Asheville's downtown is full of life, art and culture -- and the mountain views aren't difficult to come by even while you are exploring the city. One excellent way to complement your city exploration with Asheville's beautiful backdrop of mountain scenery is with a visit to the area's many rooftop bars.

Montford Rooftop Bar

The Montford sits on the 8th floor of the Hyatt Place, located at 199 Haywood Street. They have a selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Their cocktails are excellent -- try the Montford Mule to get the taste of one of their staples.

They also have small bites such as roasted brussel sprouts, blue crab fritters, locally raised chicken wings, and other tastes with a southern flair. It's also a great spot to sit and watch the sunset.

Top of the Monk

Located in the heart of downtown Asheville, Top of the Monk is recognized as one of the finest cocktail bars in the southeast. This award-winning rooftop bar boasts Asheville's largest and most renowned whiskey collection, and it serves up delicious handcrafted cocktails with breahtaking panoramic mountain views.

Top of the Monk is a cozy bar with a speakeasy feel while the street level taproom mostly features craft beers. The Delirium Bar downstairs is where you can experience some of the finest Belgian beers in the world, perfectly poured in a true Old World setting, surrounded by a medley of monks and elephants.

Social Lounge

If you are a fan of Italian food followed by wine on a rooftop, this may be your perfect spot. The Social Lounge is located directly beside Strada Italiano (really delicious Italian food) and sets you directly in the center of the downtown action. Both bar menu options and Strada Italiano food options are available along with wine, beer and cocktails.  They also offer handcrafted cigars form Carolina Cigar Company.

Pillar Rooftop Bar

From high atop the Hilton Garden Inn, Pillar dishes out southern food, local beers and cocktails and plenty of space to enjoy some wonderful views, overlooking the Pack Square Park area and the surrounding mountains.

The Observatory Rooftop Bar & Lounge

Located on the rooftop of The Restoration Hotel in Asheville, The Observatory Bar & Lounge provides the perfect perch to enjoy sunset views in a relaxed and refined setting. Boasting a delightful botanical-inspired menu of drinks and bites, the bar and lounge are set against views of the city and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond.
