Hunger Games is just the most recent movie filmed in North Carolina.  Past movies on location in the Asheville area include Dirty Dancing, filmed in the Lake Lure area, and Being There, filmed at the Biltmore Estate.

Now that the Hunger Games film is ready for release, plans are underway for the next movie, Iron Man 3, which plans to be on location in North Carolina.  There’s no word yet on whether Asheville’s beauty will hit the big screen in that one as well.

Greybeard's Grace House

This three-level home can sleep 10 people and offers panoramic views through wall to wall windows in the second floor living/dining/kitchen area.  Enjoy any of the numerous hikes available nearby and then return to relax in front of the cozy gas fireplace.  You can also venture out onto the wide front porch that has gorgeous views and a sitting area for al fresco dining.  You really can escape to a mountain paradise.  But, if you want to stay connected, wireless internet in the home allows you to do so. NC Arboretum Walking Trail

Of course, you may want to take in the tulips at the Biltmore Estate, and we have a special two-day pass for that through our guest services division.  The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville provides remarkable spring programs and features beautiful hiking ideas as well.  One of our favorite springtime hikes is Craggy Pinnacle Hike.

For Asheville renters who want to combine hiking with our other favorite pastime, eating, look into the Asheville Food Tour and make it all happen.

Great Room Fireplace

This secluded, 20-acre property, built in the early 1930s by Southern Railway executives as a company retreat, has been completely modernized while maintaining its rustic charm. Train enthusiasts will appreciate the many antique railroad items displayed throughout the lodge. The Great Room, which features an expansive fireplace, and the adjacent deck provide excellent flexibility for group gatherings.  Select the magnificent spiral staircase or the available elevator to access the lower level Game Room, complete with a pool table and a widescreen television. In all there are 6 bedrooms and 5 ½ baths. Outdoor adventurers can meander along the trout creek or try their luck in one of the two stocked ponds. In addition, an even grounded open area, adjacent to the ponds and creek, makes a comfortable outdoor gathering spot.
