Description

Less than three miles from the Craggy Mountains, Migration Station is the perfect setting for outdoor enthusiasts. For music lovers it's a short trip to Asheville, famous for its live music and culture. For conference attendees, the house is located about two miles from Montreat or from Camp Rockmont, home of the LEAF festival, and is only 10 minutes from Warren Wilson College. The cottage is located on 2 acres and shares a driveway with the owners' house.

Downstairs, Migration Station boasts a fully equipped kitchen, large outdoor patio and bar area, bathroom with a spacious shower, and full laundry facilities. Bedroom with a queen located upstairs. Migration Station has proven a favorite sanctuary for artists and musicians from around the world. SHEETS AND TOWELS INCLUDED.

PLEASE NOTE: This property does not have a land-line telephone but generally has good cell service.

FAQ

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance . Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Migration Station is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

You will pick up keys from our Black Mountain office, located at 204 East State Street. Keys will be available starting at 4:00 pm. If you are arriving after hours, you will receive instructions on how to access the safe on our front porch. There will be an envelope with your name and house name at the top. Your keys and driving directions will be inside the envelope.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

Migration Station was the perfect home base for our week in the Asheville area. My husband and I were first time visitors to the area and this home in Black Mountain was a great location, offered comfort, and was so cute! We loved Black Mountain and Migration Station. After a busy 6 months of working endlessly this place was a nice way to get away from everything. Tucked into woods as if we were secluded from the rest of the world while only being 5 minutes away from Black Mtn. Perfect place to be alone and recharge and forget what is happening in the rest of the world.

We decided at the last minute to take a getaway. I was experiencing extra stress and needed a place I could find my center. David found Imagination Station on Wednesday night. We booked the cottage as we walked out the door Thursday from WV. When we arrived we were in awe! We couldn't believe how beautiful the place was. The craftsmanship inside and out was amazing. What a perfect place for my soul! Black Mountain is beautiful and full of kind people. The food was beyond excellent! We can't wait to visit again and stay at Migration Station.
Thanks for allowing us to bring our dog too! We feel honored to have stayed at such a peaceful place. Only thing that could have been better was to have met the owners!!!

My wife and I (and our labradoodle) spent five days at Migration Station. Wonderful cabin, quiet and secluded. Great location from which to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville, including Biltmore. Left rested and refreshed.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Asheville, and now a full decade later we decided to spend our 10 year anniversary there and it could not have been better. We loved the Migration Station and highly recommend it. The house is so nice and comfortable. There are plenty of places to spend time doing what you like inside and out and to top it all off when we walked in for the first time there was homemade pumpkin bread waiting on us. We were charmed!

This was a great location with short drive to both Black Mountain and Montreat... even saw 2 cubs and mamma bear while driving into town from this area. Very private setting for our 25th anniversary with several outdoor areas to read and relax. It had a full kitchen and washer-dryer, but no dishwasher. The wood and stone work on the house was a nice touch as well. We did several hikes in Montreat as well as jumped on the Blue Ridge Parkway to do a few more. We could have ate at the Black Mountain Bistro every night, but there are many other great restaurants like the Trailhead. Also, found Pisgah brewery and Black Mtn Cidarworks right next door to each other which became our evening hangouts. Nice people everywhere in Black Mountain!

This was a very cozy 2 day getaway for my wife (Marcia) and me("Pineapple"). We loved Migration Station! It is unique and charming. It is very convenient to the heart of Black Mountain and to Montreat yet nicely isolated. Although we weren't able to take full advantage of the outdoor bar and patio areas (because of the ice storm that came through), that gives us a reason to revisit. We'll be back someday to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of spring and fall there. Thank you.

We stayed at Migration Station for our honeymoon and could not have been more impressed! It was the perfect place to relax -- such a sweet, cozy atmosphere. The area, Black Mountain, is wonderful, too! We would stay in Black Mountain any day over Asheville. The quaint, adorable mountain town had just enough going on to keep us busy, without the hectic Asheville traffic. We ate dinner at the Red Rocker Inn, just a few miles away, and it was the best meal we had the entire trip.

We would highly recommend this cabin, area, and rental company to anyone and were more than pleased with our stay!

We loved our time in Black Mountain and plan to return again very soon! Migration station was a great property. I would have given this property 5 stars across the board but the only issue we had was the cabin had a strong cleaning solution smell. Not sure what it was coming from. We did a little investigating and determined it must be the floors (they looked like they had been buffed or waxed). The smell softened throughout our stay but it was constant. Again, the cabin was spotless but it could have used an open window and a fan on before we got there.

This is our second Greybeard trip and I'm super impressed with how organized the check-in/check-out experience is. Our first trip a few years ago was good, but this trip was great thanks to the fantastic written instructions and the phone app that they've released. Our property was great as usual. Strongly recommend if you're looking for a low hassle experience.
