Description

Jarrett Creek Cottage is nestled on beautiful Jarrett Creek, 15 minute drive from downtown Black Mountain, and a 20 minute drive to Asheville. Originally built at the turn of the century, the cottage was dismantled and rebuilt with today's modern conveniences. Most of the old growth lumber used in the original cottage was salvaged, then used to build some of the custom furniture in the cottage today. Owned by the third generation of the original owners, Jarrett Creek Cottage is impeccably decorated. The cottage provides a beautiful setting for a retreat.

You awaken to the morning sun shining on the front porch where old fashion rockers await and drink coffee from a Kuerig or a Mr Coffee maker. By mid afternoon, the sun has hidden behind the hillside and temperatures on the deck are noticeably cooler providing a cool comfortable place to relax and enjoy the sound of water rolling over the rocks.

House layout: Master bedroom with a king bed and a full bath. A sitting room with an electric fireplace that also has a daybed with trundle and a mounted 42 inch TV. A third bedroom with 2 twins beds. There is a full bath in the hallway. Dining room off the kitchen has seating for 6. Great room with 55 inch TV and vaulted ceilings. This room opens to a large deck overlooking the creek. In addition, a stone patio with an old fashion barbeque pit awaits the adventurous chef. A gas grill is also provided.

For those looking for outdoor adventures, the location is convenient to Western North Carolina's famed hiking, biking, fly fishing and golf.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Jarrett Creek Cottage is located in Old Fort. This home is approximately 15 minutes to Black Mountain and Marion, and approximately 30 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Jarrett Creek Cottage is not “pet friendly”. Please be respectful of those owners who, because of allergies or other personal reasons, have chosen not to allow any pets. If housekeeping notes that a pet was present on a non-pet friendly property during your visit, you will be charged a minimum of $600 to clean carpets, upholstered furniture and complete air purification measures. Bringing a pet to a house that is not pet-friendly without owner consent or permission from Greybeard is grounds for termination of the rental agreement without refund. If you must travel with your pet, please contact us for local boarding recommendations. More info about service animals and the ADA is available here.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Jarrett Creek Cottage has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Jarrett Creek Cottage. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

Very nice and quiet location. There is a train but only heard it one night and it was only the movement, not the horn. Rental was incredibly clean and very well maintained (Probably cleanest place I have ever been, it was very nice). Chairs and couches were super comfortable and kids played with checkers and monopoly that were there. Stream was nice but I think we just came at a bad time (after recent flooding) so mosquitoes were really bad and it was super hot, so we didn't get to enjoy the creek or porch as much as we would have liked.

Rental company was the easiest and smoothest I have ever deal with, and will work with them again if we are in the area.

My only complaints - I like firm beds but the king in the front room was incredibly hard. And the front room seems to get colder then the rest of the house with the AC on (we came when it was over 90 degrees that week)so I think any rental now I will bring an extra blanket.

Visited Asheville and Biltmore, ate bunch of good bbq (there is a North Caroline BBQ trail app we used) and visited a few waterfalls. Overall everyone enjoyed it and kids asked to go back already.

We were so impressed with this cottage. I dont think weve ever seen a rental this clean. The home is so charming, peaceful and very well decorated. Everything in the kitchen seemed brand new. The only complaint that I have is the beds were hard as a rock. Beyond firm. To the point that we had trouble sleeping. My daughter ended up on the couch. Other than that, it was a perfect stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Jarrett Creek Cottage. We loved listening to the stream at night and the property was as described and just lovely and clean. Where we do not live near any train lines it took us a bit to get used to the trains passing through. After a few days it wasn't an issue for us. Now that we are familiar with the area we would prefer to stay in Black Mountain another time because of access to restaurants etc. but the cottage was lovely, clean and well-maintained and we were not in the least disappointed.

This was a long weekend designed to reconnect with my daughters who are scattered across the country. It was a break from the routine, from work and from young children. This was our second year staying at Jarrett Creek Cottage in July and our 6th time renting from Greybeard. The cottage has enough room for families to spread out including a large rocking chair front porch for rainy afternoons, large deck overlooking the creek to drink coffee on in the morning and have lunch and dinner on and a patio to grill and roast marshmallows in the evening. Tastefully decorated with a well stocked kitchen. They even furnish beach towels for those who want to play in the creek.

The home is on a street with other homes, however as soon as you step on the back deck you suddenly feel secluded with a gorgeous and big mountain stream that sounds like a selection on one of those Brookstone sound machines! We sat on that back deck a few times and enjoyed the sound of the creek and it's little water falls while having a glass of wine. Very relaxing and my five year old loved catching crawdads in the creek. One day eight wild turkeys showed up by the creek and were quite entertaining. We were visiting family so we didn't get to do much in the way of touristy stuff, but we always make our way to Asheville for some fabulous food and music. We will definitely stay here again. Only thing I can complain about is that you have to drive your trash 20 minutes to the management office and 20 minutes back. This was not convenient for us as we had to leave very early in the morning. They should consider paying housekeeping to take the trash back.

