up some NC barbeque on the gas grill.

The cottage features two large bedrooms, each with a king bed and TV, and the primary bedroom includes an attached half bath. The well-stocked kitchen and open living room (with TV) feature cozy, comfortable seating, whether for morning coffee or entertaining a few friends. Snug and efficient, the cottage also features a full washer/dryer set, ultra-quiet central heating and cooling, puzzles and games, cable and wireless high-speed internet. Perfect for romantic getaways, or artist/writer retreats. This home also offers a Keurig coffee machine. House layout: living room with TV; eat-in kitchen with table that seats 4; a bedroom with a king bed and a half bath; a full bath in the hallway; another bedroom with a king bed and another TV. A wonderful screened porch at the back of the house. There is a mini-split HVAC unit in the living room and both bedrooms. A mini-split is a heating and cooling system that allows you to control the temperature in each individual room.

The cottage is charming and comfortable. The personal preparation touches are welcome. The kitchen is a pleasure to use. I love the note about the chicken. I haven't had the pleasure yet, but am keeping my eye out.

Sweet cottage only a 15-minute walk from downtown and very near lovely Lake Tomahawk! Perfect for a couple or small family. Very comfortable beds and a delightful screened in porch. Note to owners: a couple of the coffee mugs are chipped along the rim and quite painful! Probably time to replace them. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We have stayed here before, and are always so pleased at the quality of the home. The back porch is excellent, and as before, a lot of supplies were left for us when we first arrived. They take a lot of effort to make sure this place is top notch. And we appreciate that. Will return before years end hopefully.

Such a cute little cottage! Screened porch was wonderful! We even enjoyed a little fire with s’mores one night! Only 20 minutes to downtown Ashville and 40 to Chimney Rock! We look forward to coming back again someday!

The location was great. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and the back porch was very nice and screened in so there were no bugs while we ate dinner and drank our morning coffee. The house was clean and had everything we needed to prepare meals and relax. Black Mountain is a great little town and Biltmore and Asheville were awesome and close by as well.

What a sweetie pie. Immaculate, wonderful back porch, cute back yd. Stocked. Honestly, one of the top little rentals we have ever stayed in. We wanted to but it!!!

The house was so lovely, comfortable and well stocked. Beds and pillows were just right. We enjoyed the screened porch immensely. Surroundings were quiet and peaceful.

Wonderful welcoming cottage! Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Everything that you could need was provided. Great location central to other areas! Restaurants nearby were very good!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in this perfect little cottage. Very clean, cozy, comfortable and well organized. The back porch and yard are wonderful. Very nice grill. Walking distance to downtown Black Mountain and Lake Tomahawk. Highly recommend.

Our cottage in Black Mountain was the perfect retreat at the end of a long hot summer. Our cottage had a back porch that we loved drinking coffee on in the mornings and a glass of wine at night. We had a great time and everything was clean and the cottage lacked nothing!

Our stay in the Hummingbird Cottage was very comfortable and relaxing! Everything was so fresh and clean and was the perfect space for 4 adults! The beds were very comfortable with tons of pillows! The kitchen had everything we needed. The back porch was perfect for early morning and late night relaxation. The cottage was so conveniently located to shops, walking trails and the surrounding beautiful mountain drives. Greybeard was so great on communication and we felt very welcome to stay in this cottage! I am so glad we chose to stay here on our mini vacay!

It had everything we needed, and the location was convenient to many great restaurants in town, as well as to trails and scenic drives. The home was super clean and comfortable, and check-in and check-out was made easy for us. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the Black Mountain area!

This is a very sweet home in a great part of Black Mountain only a few blocks from Lake Tomahawk and downtown. The home was well stocked, comfortable, and a great option for anyone visiting the greater Asheville area.

Our cottage was the perfect size and had all of the amenities you could ask for while staying in Black Mountain. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathroom/bedroom linens were very nice and well appointed. We enjoyed the whole process. Thanks to Greybeard for good communications and friendly staff. Comfortable place to stay while in Black Mountain during the beginning of the virus social distancing. We started our trip before things escalated but felt very safe and relaxed there when things started shutting down. The Ingles was close by and stocked so we stocked up the cottage when we first got there. So we were able to relax, despite it all. We found drives and hikes to do out in the fresh mountain air, in the parkway nearly every day. So thank you Greybeard!

My husband, son, and I had a great stay at Hummingbird cottage. The house is so cute and had everything we needed. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we found the space to be plenty big enough for the three of us. The loaf of pumpkin bread waiting for us when we checked in was also a nice touch. My only nit picky comment is that we checked in to the house in the evening after it was already dark and the house was pretty cold. We turned the heat on when we got in but the only heat source is in the living room so the bedrooms stayed a little chilly that first night. It wasn't a big deal for my husband and me (there were plenty of extra blankets to keep us cozy) it was more an issue for our infant son who can't use any blankets while he sleeps. We made it work though with some extra layers and he was fine. The rest of our stay was pleasantly warm. We really enjoyed our stay and are already talking about visiting again - hopefully next time we'll plan better and make time to hang out around the fire pit in the back yard!

The Hummingbird Cottage is such a wonderful little cottage. It has so many sweet little extra touches like coloring books and colored pencils, jigsaw puzzles, and pretty artwork that combine to make the cottage a delightful place for a mountain getaway. The cottage is easy to get to and made the perfect "launching pad" for our hike to Catawba Falls, shopping in Black Mountain, visiting a distillery, a cider, and a brewery, as well as delicious dining spots. Greybeard's addition of pumpkin bread and coffee made each morning perfect. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had all the amenities that we needed for our stay. We look forward to staying again soon!

Greybeard again proves to be a cut above the other vacation rental companies. The house was in excellent condition, immaculately clean and very well-equipped. Plus, the location cannot be beat! I would have preferred a whole-house climate control system rather than the single unit in the living room, but this proved to be a minor inconvenience.

We often rent in Black Mountain and this house was the best...comfortable furniture and beds, great porch (it rains a lot in summer). My only suggestion is to put in the ad you have Keureg...we could have brought our favorite pods.

Went for daughters 30th Birthday weekend. Sat. was nice stroll in Black Mountain then went on a Food Tour in Asheville. Great day. House was comfortable will all the necessities. We had a delightful week at Hummingbird Cottage. Everything about this home was good, from the comfortable beds to the well-stocked kitchen and comfortable living room furniture. We loved having the Keurig so I could have tea while my husband enjoyed his coffee. There were only two of us so we only used one bed but it was very comfortable and provided a great night's sleep every night. We look forward to returning to Hummingbird Cottage.

Great cottage! Brand new so absolutely clean and comfortable. Great furnishings and extremely comfortable beds and linens. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return here again. The screened porch is a bonus and cottage is in a good location. About a mile walk to center of town but only a couple hundred yards to lake. We always enjoy Graybeard fresh bread and coffee upon arrival. Unfortunately this unit had no means of brewing the coffee. The only coffee maker in the unit is a Keurig pod coffee maker. Not the best choice for a rental.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Hummingbird Cottage is located in Black Mountain. This home is less than 5 minutes to downtown Black Mountain and approximately 25 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Hummingbird Cottage is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Hummingbird Cottage has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months.

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Hummingbird Cottage. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
