About the Home
• Living room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a gas-log fireplace, overlooking long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Lake Lure.
• Luxury kitchen with eat-in dining, stainless appliances, and standard, drip-style coffee maker. 
• Covered deck with outdoor dining for 6.
• Lower-level living area with 75" HDTV, wet bar, and access to the deck with a 6-person hot tub.
• Garage game room with foosball, ping pong, and air hockey. 
• This home is pet friendly with an additional pet fee.

Please note: During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community.

We had an awesome stay at the At Last Lodge. We’ve stayed in a number of mountain getaways over the years and this home was among the very best. Extremely clean, amazing views, and so many thoughtful touches throughout the cabin. The decor added so much character - this home has been well-cared for. The neighboring community is extremely quiet and we felt truly secluded and enjoyed spending time with our family here, away from the busyness of our everyday lives. The rental company was very responsive to our minor request. We hope to make it back here someday!

Loved At Last lodge, this is quite a pace. Never have we stayed at a log home with such modern amenities as they have here. Wife didn’t care for roads, but they are all paved and I had no problem, she doesn’t care for heights. Our 2 guests loved it also. My wife and I are 80 years old and she has always been wary on mountain roads.

This house is a dream come true. It has views, plenty of outdoor space, activities for all ages, and it’s super high tech! The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen is a home chefs dream kitchen. Plenty of seating for meals inside and out( patios). It’s secluded and quiet, the road getting up to the cabin is an adventure in itself. But once you’re up there, you forget all about the drive. The rental company was very communicative and made checking in and out easy and quick. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it if you’re looking for a mountain escape.

Magnificent Home and Mountain View

The cabin was absolutely gorgeous. It was beautifully designed with so many little details and nuances that made it especially aesthetically pleasing inside and out. Has an amazing whole house music system, comfortable beds and bedding, kitchen is perfectly organized and functional with high end appliances. Screened in porch off of the bedroom was one of our favorite places to sit outside. The views from this cabin were out of this world. You can even see the lake from the cabin. If you take all you need food wise, you will not need nor want to leave during your stay. By far, the best rental we have ever had in this area. Cabin was also clean, well maintained and even has a small food pantry with essentials you may need. Every thing with this rental was planned ahead for you. Highly recommend staying here!!

We loved the house, loved the views and enjoyed all the amenities. This house was very clean, the kitchen was well stocked with cookware! Being that we cooked all meals there, it was very important to have as much cookware as possible available. The house was very well stocked. It was very clean upon arrival as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our rest and relaxation here and even loved soaking in the hot tub each night. Thank you for taking great care of this place! We will be back.

the Bear Cub Sighting at the end of the property driveway was a nice bonus! The Cabin Views & Interior Condition are even better than the photos. Incredible view out the main living room windows!! The Sonos sound system was a nice surprise. The dehumidifiers built into the HVAC system make for very pleasant feeling air. Cabin is very well appointed. Fenced area made doggy potty time a breeze. This is a first class property. Would definitely return.

The views are incredible! House is very well laid out, very spacious. Love the bar/TV room downstairs and the game room in the garage. We had a lot of fun! Word of advice - get what you need BEFORE you head up the mountain. I'd recommend no more than one trip up/down the mountain per day.

My family and I cannot express more strongly how much we enjoyed this cabin and Graybeard's management. The cabin is a perfect combination of the \"log cabin\" feel with modern amenities. The decor is very chic. It's a paradise. Greybeard completed the experience with outstanding service and easy and clear instructions for everything.

Much thought went into every aspect of this home. The view is what I enjoyed the most, but the home is modern luxury. Music system in every room. Kitchen is organized & well equipped. Country Store just past the community entrance is a gold mine (cash only). Didn't want to leave.

From the start my family felt right at home. The cabin is beautiful with huge windows and the views are magnificent. We spent some much needed quality time together in the secluded mountains. I highly recommend this home away from home!

The view was out of this world! The house was very well maintained and had something for everyone. Our favorite part was how well stocked the kitchen was- everything you could possibly need to make a meal was there. We cannot wait to return to this property next year.

