Lovingly renovated and centrally located, Stonewalls is a beautiful Montreat Historic Home built in 1908. Like many of the homes in Montreat, this home has the feeling of seclusion while still being close to everything. Inside Stonewalls, historic charm meets modern sensibilities. Prepare your meals in a beautiful gourmet kitchen with a dual-fuel range, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a custom live-edge dining table that seats eight. Gather in the dual living rooms to play board games or watch a movie. The light and airy living room off the primary bedroom has a queen size sleeper sofa. The primary bedroom itself is complete with a king bed and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The upstairs bedrooms share a beautiful black and white tiled full hall bath with a walk-in shower and clawfoot tub. The common area at the top of the stairs has a twin bed, there's a bedroom with a queen and a twin with a window bench, and the pink and white bedroom has two full beds and a small desk. The cozy back porch with a swing and grill overlooks Robert Lake Park.

Take a short walk down the stone path to access the small ballfield, tennis courts, and an award-winning creekside playground. Meander the easy walking trail, Elizabeth's Path as it runs along the beautiful and soothing Flat Creek. Peruse the ethically sourced handcrafted goods at Ten Thousand Village or the area-specific items at The Montreat Store. Grab a coffee or hand-scooped ice cream from The Huckleberry and take a walk around Lake Susan, or in the summer rent a paddle boat or go fishing. Montreat's trail system offers several hiking options from easy to strenuous and is within a few minute's drive of the home. Venture into Black Mountain, an eight-minute drive, to enjoy the small businesses and locally owned restaurants that line the downtown streets. From pub-style Appalachian to authentic Cuban, several local coffee roasters, and fantastic bakeries - Black Mountain has it all. If you've exhausted Black Mountain's offerings, travel another twenty minutes down the interstate to Asheville - where you can enjoy several James Beard-nominated restaurants and the booming beer scene. Take a walk down the newly completed greenway in the River Arts District and visit the galleries of local artisans. Spend a day at the Biltmore Estate - touring the historical Home, it's grounds and gardens, and the award-winning winery - before settling back in at the comforts of Stonewalls.

The home has a minimum 3-night stay and a minimum 4 nights for holidays. Linens (sheets and towels) are available for an additional fee. House Layout: Main Floor- half bath near entry, kitchen and dining area, living room, second living room with sleeper sofa, master suite with full bath walk-in shower. Upper Level- a common area with twin bed, bedroom with two fulls, a bedroom with a queen and twin, full bath with walk-in shower and clawfoot tub.

The home was in a perfect location, walkable to everything in Montreat. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. We had an issue with the linens and the slippery stairs but Greybeard Realty took care of it immediately. Trying to sort through the unmarked linens to make up the beds was a bit difficult esp when we didn't get the right sizes. I would think for that price, they would at least set them on the matching beds. Other than that, our stay was wonderful!

This is a perfect house (we had our two teens plus 2 of their friends) in the perfect location. We cannot wait to come back; the location is amazing, the house is super roomy and lovely and the activities abundant.

The kitchen and eating area was really nice as a family gathering space. Lots of rustic charm. The location was great for walking the trails around the creek that go to Lake Susan

Ultimate Montreat rental

This was our 6th summer in Montreat, and we finally found the perfect rental house. The location is perfect, and the house itself is super nice. We loved the open den/kitchen/eat-in area, and the front porch was a great place to hang out as well. The owners have thought of every tiny detail. Oh, and there's a foosball table in the basement that wasn't mentioned on the website...added bonus for our kids. We've already booked it for next summer. Can't wait to go back. Side note, be sure to go eat at the Blue Ridge Biscuit Company in Black Mountain while you're in Montreat.

I took my Mother to this house that her Mother and Grandmother build in 1908. Some changes have been made with updated kitchen equipment and bathroom improvements. We ha a wonderful time

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Stonewalls is located in Montreat. This home is approximately 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Stonewalls is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival. Early check-in is not available during the summer conference season. 

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Fireplaces are not available May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Stonewalls. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
