Vacations are a great time to unwind and relax and taking some time to watch a great movie or film can't hurt either. Whether you are looking for something to do during rainy day weather, or just itching to see the latest flick on the big screen, Asheville has plenty of options. In Asheville, you can choose from a variety of traditional movie theaters, theaters with cozy couches and recliners, theaters where you can enjoy a slice of pizza while watching your movie and fine art theatres to catch artistic and independent films. 

Movie theaters in Asheville by location

  1. Closest to Black Mountain. AMC River Hills 10 is located in east Asheville off of Tunnel Rd near the Asheville Mall and other common retail stores. This movie theater has showtimes for common, mainstream movies and a food and drink stand as you'd expect. If you are staying east of Asheville, this will be your closest option, though a bit of an older theater. 
  2. South Asheville Theater with comfy recliners, beer and food. - Take advantage of $5 movies on Tuesday at Carolina Cinemark Asheville. This theater also boasts reserved seating with luxury loungers for ultimate comfort while you're enjoying popular movies. Carolina Cinemark Asheville also offers delicious pizzas, healthy snacks, simple entrees and a selection of craft beer. 
  3. Clean and polished theater in Biltmore Park Town Square. Regal Cinemas Biltmore Grande 15 & RPX offers comfortable seating, a concession stand, and high-quality screens. This theater is

    about a 15-minute drive from downtown Asheville and also has a nice setting in Biltmore Park with many surrounding eateries and shopping.
  4. Artsy, but laid-back fine arts theater in the heart of downtown. Asheville Fine Arts Theatre is a really cool spot that typically runs 2-3 films at a time. The theatre specializes in first-run, art and independent films. You can also grab a bag of popcorn and beer to enjoy. 
  5. A true local film experience. The Grail Moviehouse is another locally owned theater which is known for locally produced content, and a continuous rotation of mainstream, and thought-provoking films on its three screens. The go-local vibe extends to concessions as local beer favorites such as Highland Brewing Company, Burial Beer, Pisgah Brewing and Noble Cider are served along with Poppy popcorn.
  6. Pizza and three dollar movie tickets. Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company really gets the title for the most unique movie-watching experience in Asheville. Not only do they make delicious pizzas, they also brew their own beer like the Perfect Day IPA, Ninjabread Porter, Rocket Girl Lager and a stock of other local and regional favorites. You can enjoy pizza and beer while watching $3 movies. The movies that are shown have typically been out for a year or two, but they usually have a good film playing. Just make sure to pick up your tickets early as they sell out quickly, especially on weekends.