The house was very clean (and I have pretty high expectations). The rooms were very nicely decorated but very simple and uncluttered. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked several meals. My son and I played the board games while indoors but we all spent a great deal of time outside. The creek is very relaxing as is the backyard and deck. I was afraid the neighbors were too close but forgot they were there because the back feels very secluded. I took a nap on the stone patio and it was wonderful! Coffee on the deck is great and the kids just skipped rocks and walked the creek bed. There was 4 of us but room for more. Plenty of linens, kitchen and bathroom paper products.
The beds were too firm for my husband and I but the kids didn't mind. That's a personal preference I guess.
The town is small but the grocery store was well stocked and it's really easy to go into Black Mountain, Asheville or to the parkway. We went to the train and mountain museums and Andrews Geyser there and they were very interesting. Not an all day outing so go there when you only have a short period of time. We went to Buck Creek trout farms and loved it. Kids could have spent all day there for sure. Treetops in Asheville was awesome.
The rental company was very responsive and provided an app and lots of information prior to and during our stay.

What a beautiful property, the sounds of the creek were so relaxing and the view was nice too. The outdoor fire pit was nice to sit around when it cooled down at night. The home is nicely furnished and has everything you need for a great stay. Bring food and clothes and you are set! Conveniently located to a Walmart for shopping and a quick trip to Asheville. Downside was twin beds in other two rooms which wasn't the best option for additional adult couples. Great rental company as well! Thanks for a great stay, it was just what we were looking for our stay in the mountains!

The home was clean and well organized and very, very charming. The Black Mountain and Asheville area is so perfect for hiking and exploring. This home was a great place to come home to after a day out and about. The creek behind the house was great for hiking or for just sitting coffee next to. The kitchen is well stocked and the space and decor is just precious. I would book this place again!!!!!

This is my new favorite place. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I love that we didn't "need" a 4WD vehicle to get to it. It was an easy drive to and from town. Located close to Asheville. The home was warm & inviting, immaculately clean and decorated so nice. I didn't want to leave. I'd love to go back again & again. We rent houses two or three times a year in order to bring our family together near Asheville. Jarrett Creek Cottage was by far the best find I've had and I rent every year through other sites. The house is wonderfully appointed, the kitchen is gourmet arranged and the setting couldn't be more beautiful. Beautiful house. We really enjoyed or stay. Loved the deck on the side of the house overlooking the creek. Would stay here again. The only thing needed is a full length mirror someplace in the house.

We absolutely loved the Jarrett Creek Cottage. The creek was great. Very relaxing to listen to from the comfy lounge chairs by the grill or from the porch while eating a dinner made on the grill. Loved the decor! I left inspired. Loved making dinner and even doing dishes here. Our trip to the Biltmore was great although I hated to leave the house :) Thank you!!

The cottage was very clean and well equipped for our family of 5 (3 young adults and the parents). My daughter commented that the inside looks like something we would see as the re-finished result on "Fixer Upper"! It is closer to a home in front on one side, but once we were there we did not notice it. The stream at the side adds such a peaceful sound! We had easy access to Asheville, but actually all enjoyed Black Mountain more than Asheville.

This is a fantastic and spacious house with a lovely view of Jarrett's Creek. The location is within minutes of great hiking at Catawaba Falls as well as biking to Point Lookout. We were lucky enough to see quite a bit of wildlife in the yard by being visited every morning by a family of wild turkeys.

The cabin was perfect (once we finally arrived)! Though we didn't spend too much time on the property, we loved the ambiance. It was a very peaceful place to lay our heads after busy days in Asheville and surrounding areas. Our only complaint was that when we entered the address into our GPS, it directed us to the Ethan Allen factory. We arrived at around 10 pm at night and spent an hour driving around the area before calling the Greybeard Rental emergency line for help on finding the cabin.

We enjoyed staying at Jarret Creek Cottage for 3 days in May 2015 while we helped our son look to relocate to the Asheville area. It was so nice having a beautiful place to stay with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed having breakfast and coffee each morning by the creek and grilling out for dinner. We had everything we needed! We loved the decor and most of all how clean everything was! Thank you to the owners and managers of this beautiful property!

It was a wonderful stay. The house was tremendous. Beautifully restored, and beautifully decorated. Plenty of space for the six of us. We cooked at the house on Saturday and Sunday evening, and the kitchen was well stocked. Sheets and towels were great quality. My only negatives were that it was not as secluded as we assumed. We did not realize that there were neighbors just a few feet away. But the back and deck side of the house were private, so it was fine. Also, the daybed and trundle bed were not appropriate for teenagers or adults. They would have been fine for children, but we had four adults, a 16 year old, and a 14 year old. The 16 year old ended up sleeping on an air mattress. In my opinion, it would have been better to have two singles in the fireplace room, and a queen bed where the single beds are located. I know that would have been more functional for our stay, and I would assume for most folks with 6 guests. But, we made it work, and the house was great. I would stay here again.

We had a wonderful family vacation in the western mountains of North Carolina and Jarrett Cottage provided the perfect home away from home for our family. The cottage is completely updated and meticulous! The creek, firepit and private outdoor deck area make the home even more ideal. Highly recommend!

Every aspect of our visit to Jarrett Creek Cabin through Greybeard Rentals was great. Susan at Greybeard was an absolute joy to work with. The house was lovely, and the details so well thought out. The pumpkin bread to welcome us was a great touch! We simply loved everything about the experience, and hope to find an excuse to get back to that area so we can stay in the house again.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked through the front door of Jarrett Creek Cottage. It exceeded our expectations. So fresh and inviting, immaculate and private. We spent as much time as possible on the deck relaxing to the sights & sound of the creek. A beautiful setting!Our entire experience from booking our stay to checking out was easy. We are looking forward to returning in the future and perhaps bringing our family with us.
