Located within a 2-minute drive and a 17-minute walk from Lake Susan, Robert Lake Playground, and the Conference Center, Gartrell Home is a spacious and historic Montreat home that's perfect for a mountain getaway with friends or family in the beautiful summer months. The main floor of the home offers a kitchen with eat-in dining, a formal living room, a den with a TV for streaming, a full bathroom, a laundry room (with a washer, dryer, and toilet), and a traditional "sleeping porch" with a queen size bed. The upper level has sleeping space for 9 with 4 bedrooms: one with a queen bed, one with a double bed, one with a king-size bed and two twin beds, and one with a twin bed. There is also a full bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower. During your stay, explore Montreat's endless trail system that winds through lush rhododendron, alongside babbling creeks, and that scale cliff faces overlooking the valley and towns below. For avid hikers, Lookout Mountain is a great trail that rings in at just under a mile long and offers stunning panoramic mountain views, and there's also the epic 4.8-mile Graybeard trail with several spur trails, including one that leads to Walker Knob and another that leads to Graybeard Falls.

Gartrell Home is also a 10-minute drive from Black Mountain. Known as the “Front Porch of Western North Carolina,” you’ll spot the iconic red rocking chairs throughout this treasured small town that stand as your reminder to slow down, pull up a chair, and relax. While in town, stop by Lookout Brewing and Black Mountain Brewing for a cold local beer, browse the novelty shops, and grab a bite at Pure & Proper, Taco Billy, or My Father's Pizza in the heart of downtown. If you're interested in experiencing a bit of city life during your trip, the home is just 25 minutes from the iconic Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville where you can explore art galleries, dine at award-winning restaurants, and shop for some handcrafted souvenirs to remind you of your memorable time in the mountains.

Please note: This home is NOT pet friendly due to severe allergies. Linens are NOT provided but can be rented from Greybeard Rentals for an additional fee. This home rents from Saturday to Saturday from mid-May to mid-August and accepts youth groups. There is central air conditioning but the "sleeping porch" is not heated or cooled.
