Warm and inviting, Three Winds Cabin combines the charm of a log cabin in the woods with the privacy and convenience of a gated community. Located within the upscale Creston Community just 10 miles south of Black Mountain, this home is surrounded by 330+ acres of protected land within the community which connects to thousands of acres of Pisgah National Forest and Foothills Land Conservancy property. Take advantage of the tranquil and scenic setting by hiking down to one of 3 waterfalls, gathering in the community center around an outdoor fire pit, or picnicking at one of the scenic overlooks sprinkled throughout the community.

If you prefer to stay home, you can still enjoy the quiet and beauty of nature on the front porch swing and back screen porch, or curl up with a good book beside the fireplace. This cabin has an open living area on the main floor that is great for relaxing and entertaining while the lower-level game room is perfect for a ping pong tournament or just hanging out. If you're looking to explore neighboring towns during your visit, Three Winds Cabin is just a short 20-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain and a 40-minute drive to downtown Asheville, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure.

House Layout: Main level- Living room with a flat-screen TV and gas log fireplace; dining area with seating for 6; master bedroom with a queen; fall hall bath; full kitchen with views. Upper level- Loft with 2 twin beds and privacy screen. Lower level- Family/game room with ping pong table, sofa with pull-out, and 1 twin trundle bed; full hall bath; laundry room. Outdoors- Outdoor patio, with fireplace; screen porch and large deck on the main level provide lots of space and comfort; charcoal grill.

Please Note: This home is located within the private Creston Community. While guests are welcome to enjoy the Triple Falls Sanctuary trail and mountain overlooks sprinkled throughout the community, they are not permitted access to the Community Center, fitness center, or other facilities.

Very quiet and nice. Note: I believe we left behind a bad containing dirty laundry. If you could instruct the cleaning crew to throw out thank you. Things to note: -As already mentioned, update the Wi-Fi address as the one on the refrigerator instructions page requires a password. -The Coffee maker perks, but the coffee doesn’t pour down into carafe. The unit that connects to top of carafe is missing. I used a knife to gently push up so coffee would flow down. Other than that, great place

We had a wonderful stay at Three Winds Cabin. The cabin was spacious, clean, well furnished, the kitchen very well equipped, and the interface with Greybeard Rentals was efficient, courteous, simple. We loved the Falls trail that was near the cabin and lead to three gorgeous waterfalls.

This house was perfect in every way. We loved the neighborhood and the access to trails within the development was awesome. The home was well stocked with everything we needed. We especially loved the screened porch and the outside fireplace, especially in the evenings. The selection of books was wonderful and quite the variety. It was just my husband and myself so we did not utilize the upstairs loft or the basement, but these areas would be great for kids, especially with the ping pong table. I honestly can't think of anything that would make this home any better! We will definitely be back!

I liked the location. It is central to the places I go when visiting the area. Lake Lure, Mt. Mitchell, the Blue Ridge Parkway. I liked the cabin.

The cabin was perfect. The leaves were at peak, couldn't have asked for better. The town was charming and not over commercialized.

We stayed at Three Winds for a week in early April with two small children (under 7). The home was clean, comfortable, plenty of space, gas fireplace, and great wrap-around deck with a large porch swing. The \"neighborhood\" is gated, very well maintained, and consists of relatively sparsely placed cabin-type homes. It was very peaceful and quiet. Despite a cabin directly next to Three Winds, still felt private. The community roads are narrow, very hilly, and winding, but pavement is in great condition. The community has some nice hiking trails (a bit steep, but still doable for small kids) leading to three small waterfalls-great for setting out your blanket for a picnic. There is also a small playground. Address is Black Mountain, but is a legitimate 25 min drive to town, so you will need to plan your day before heading out. Don't let that be a deterrent as the home is located in a good position to make fairly easy trips to Mt. Mitchell/Blue Ridge Parkway area to the north, Chimney Rock area to the south and everything in between. Our favorite \"nearby\" restaurants are Trailhead, Fresh (pizza), and Louise's Kitchen (breakfast/brunch). Activities (besides hiking and waterfalls) that are great for kids include Robert Lake Park in Montreat and gem mining in Chimney Rock (touristy, was skeptical at first, but kids had blast and would definitely do it again).

Close to Black Mountain (25 minutes through winding roads), fast Internet, cozy, comfortable beds, all paved roads -- NO complaints!!! Hubby and I spent the week here with our two young children (ages 5 and 6), who loved walking up and down the stairs to the basement. Cute loft with two twin beds. Master extremely cozy, and large basement included a pool table and two day beds. Extremely well kept. Would come again!

The development is much nicer than expected, and the house is very secluded. We loved the privacy.
The pool table is great fun for all.
It wasn't a problem, but one should know there is no garbage pick up at the house. Rented takes it down to Black Mt to GreyBeard office. Doable, but extra.

The house is very nice and perfect size for a romantic getaway. I chose this place because it had a screened porch and I was not disappointed. We enjoyed our time out there. Only suggestion -- add a few wine glasses to the kitchen and it will be perfect!

A great way to start the holiday season in a real log cabin! A little remote (wife), just remote enough (husband), and great WiFi (Kids). A wonderful property perfectly situated between Ashville and Chimney Rock/Lake Lure. The local waterfalls (in the basin below the cabin) were spectacular. We had a great time!

Everything was awesome. The staff contacted me with up to date information before I arrived and I had no problems finding the place or getting in. Sheets, linens, and property were neat and orderly. It's a dry county and kind of remote, so I advise stopping before you get there to stock up on supplies.

Loved the house. It is in a great location. The house is beautiful! I think the owners should make the downstairs a bedroom since there is only one bathroom and it is on the main floor and the other bathroom is down stairs.

Wonderful Little Cabin in the Woods

This little cabin in the woods was a wonderful way to spend a week. It is isolated from the hustle and bustle of the world. The one thing that my wife and I noticed on our first night there was the number of stars in the sky at night. Since we were so far from lights, we could see all of them. Another thing was when going to sleep at night, everything was pitch black. There was no light coming through the blinds or anything. The cabin itself was very clean and had all of the things you would need to stay the week. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and towels and sheets were provided.

We ended up only venturing to the Asheville area once, to go see the Biltmore estate. I would highly recommend going and seeing this wonderful site. It is a little pricey, but the experience was definitely worth it.

We did have one issue with maintenance. When we arrived, we had almost no water pressure and the hot water would go out after a couple minutes. We called the rental agency and when they opened, they called us and sent out a maintenance man. He found the filter for the tankless-hot water heater was full, so a simple replacement fixed our problem. Other than that, everything was great!

A very nice place to stay. Secluded yet close enough. All the amenities needed for a home away from home. The loft with the twin beds was a hit with two early teen girls as was the pool table. Comfortable beds.

The directions were a little confusing. But, we found the cabin and enjoyed our stay.

Would recommend The Straightaway Restaurant. Good atmosphere, fine food.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Three Winds is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will receive check-in instructions prior to your arrival with driving directions and key access information. You do not need to stop by our office to pick up your keys. You will go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE? WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Three Winds has a gas logs fireplace and outdoor wood burning fireplace for guests to use. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground.

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer winter months.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Three Winds. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