The cabin was amazing. Lots of upgrades such as whole house sound system, lots of lighting options, etc. Everything was labeled well for convenience. Kitchen was well stocked. View was amazing. Decorating was equally amazing. A modern rustic vibe. The cabin is \"really\" out there and up there. As others have said, have what you need when you arrive, like grocery items. You don't just swing out real quick to grab a few things. Plan ahead. Arrive when it's light out or you may end up lost. Not many turns from the entrance but you do need to pay attention. Tight roads but they are paved. The only thing I would recommend to the owners/rental company is to call it a loss on the basement carpeting in the living room area. Past renters have clearly kept their pets down there and there are a ton of stains on the carpet. We had our dog with us but luckily no accidents. If he wasn't out with us, he was in his cage upstairs. The outdoor gated area for pets was awesome. It's gravel but ideal for quick potty breaks and cleaner than grass/dirt/mud. Overall, great, comfortable stay. I would consider this a luxury cabin for sure. We would come back. Thank you to the owners and Greybeard for a great experience!

Great house to stay in for a few days and travel out on excursions. We packed food from home and stopped by Ingles for milk and yogurt before arrival. Great game room and large TVs but we enjoyed the large view and talking with each other. Walking in the neighborhood will tax the legs with steep inclines but good for doggy exercise. Nice enclosed area for quick doggy relief as well! Bravo all around. Other reviews highlight the remoteness but if that is desired, this is absolutely perfect

The cabin is gorgeous with an incredible view. The amenities were on point and created an environment to get some much needed rest. Enjoyed the space and didn't feel overcrowded!

My husband & I were looking for a COVID friendly trip where we could get away but still stay safe. This cabin was perfect! The home was well stocked with the basics to allow you to cook, there were several games and activities, and the view was incredible. After what has been an incredibly stressful year, this was the perfect place to unwind. My in laws joined us on the trip and there was more than enough room for all of us.

Had a great stay at At Last Lodge. Everything was easy, from the reservation process to picking up the key to getting to the house. Staff at Greybeard's Old Fort office were super friendly. The house is off the beaten path, which we loved, but the directions got us there just fine. Gateway Mountain is lovely and the home was just what we needed. Excellent view, well-appointed kitchen. We drove to some excellent hikes, including Triple Falls, Craggy Pinnacle and Max Patch, all of which were beautiful. Great chance we will be back.

This was our 2nd stay at "At Last." The layout is perfect for our family and we loved the view. Also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and sound system in the great room. It was wonderful to listen to music and make dinners in the evening.

The remote location of the At Last house was exactly what we were looking for. The house was fully outfitted and fully technological in every way. It was a very comfortable home overall.

We enjoyed staying at this beautiful property. Gorgeous views, and a beautiful home. The only thing we had an issue with was the check out procedures. Being required to haul our trash to the office and search for a dumpster was not ideal. We felt that the trash removal should be part of the hefty cleaning fee we were charged.

House was in excellent condition and exceptionally clean! The views are amazing always at this cabin, and I really enjoy how even the smallest details were taken care of. Such as I forgot to buy coffee on the way to the house, but Greybeard had already supplied a wonderful local coffee in the house. I liked it better than anything I would've bought. Another wonderful stay at At Last Cabin, and looking forward to more in the future.

We enjoyed absolutely everything! The house was beyond amazing and so comfortable for all the family members! The house is well stocked, very clean, and super spacious! I got the house for the views and for it's modern feel. Waking up to those views every day was a true blessing! The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need! Just bring your own groceries! We loved cooking there and have lovely dinners and cozy breakfasts! There are so many games in the house that makes it perfect for a little getaway from the world! The jacuzzi was a bonus! Everything was at the highest level and we cannot wait to go back!!! Thank you so much for an incredible stay and shelter from hurricane Dorian! There is so much love in that house! You will see it in every detail!!!

My wife and I went on a 5 day trip here after our wedding, and we were very impressed. The house is very modern, in terms of technology, beautiful views, and spacious. It was the perfect place to go and disconnect from the rest of the world, unwind, and relax. The hot tub was perfect! Views are breathtaking.

This house is amazing! The views are unbelievable and the house has everything you would ever need. Be sure to bring groceries and supplies, this place is not close to much. But if you want to getaway and hang out in the great outdoors, this is your place!

