Located within a 5-minute drive of Lake Susan, Robert Lake Playground, and Montreat Conference Center activities, Hum-Dil-Lah offers fantastic outdoor spaces along with a well-equipped kitchen and cozy living space. The home is a stone’s throw from the 30-mile trail system that runs through Montreat. During your stay, we'd recommend hiking Lookout Mountain, a trail that rings in under a mile long and offers stunning panoramic mountain views, or the epic 4.8-mile Graybeard trail for advanced hikers that offers incredible views of the Seven Sisters mountain range.

Thoughtfully designed, Hum-Dil-Lah offers a spacious living room and open-concept sunroom with seating and access to the deck. The main floor has two bedrooms, each with a full-size bed, and a shared hallway bathroom with a walk-in shower. Upstairs boasts a unique and charming design. The main room has two twin beds and access to a bathroom with a soaking tub. A private bedroom, also on the upper floor, has a queen-size bed and ample windows allowing for natural light. The lower level of the home has a kitchenette (your group will love the extra refrigerator), a full bathroom, and a bedroom with a queen-size bed. Parking is a breeze, with a circular driveway that allows for easy parking.

This spacious Montreat home is also less than 10 minutes from the charming “Little Town that Rocks,” Black Mountain. Known as the “Front Porch of Western North Carolina,” you’ll spot the iconic red rocking chairs throughout this treasured small town that stand as your reminder to slow down, pull up a chair, and relax. The home is also a quick 25-minute drive to downtown Asheville where you can explore art galleries, sample beer at local craft breweries, dine at award-winning restaurants, and shop for souvenirs to remind you of your special time in the mountains. Hum-Dil-Lah is perfect for families and friends looking for a fun and relaxing retreat!

Please note: This home does not rent to youth groups. This home is NOT pet-friendly. Linens and towels are NOT provided but can be rented from Greybeard Rentals for an additional fee. This home only rents during the summer. This home is NOT equipped with Central A/C, but there is a mini split air conditioning system on each floor. This home does NOT have a washer or dryer available for guest use.

The home was spacious, and clean, the kitchen adequately equipped. Sorry about the absence of a shower on the upper level, though. The mild weather during our stay might have helped, but the combination of the three AC units along with the humidifiers made the house feel very comfortable.

My family enjoyed our week staying in Hum-Dil-Lah. I have been coming to Montreat for over 60 years and probably stayed in 25 different houses. My wife and I always look forward to relaxing in the mountains, hiking, reading, and working very hard at doing very little. The location of Hum-Dil-Lah is excellent! This year, we had three of our granddaughters with us and it was easy for them to walk to the park and/or go to "clubs". The floor plan worked well for us. With three floors it was easy to find a place to read alone or visit with others. Here are a few suggestions we have that would have made our visit even better. 1- House needs to have a "bear box" with a locking mechanism for trash. We were visited by bears three different times during our stay. Since I took our trash to the Montreat refuse center multiple times during the week, we avoided the potential problem of using the plastic trash can outside. Unfortunately, other homes near us weren't so lucky. Their trash bags were ripped open and the contents were strewn about on multiple lots within our block. While it is simply an inconvenience for humans to clean up the mess, repeated encounters between bears and garbage will become a serious threat to bears. 2- Kitchen needs to be better equipped. The supply of glasses, bowls, pots, pans, and cooking utensils could be improved. We had hoped to host a spaghetti dinner for some other relatives from SC that were staying in Montreat during our week but ultimately decided against it. 3- The upstairs bedroom could use a sturdy bench on which to sit while getting dressed. While there was a bench located in the room, it was not solid enough for sitting. There was a very nice "curved back" bench in the large room adjacent to the bedroom but we did not want to move it. 4- Please consider allowing guests to use the washer and dryer downstairs. In our family, with three young (and very active) granddaughters that played hard every day... they got dirty. Our daughter-in-law had to hand-wash their shirts, shorts, and socks and air dry them outside. Use of the washer/dryer should be included in the rental fee.

Had wonderful stay with family while attending a conference. The two kitchens with two refrigerators was a real plus.
