Located within a private gated community, Cabin Time is just 15 min. from the upscale community of Lake James & corresponding State Park. Filled with charm & countless amenities, this classic log cabin is ideal for smaller families, couples traveling together, or those who have the flexibility to work remotely. It’s also the perfect vacation spot for those who want to bring the whole family along—including the pups! Extremely well-appointed, the cedar log bed frames, faux fur rugs, and wood furnishings throughout the home embody the warmth and coziness of a mountain lodge. The 2 bed 2 bath home offers a king bed with 50” smart TV, a queen bed with 32” smart TV, and a dedicated work space with internet to comfortably house up to 4 people plus your pets.

After a restful night’s sleep on the comfortable mattresses and soft bed linens, start your day by making a fresh batch of tea or coffee at the well-stocked bar that offers an assortment of flavors before completing some remote work at the dedicated work space with a view, or head straight outside onto the 600 sq ft covered deck to lounge & listen to the rushing river nearby. On those days that call for sleeping in, wake up & soak in the luxurious hot tub while sipping a mimosa and looking out at the gorgeous woodlands that change with the seasons. Once you’re fully-awake, head back inside to craft a delicious farmhouse skillet with ingredients that you picked up at the local farmer’s market. The sleek kitchen complete with stainless appliances, a gas range stove and griddle, a dishwasher, and quartz countertops make cooking a pleasure.

Sit down to enjoy breakfast at the six-person dining table or el fresco at the table for four on the beautiful covered patio while you discuss the day’s activities. Pack up the beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, and cooler in the entertainment shed before heading to Lake James for a full day of boating, swimming & sunbathing. Return home in the late afternoon to play a few rounds of corn hole or horseshoes before whipping up a delicious dinner using the gas grill. After dinner, relax on the comfortable Italian leather recliners & stream a movie on the 50” smart TV. Before bed, spend time around the outdoor fire pit to enjoy peace & quiet under the stars with a s’more or two. No one’s counting since you’re on vacation.

Enjoy the best of lake & mountain life by traveling 15 min. to nearby Lake James or 40 minutes to Lake Lure & Chimney Rock, both of which offer mountain beaches and endless water-based activities. Lace up your hiking boots and take a short drive to nearby waterfalls and hiking trails like Catawba Falls, Linville Falls, Grassy Creek Falls, and at least eight other waterfalls, all within 30-60 minutes away. Spend the day visiting local wineries like Linville Falls, South Creek, Silver Fork, Perry’s Berry’s Vineyard, and My Sweet Love, all within 20 miles away. If your preference is beer, try some of the local breweries like Mica Town, Fonta Flora, Sidetracked, Catawba Brewing, or Hillman Beer, also all within 20 away.

For even more views & activities, travel to Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Tryon Equestrian Center, Black Mountain, and Asheville, all of which are within 30-60 min. away. While in AVL, be sure to check out award-winning breweries on South Slope, the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, and America’s Largest Home®, the Biltmore Estate. Winter is coming, and the ski slopes are calling you, as Beech Mountain & Sugar Mountain ski slopes are less than 90 min. away. You’ll have boundless opportunities for adventure at Cabin Time!

PLEASE NOTE: Cabin Time is pet-friendly (dogs up to 30 lbs) with an additional fee & offers access to a community river & picnic area (5 min. walk). The gas fireplace is NOT USABLE.

This home also has 2 exterior cameras- one that faces the driveway & another on the backstairs of the deck. PLEASE NOTE that the homeowner confirms the number of pets brought to his home via the exterior cameras.

FAQ

WHERE IS THIS HOUSE LOCATED?

Cabin Time is located within the private gated community of Cascade Highlands in Nebo. This home is approximately a 15-minute drive to Lake James and Marion, a 25-minute drive to Morganton, a 35-minute drive to Black Mountain, a 45-minute drive to Asheville, and an hour drive to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel your reservation and the property you had reserved re-rents for the time which you had it reserved, you will be refunded all money you had paid minus an $89 cancellation fee. If you cancel and the property does not re-rent for your reserved dates, you will lose all money you have paid to that point. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase trip insurance. Please call 888-228-8008 before making a reservation if you have questions or concerns.

WHEN IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED?

Security deposits are returned within 30 days of guest departure.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY AND FEE?

Cabin Time is specified as "pet friendly" and dogs are allowed. Unfortunately, due to common allergy problems we cannot allow cats. For the privilege of bringing your dog, there is a minimum charge of $100 nonrefundable fee per pet. A maximum of two dogs are allowed unless you have received special permission from the property manager or homeowner. Any damage that may be caused by your pet during your stay will be paid for out of your security deposit or charged to the credit card we have on file. There is a county-wide leash law in place. When taking your dog outside of a gated area, please ensure that they are on a leash. 

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN/CHECK OUT TIMES?

Check-in time is 4pm and check out time is 10am. It is important that we adhere to these times, because there is a chance that someone else will be checking out/in before or after you and we need sufficient time to ready the house for the next renter. If you wish to check-in early, there is a $50 early check-in fee that can be added on to your reservation. Early check-in is only available if someone is not checking out on the morning of your arrival.

WHERE DO WE CHECK-IN/PICK UP KEYS?

Cabin Time has a keyless entry system. You will receive a unique access code within 3 days of your arrival, allowing you to go straight to the house and check-in starting at 4pm.

WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY DURING OUR STAY?

If you are having a medical emergency, dial 911 from the phone in your rental home or cell phone.

We hope that your stay in the area will be relaxing and without incident, but should you need to get in touch with Greybeard, we have someone on call 24 hours a day. Just call our office at 828-669-1072 and select option 1, which will forward to the cell phone of the person on call. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your question or concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.

WILL THERE BE FIREWOOD AT THE HOUSE?

This home provides an outdoor fire pit. Firewood is not supplied by Greybeard. Some houses may have a small leftover supply of firewood for renter use; however, it is best to purchase your own small bundle of wood or Duraflame pressed logs at the local grocery store. Cutting branches, limbs or trees on the property is strictly prohibited. You can use limbs found on the ground.  

IS WIFI SERVICE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL RESERVATION? WILL I HAVE CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY RENTAL?

Wifi is available at Cabin Time. Please note that Greybeard Rentals does not guarantee internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an internet service provider, and due to a variety of reasons, Greybeard does not guarantee service. Our Black Mountain and Asheville offices have wifi service available if needed.

Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if service is available.

This place is gorgeous! When you walk in it feels like home. The house had exactly everything that we needed. My kids had a wonderful time at the cabin, and my doggy loved it as well. Such a perfect place to stay and enjoy nature at its best :)

This is a beautiful cabin and great for couples who want some serious relaxation time. Very private with an awesome porch and hot tub. Super nice well equipped kitchen and living spaces. Sits on a very steep hill but is very private and within close proximity (a 5-minute walk) to a beautiful section of the river/creek. Groceries are about 15 minutes away so plan accordingly.

This was such a nice house to be hanging out in and beautiful property to walk along, including a close walk to the river! A bit remote (about 20 min to the grocery store), but everything about the house is perfect, from the comfortable bedrooms, good sized kitchen, giant deck with hot tub, and fire pit. We were there for Christmas, and it was even decorated with a tree!

We did not realize it was a gated community, but it was nice that it was. The cabin is in good shape and the surrounding area is nice as well.
