Description

A charming and rustic log cabin nestled in a quaint , woodsy neighborhood. The authentic 1851 cabin was moved to Montreat from Virginia and updated. BraeBrooks has a great location with approx 5 minute walk to Lake Susan and the heart of Montreat. HOUSE LAYOUT: Main floor: kitchen, living room , dining area, full bath. Upstairs: you walk through the loft area with bunk beds and another twin to get to the bedroom with a double bed and a full bath. Parking for two cars. PLEASE NOTE: This cabin has a large window a/c unit on the upper floor. The homeowner supplies sheets and towels for your visit. A washer/dryer was added in May 2015. This cabin has a metal roof so you'll hear the gentle drumming of rain on the roof.

I had a lovely stay in this very rustic cabin in mid-April. Nights were chilly but the space heaters in the bathrooms and living rooms made it very cozy. I do wish the gas had been turned on, however, for the gas fireplace.

We enjoyed our rustic cabin for a week of family fun. Staying in Montreat was delightful, and we found the cabin a great place to truly relax when we weren't hiking, running, singing or eating.

The cabin was a great way to spend a guys trip. Four adults had enough room without being too cozy. The cabin was rustic, but had the amenities to feel modern and comfortable. The surrounding houses were a bit closer than I expected, but not too close, still private. Overall it was a great trip to a wonderful place. There was a small mix up on whether the grill was charcoal or gas, but no biggie. Had a blast!

We loved the quaintness, the simplicity, and the quiet that Brae Brooks provided. It had just enough amenities, but no more than needed. We have stayed here with our children before, but thoroughly enjoyed it as empty nesters! And very convenient to the conference center.

Brae Brooks was a cozy, comfortable log cabin. It was very clean and had all the amenities needed for our stay. The combination washer/dryer was a little complicated without the owner's manual, but there was a very nice laundromat in Black Mountain. We tried a new (to us) restaurant, something "Fresh" in a yellow building on Ridgeway Avenue I think. It was very good as was the Veranda Caf that we always go to for lunch. I would recommend Brae Brooks for 1 or 2 adults. There are bunk beds that could be used for small children, but I wouldn't want that many people in the cabin with me. I love the Black Mountain/Montreat area, and have been going for probably 10 or more years. Over those years some of my favorite restaurants and shops have closed, but many are still there. This was my first fall trip, but not my last. I love Ingle's grocery store!!! If they don't have it, you don't need it.

A wonderful, quiet, quaint hideaway in a great location. Very simple basics, which blended in well with the cabin's ambiance.
