Description

Eagle’s Nest is a nature lovers paradise. This cabin sits right on Lake George in the community of Gateway Mountain, a 3,000 acre nature preserve and wildlife sanctuary. Lake George is a 7 acre catch and release lake with our own private dock. There is a canoe and some flotation devices for your paddling pleasure. Additionally, in just a short walk, you will arrive at the truly spectacular neighborhood waterfall and picnic area; which is a real treat and a must do.

Eagle’s Nest is the perfect getaway with 2 king-sized beds and 3 full baths. This cabin on the lake has multiple gathering spaces for your family to enjoy watching a movie, listening to music, reading a book or playing games.It is cozy yet spacious, warm and inviting. Enjoy your morning coffee on your private dock at the lake or on the fabulous deck overlooking the lake and forest. The upper deck has a picnic table and benches, Adirondack chairs and a lounging chair. This is an ideal spot for lunches, dinners, lively discussions or just relaxing. The lower porch has a swing, rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs. This is a perfect location to enjoy the serenity of the lake and surrounding forest.

House Layout:
Main level- full kitchen with dishwasher and coffee maker; dining area with seating for 4; living room with beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace; master bedroom with a king-sized bed and en suit bathroom with soaking tub and walk in shower; full hall bath (no tub, shower only).

Upper Level- loft, overlooking the living room, has an inviting couch, 2 recliners, coffee table, smart TV with streaming options and a DVD player; a spacious guest bedroom with king bed; full hall bath (no tub, shower only).

Lower Level- recreation room that features a pool table, card table and a variety of games; two sets of doors lead outside to the ground level porch and steps that lead to the lake, and dock.

Dogs are welcome, with an additional pet fee. A small fenced-in area and doggie door have been added for your convenience. Additionally, there are dog beds and bowls at the home for your use. If you bring your dog, please do not allow them on the furniture or beds, and please clean up any pet waste from the yard.

Nestled in a great location, 30 minutes to Black Mountain, 45 minutes to downtown Asheville, 30 minutes from downtown Marion, and 10 miles to Catawba Falls waterfall and hiking.

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Eagle's Nest on Lake George is located in Old Fort. This home is approximately 30 minutes to Black Mountain and Marion, and approximately 45 minutes to Asheville. Click on the location tab above to locate this house on a map.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Eagle's Nest is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Eagle's Nest is located in a gated community. You must go to our Old Fort Office at 78 D Catawba Ave. to pick up your gate card. Driving directions to our Old Fort Office, along with access instructions will be sent out via email. Once you have picked up your gate card, you can proceed to the house. Please do not rely on GPS. We will provide you with driving directions to Eagle's Nest from our Old Fort Office. Included in the driving directions, will be instructions on how to access the house. 

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and dial extension 203, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses will have a small supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store.

Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground. Absolutely NO fires are permitted outside unless the property is fitted with a fire ring/fire pit. You cannot bring your own portable fire pit. 

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Eagle's Nest. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

Our weekend rental in the Gateway Mountain gated community was amazing. The home is private and secluded, situated along Lake George and is in immaculate condition. There was a trail we walked with our dogs around the property along the lake where they could swim and explore. We were fortunate enough to find access just down the road to a trail leading to Standing Rock Falls by following the community map, which became our morning hike. The property owners were extremely thoughtful in how they appointed the cabin, from the kitchen and cookware to the game room to the porches with grill and swing to the pool table area downstairs and fireplace. The area is tranquil with lots of wildlife and there was even a visit by a black bear! We will definitely look for this property again, it was an absolute gem and ideal for those looking for a peaceful getaway in a beautiful outdoor setting.