We’ve been staying in cabins in the NC mountains for decades, and this is the BEST CABIN we have stayed in. The views were unsurpassed, the house was very well appointed, and the kitchen was made to cook in. The house having a whole house generator was a huge plus since during our stay was an ice storm that caused a power outage. Having lights, water, and internet while there’s a power outage is pretty spectacular. We hope to stay here again!

The view was unbelievable. One of the best vacations ever. House was not only beautiful but comfortable as well. Our 2 dogs were in heaven. My family is still talking about the beautiful house and surroundings. Just a short trip into Black Mountain, but so peaceful no one wanted to leave.

Absolutely stunning property. The views are gorgeous, the house was spotless, the whole-house sound system was heavenly, the beds were comfortable. Do I need to go on? We've stayed in many VRBO properties, but this one was the loveliest by far. Plus, it had plenty of spaces for people to either find a quiet corner, or join together in a full-on air hockey tournament - whatever their desire. And these things could happen simultaneously, without anyone impinging on anyone else's vibe. Truly perfect home.

My husband and I and our 3 kids loved this home. We lead a very hectic life and we were able to relax and enjoy each other as a family. The view was amazing and the home had everything we could ever need. We would definitely return again.

We rented At Last for our honeymoon and we couldn't have chosen a better location! The house was beautiful, the setting was beautiful, and no one else was around which was exactly what we wanted. It was just as wonderful as in the pictures.

We had the most amazing stay in At Last cabin. It truely does have a breathtaking view, you can catch the sunset and sunrise as well as wake up to the beautiful mountains and the lake. I loved my stay here and didnt want to leave it was the perfect escape from the hustle of reality. It has the perfect location and I would go back in a second.

The home was beautiful and had everything that we needed. The view was incredible. We did some hiking locally to a few of the waterfalls as a family activity. Asheville is quite breathtaking, even in the winter. The falls were shimmering with icicles.

Loved how secluded the cabin was. When storms rolled in the clouds actually came right up on the decks. Cabin had everything we needed. The only thing I would have loved would have been a nice tub, in one of the three bathrooms.

Just finished an amazing week during our April spring break at \"At Last\". The home beat our expectations and high standards and Graybeard made the process simple. The property was so well stocked, spacious and clean. The view of the mountains and lake was breathtaking and the best part of the day was our self-imposed happy hour on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the day turn to night.

We traveled with two daughters, age 11 and 12, and although the wifi signal was great and flat screen televisions in most rooms, we all enjoyed getting \"unplugged\" and getting back to the basics. We read books, did a jig saw puzzle, sat in the hot tub, watched the fire, played tic tac toe and checkers, and had epic battles of table tennis and air hockey in the game room. In the middle of luxury, my family found one another again.

We even spent an afternoon at the neighborhood's private waterfall! Make sure to follow the hiking paths that lead from the top to the bottom of the waterfall for amazing views and the opportunity to splash around.

About the neighborhood, it is private and out of the way. That was a great feature for us! We didn't mind the beautiful drive to Asheville and surrounding small towns but please know that the mountain is dark at night and the roads are narrow and steep for city-folk like us. We made a point to be home well before dark so as to avoid driving at night and enjoyed a nice dinner at home instead. A typical day for us was to have breakfast at the house, a late morning outing to a tourist spot for lunch and then home for happy hour and dinner. Cooking was a breeze in the gorgeous and well stocked kitchen. Every pot, pan and utensil you could imagine was there and outdoor eating was simple on the outdoor patio furniture.

We cannot wait to return for another visit! Don't hesitate to book this home.

FAQs

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

At Last Lodge is located in Old Fort. This home is approximately 30 minutes to Black Mountain and Marion, and approximately 45 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

At Last Lodge is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

At Last Lodge is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 243 Catawba Ave S to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to At Last Lodge from our Old Fort Office. Included in the driving directions, will be instructions on how to access the house. 

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHEN ARE HOMES WITH GAS LOGS IN OPERATION?

Gas logs are not in operation May through September due to the warmer summer months. 

Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at At Last Lodge. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.
